Should iRacing Be Worried ? ┃ I think So And This Is Why

  • Low Fuel Motorsports with Assetto Corsa is truly excellent, and I believe it easily rivals, and in some ways surpasses, what iRacing has to offer. Especially for less competitive sim racers seeking reliable hourly races with safety, ranking, structured goals, and a focus on clean driving. The question arises: How will this impact iRacing, and should they be concerned? Or is iRacing secure enough with a substantial user base, potentially loyal users, that they need not worry? This is the subject of our video and the discussion we are about to delve into. So, buckle up, and let's explore your thoughts. Either way, the competition is intensifying next year, and sim racers will undoubtedly have a plethora of options for online ranked racing

    Thanks for watching guys , really apricate all the subs likes and mega live stream viewership we have had recently !
    iRacing For now still has the most compettive fields and largest range of content , but with the quality of racing in LFM and the fact LFM with AC is is basically free or £6 a month then when you consider RF2 ranked and then all the ranked sims comming next year , I think iracing really might have some stiff compeition to beat !

    As an Australian I'll stick with iRacing, the 150 ping to iracings American servers is a world of difference to the 300 ping of LFMs EU servers.

      same in south america, people cry about iracing's netcode but AC netcode is worst with large ping, car instead of lighty rubbing with the other car (a classic iracing 0x), both cars rebound far away like they are made of rubber in AC

    • @Magnazan
      @Magnazan Před 5 měsíci +3

      This is the same issue I came across. It's not terrible but it separating netcode (smoothness of other cars) to collision netcode it's a tough choice. Racing in RF2, AC and ACC compared to iRacing the smoothness isn't there but the collisions are a lot better. Honestly if iRacing could sort out the yeet collisions it'd make a world of difference to the close racing.

    • @JaredPaul01
      @JaredPaul01 Před 5 měsíci +8

      Being in New Zealand I find that I just end up in a high ping iRacing server anyway and even when it's low ping iRacing netcode can be very random with ghost collision that has basically trained me to not battle. I was so surprised when I switched to rf2, I don't even think about netcode in that sim.

      Connecting to races from LFM isn't that disjointed. You click join on the site and via CM it connects you directly to your race and split! It's really quite simple and easy! It's really only 1 extra step over iRacing!

    Like you said; «most simracers are boring 30+ old people with just one hour to race». They don’t want to spend that hour installing mods. And there has already been issues with versions of the le mans track, which eventually was switched to an entirely different mod. Meaning, if you spend the time to race today you may need to do the same a few days later to race again. RF2 on the other hand will cater to these guys by giving them a button to click within the ui, and then you get a new button to join. I have had a great time with AC on LFM so far, but I think the only way iracing would get worried is if they drink the same amount of tea that you do

    I don't think so. iRacing still has a massive userbase that is dedicated to that sort of competitive environment and already dumped massive amounts of cash in the game. It also has a more consistent level of quality, whereas AC really depends on the quality of the mod. And while there are issues with the handling of iRacing, especially when it comes to recovering from slides, the physics model is still more in-depth especially when it comes to things like suspension and the way the car moves on the track (it's so satisfying watching replays in iRacing because of that), and I find myself still enjoying driving iRacing more. Now that rain is coming in future updates, I'm even more excited when it comes to the future of iRacing.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  Před 5 měsíci

      Visually the car movement looks better in iracing for sure , but as soon as you try to drive in a totally natural way for how one would drive in reality the cars physics brake so one has to literally under drive all the time and drive in a super specific singular way that iracing forces.
      Race Room , AMS1 , RF2 and AC don't have this issue and ultimately allow one to drive in a much more natural way even if all the sims have specific issues.
      Once iracing fix there tire model getting stuck in a slide as soon as tires get warm then it will be a way way better sim.

    Yeah, sure. At the moment (21.00 CET, Sunday, prime time in Europe) there are 511 drivers on LFM distributed along 4 games (AC, ACC, RF2 and WRC). Meanwhile iRacing has 13k+ online users, almost 300 racing the MX5 at Okayama. I've been on the service for about 1 year now and I don't regret every single cent spent on it. And I really want to see the casual racer downloading the game, then a bunch of mods, then register on a 3rd party website, then try to set up the FFB properly and then, at the end, join a session just to chill... 😂 Let's be clear, iRacing is not perfect, like no other sim is as everyone has its virtues and its flaws, but saying that LFM in a sim not supported by the devs since years can be a threat to it is a nonsense. People heard it when LFM started with ACC, then when it arrived to RF2 and now with AC, but still...

When LFM went to RF2 it was hailed like the next big thing. Do you know how many drivers are registered for the next race starting in 10 minutes? 1 (one).

I wouldn't call that commitment to improvement. And I'll stay away from them until they really start to address their ridiculously flawed tyres and the inevitable exploits that come with it.

      I actually *don't* want iRacing to become cheaper, if they do that I would see it as a sign that they are throwing in the towel, because they feel unable to compete. I want to see them using that cash flow to continue innovating and making their service the best. If they can do that, I'm happy to keep paying for my subscription. That said, it is also good that they are being challenged by competition, because without that they won't feel the pressure to innovate.

LFM fits my schedule the best when I want to race online. AMS2 for offline Ai is really outstanding comparatively speaking. Others to race Ai requires online connection?? Go figure. I find the VR comment about AC a bit odd, as out of the box (prior installing CSP) iRacing had much better performance with HP Reverb G2, and required less tweaking. But after CSP, AC looks prettier but iRacing is just a touch sharper (most likely fixable with a lot of fiddling, in future) but both works great. Same can't really be said about Madness engine based games for some reason, I need to lower so many things in PC2 in example to get bearable results, and ACC is just PITA to get play nicely. Reason I prefer iRacing is I know I get the series I want every day and week. I played a ton of shooters and my main one was Battlefield, and for the last game they moved to rotating playlists for all but 2 core game modes. I hated the 2 constant game modes so every week I had to pray that the devs let me play something fun. Some weeks I had a ton of fun but then a week later it's gone. And it's the same with LFM and AC, they will rotate stuff, it's down to them what I spend my time with. But what if I want to drive 12 weeks of Porsche Cup or Super Formula? At whatever time I wish? Then I play iRacing
    But I see your point how AC with LFM does the thing for many casual sim racers. The ACC side of things is actually really competitive in LFM and is not too different from iRacing's top splits. I just got tired of GT3s though

    AC is the only one that has the same good feel and i use it for special cars or tracks i want to try for my own, but i dont want to go to external websites, get mods etc for online racing. I'd rather stay at my d license races in iracing just for the clear path and good rating system it gives me, the overall experience is completely unmatched.
    Also i would always stay at the sim where the pro leagues are bc even if i will never be at their level, i still enjoy the feel of being in the same ladder as them.

    I believe Daniel Morad might disagree? Check out his most recent video where he answers viewers questions. He is quite clear as to why iRacing is superior to ACC. I assume the same comparison might apply to regular AC? Maybe I'm wrong. That is if you are interested in realistic handling/breaking. He says you can't even compare the two. It's not even a fair fight. I'm curious to know how he would respond to this. I'll ask him.
    That being said, personally, I do appreciate the sentiment here. I'm very much interested in looking forward to pursuing LFM once I get my rig built.

    • @GamerMuscleVideos
      @GamerMuscleVideos  Před 5 měsíci

      AC handles nothing like ACC , morad is probably the only professional driver I know that's really a big fan of iracing.
      Dave perel specifically likes ACC and GT7
      Only thing that matters is AC is the most realistic and this is backed up by the fact a bald tea drinker says so.
      Also max verstappen has said the original AC not ACC is the best to train with and it's really good so I think that wins.
      You don't need the views of pro drivers anyone that's remotely sexy can tell AC is on another level right now.
      If iracing fixes it's tire model getting stuck at the limit / overheating from basic driving and stuck in slides then it could get there.

      Leading 3 races in a row in MX-5 rookies on iRacing just to try it out. ALL 3 TIMES I was taken out by a lapped backmarker that just turned into me while I was trying to pass and instantly ruined my race ALL 3 TIMES. Never touching iRacing again after that ABYSMAL experience that I had to PAY FOR. I had to PAY to be taken out by IDIOTS. Yeah iRacing is so much "cleaner" SMH at that statement. Getting taken out sucks in any game but it's a lot easier to deal with when you don't pay monthly to greedy crooks who can never get enough. AND I have to pay for DLC?! No. It's one or the other not both. It's either free content with a monthly/yearly sub or paid content with a free sub. NOT both. Like I said, pure greed.
      Plus AC FFB and tire simulation is light years ahead of iRacing, it's not even close. Keep fanboying a company that robs you monthly/yearly when there's a one time price $20 - 30 alternative that's just as good. It's hilarious. Also are you enjoying your 20+ year old game engine with PS2 graphics from NR 2003? For a monthly/yearly subscription at that? I hope you are.

      2. I prefer sheer act of driving in AC1.
      3. I am not that competitive to justify inferior driving experience for better competition.
      4. I love and need variety. Ability to drive so many different cars in AC without paying is unmatched. You can't drive historic cars in iRacing. (something like RSS formula 1970)
      5. Some cars in iRacing are quite bad and you can't refund them. (911 Cup)
      6. Sometimes your favourite car in iRacing goes legacy and you can't drive it anymore. (Ferrari 488).

      To be fair they probably could and it would make people feel it was "more exclusive" and more premium , people already feel that way now due to price ( and some stuff it genuinely does to very well/better than other sims) I'd actually say if they did say £15 a month but everything unlocked which in long term would cost people more , it would really help the sim especially if they also fixed tire model and net code issues , then offered a reduced totally free to play mode.

    • @martin-hall-northern-soul
      @martin-hall-northern-soul Před 5 měsíci

      Agreed! I'm one of the very turnip brain's that probably overvalues it because it costs significantly more than the other sims. We are irrational creatures, otherwise nobody would buy overpriced designer jeans. You're probably on to something with splitting the pricing model to suit two diverse audiences. There's been the influx of younger 'gamers' who could use the free to play mode. Then there could be a subscriptions service catering more to the middle aged motorsports fan. I think I'd keep the option to buy premium pieces of content to squeeze the older players with disposable income who probably collect the cars and tracks like they might collect RC cars or model trains. Maybe they've seen the threats and that's why iR are moving into console game development. Keep up the good work mate. @@GamerMuscleVideos

    I watched the video to the end and for the record, I hit myself in the head with a bit of wood for pleasure, most days. But anyway, I love AC and also spend a lot of time on ACC. I would use AC a lot more but I really don't know (older person alert...) how to use content manager. I have it, I stare at it occasionally but then close it when my brain goes 🤷‍♂ so, would it be possible to do a video showing T Rex's like myself how to understand and use it please? 👍

    I reget getting this far in the video almost as much as what I've spent on sim rigs!
