- #1 Upon Encounter
1. Stay low and avoid eye contact
For cats, making eye contact means
that they are going to launch an attack.
Therefore, it is best to avoid meeting their gaze
until you have formed a close relationship.
If you take the time to befriend the cat,
you will be able to make eye contact and greet the cat
by slowly closing and reopening your eyes.
2. Wait until they come over
When humans suddenly approach cats
the first time they meet,
most cats will feel threatened.
Therefore, when you meet a cat for the first time,
you should leave some space between the cat and yourself
and wait for her to come over.
You should wait and see
until the cat gets used to you.
3. Use high-pitched voice
As cats prefer small, high-pitched voices
to loud, low-pitched ones,
they usually like females better than males.
Thus, you should use a higher pitch than usual
and speak to cats
in a calm and soft manner.
#2 Once Cats Come Over
1. Let them smell the hand
Cats have a very sensitive nose,
so they can learn about others through the smell.
Therefore, when cats greet one another,
they put their noses together and smell each other.
If a cats has come over before you,
you should reach out your hand and let her smell you,
rather than petting her prematurely.
2. Pat them at their level
If you greeted a cat
by letting her smell your hand,
her guards will have come down quite a bit.
However. if you suddenly reach out over a cat’s head,
out of the desire to pat her,
she may feel threatened and run away.
You should reach down
to the cat’s level of sight
and gently pat her nose, cheek, and chin area.
If the cat opens her eyes like she’s squinting,
it means that she likes being patted
and that you could become closer.
This actually works . Ended up chosen by three kitties who also live with me😅 they are all in good care with space for them
Looked pretty drawn well
That was adorable😊
Cute
Hey Bemypet,
Do u have any videos on how to get a cat that was born outside and is now a street cat and how to take in the cat if it will choose to?
There is a male cat that we have been feeding for years. He has a few kitties he has fathered. The youngest one is the one we would like to bring in, if we can and if he wants to.
Any videos or any advise?
If the baby just recently crossed 1 or 1.5 months then u can bring the kitten inside and program the kitten to like inside more than outside unfortunately since the father is alr big he won't like spending time inside
@@eagledeluxe826 the daughter cat is almost 2 years old. We have fed her since she was young n were able to bring her in. She hides most of the day, however, she n I do playtime every day well a few times a day. As soon as I sit down 4 morning coffee she is right beside me.
If she sees me giving special treat to my Ragamuffin ollie, she will let me hand feed her. Baby steps. Thank you for the suggestions.
Do you currently have cats and if so what are their names and ages? Do you feed raw? I want to feed raw but they won't even eat wet. JG and JC has videos on transitioning from dry to wet to raw.
@@kg-Whatthehelliseventhat that's wonderful to hear. No I don't own one but I am going to get a kitten of 1 month soon my childhood friend is giving me she told that once they stop breast feeding and stsrt drinking milk she will give me one I am planning to name him bruno(just an idea rn) and yes my childhood friend feeds her cat chicken neck and they love them they eat.it raw no problem but the kitten who just got off breastfeeding give them milk mixed with some semi solid food
@@eagledeluxe826 yay!!! I'm so happy for you. I was never a cat guy but now I'm a great dad. I live in Japan, may I ask where you live?
You wanna read something silly and funny. Ollie rarely meows, rather, he mumbles his little cat. It reminds me of an old man talking smack.
I have always tried to have sympathy and empathy but after my family bought ollie n after we bonded, my heart got so much bigger. Idk... I care so much for these lil fur balls.
I have trained ollie to do tricks too. What so you watch on yt? What are you interested in? Again, I'm so happy for you and your soon 2 be new furry partner
@@kg-Whatthehelliseventhat I mainly am watching cat videos cuz I don't wanna be clueless when I get the kitten and now that u mention it I will name my kitten Ollie too its a good name
