The pen holder is a nice addition for testing - I have a little 3D printed vinyl drag knife for my CNC which is surprisingly handy but I had the exact same issues with achieving the optimum pressure and limiting backlash. Could you mount the pen with less 'stick out' to reduce the effect of the backlash? I'm hovering over the 'buy' button on a Duet to replace a very homebrew GRBL controller - looks like a much more stable solution. Hope you're feeling better soon.
Cheers Matthew, feeling somewhat improved but still testing positive. The problem with the pen holder is the give is all at the holding point. I could try less stick out but I don't have a ton of height to play with and I think I'd get similar twist. I'm nearly done with the proper wiring. So once I can surface the bedi can revisit how it handles. Somewhere o have a design for a knife drag bit which I'll have to try. I also have a diamond bit I'm planning to make a holder for. I'm loving the duet, I did some videos a couple of years ago in my transition from a grbl based xPro to the duet. Night and day in motor handling and smoothness
