Thanks a lot for sharing this Lauren! Finally someone to relate to for me.
It started for me couple of years ago, it was so bad I was afraid to leave my house, taking the bus was pure insanity. I remember I was just walking and had a feeling I would die, so I just sat down on the flor not able to move any step anymore and called my parents to pick me up, because I felt I was unable to. All doctor tests - the classics - and nothing.
I started step by step, with just walks, 1 station bus, 2 train stations, a train travel. My first flight (1h flight) back then, I thought I won't make it. 2 years later I made it to 30 flights and traveled by myself to Japan for 3 weeks from Germany - it was amazing, but the hardest thing I've ever had to do. I was alone and was on a day by day basis thinking to go back. And it got better after 4 days of pure hell, where I was afraid to leave my hotel room until I could enjoy some moments.
Last time I wanted to travel alone to Bangkok I told a staff member at the airport, that I'm a scared flyer (aerophobia side effect of the anxiety). I had it before 2 times, that I turned around at the gate and felt I was pushing too much. I was told back then to always say that I'm a scared flyer, because they put your suitcase last in the airplane, and can easily take it out, without causing any delay for anyone if I decide not to go. Now in this situation after I routinely say it when checking in - the staff member started laughing and saying " I never understand you people, you are such a nuance to society. Why do you even try, if you are scared. Just stay at home then? What is the problem? Get a life and don't bother normal people with your anxiety bs." That hit me so hard, I started crying and didn't board the flight. People around me, who don't understand how hard it is too battle this - didn't really got how this sentences (and it was more too that) hurt me and scared me off. Especially trying this alone and going on a 10h flight. I will fur sure try again after a while, but just wanted to share that sometimes you have nice supporting people your way, sometimes total insensitive assholes too. I will try now a shorter distance flight. It's all about keeping going and even with some set backs to get back and try as much as you can without pushing way too hard.
Sorry for the longer text, I just felt like sharing this story, since no one really understands how impactful the staff reaction was, than people experiencing this.

The isolation part is very deep because I cut myself off from people because I don’t want them to sense my negative emotions. Because the frequency of fear and anxiety act as a repellent that people can feel! 😔

Not true! Don’t cut yourself off from the possibility of someone loving you even though your scared all the time. Trust me, there’s people or even that one person who will hold you when you’re scared and make space for all of you

@@Themysticbeann Maybe so but in my experience those kinds of people are very rare these days, so I’d rather spare them the uncomfortable feeling/situation of being in my low vibrational aura/presence!

I've been working on this for years now. I've been living alone for a while now and have been pushing myself to go out alone, or just go out in general. It's not always easy... but I am starting to see the proof I CAN do things. Journaling helps a lot. Focusing on the experience vs the feelings is so important. You can feel fear and still have amazing experiences.
Think of a wedding for example... something people often describe as the best day of their lives. But the day is often stressful and they feel afraid about it. That doesn't take away all the positive moments and feelings.
I think we actually get stuck in ONLY focusing on the negative feelings.

100%!!! I absolutely agree. I also found journaling to be incredibly helpful, it was so much easier to follow the train of my thoughts when I wrote everything down. (I think it also helped to physically remove some of those thoughts from my brain and physical body via pen to paper, too!)
So glad you are finding some relief, and I love your wedding analogy!

Wow this actually helped me so much and I feel so inspired. I’m a mom of 3 that just had the worst anxiety year of my life and I’m slowly making my way out of it. I love the small changes you said, it makes it feel so much more achievable to get there ❤
