The win gave Dressel his fourth gold medal of the Olympic Games Tokyo 2020 and the USA’s 27th in the pool.
    🥇 Caeleb Dressel 🇺🇸 21.07 sec.
    🥈 Florent Manaudou 🇫🇷 21.55 sec.

    Tears of joy for Bruno Fratus. He was at the 2012 and 2016 Olympics 50m free finals, narrowingly missed the podium as he got 4th in 2012 and 6th in 2016 Olympics. In 2021 he finally got onto the podium. Better late than never! You can imagine the feelings when he finally managed to get onto the podium and win a medal.

    • @lexsoft3969

      Nice to see someone else mentioned Matt Biondi here.
      I think you know that Biondi is the 1st male sprinter who had tried to sweep gold medals in 50m free, 100m free and 100m fly in one olympic. Unfortunately he missed gold in 100m fly, after leading comfortably in the final, because of his own mistake that caused him beaten by Anthony Nesty of Suriname by 0.01 sec.
      Dressel becomes the 1st male sprinter who successfully achieved that sweep. In 100m fly final, he might have missed like Biondi, when Kristof Milak was closing hard. Fortunately he must have learnt from the past, that he didn't do mistake like Biondi did.
      Still, Biondi is among my favorite sprinters alongside Alexander the great Popov and Pieter Van Den Hoogenband.

    The most fascinating thing about this is that every one finished the race almost EXACTLY at the same time (within 21 seconds) the difference in their time was in MILLI SECONDS. Even the swimmer at last place had almost the same time as the first place.
    Really makes you wonder how much that little difference can make such a huge impact on the results...
    To me every single swimmer here deserved first place they all gave their 100% and clearly worked hard for it. At the end it all came down to their natural ability, their skill or their inborn talent(whatever you like to call it) which cannot be improved no matter how hard they try. This is what it means to compete on a world class level..

      bruno fratus is 187cm and Manadou is 199cm, if frstus were 1cm taller he would definitely win silver, because Fratus' time was 21.57 and Manadou's time was 21.55

    How much breath did Dressel take during the 50 meters?
    Why is he holding that scarf during the ceremony? Is something from his wife maybe? Fastest swimmer of the world currently. Amazing!

    • @giannahansen3598
      @giannahansen3598 Před 2 lety +2

      Usually, swimmers don't take any breath for 50m, male swimmers especially. For the scarf that he holds during ceremony is actually his late teacher's. I guess he did it to keep him in memory.

    Dressel is the rightful successor of Phelps.

    • @lexsoft3969
      @lexsoft3969 Před 3 lety

      It's different. Phelps never raced in 50m free and 100m free, esp at Olympic and WC.
      The closest comparison is Matt Biondi at Seoul 1988.

      @@lexsoft3969 I'm not comparing Dressel with Phelps. I'm calling him successor of Phelps because he's only swimmer who can win multiple gold medals at olympics for USA like Phelps used to do.

    • @lexsoft3969
      @lexsoft3969 Před 3 lety

      @@kirtesh4852 In terms of likelihood for getting a number of gold medals : Yes.
      For individual race to race comparison : different. Like I said, he is more of Matt Biondi. And Biondi won 5 gold, 1 silver, 1 bronze at Seoul 1988. You can search for this USA former superstar.
