  • This one starts off with a rush, but who's rushing who? Heavy pressure forces my opponent to wall up and make a big push out.

Never really understood how to play Lakota properly. Always feels like my units just mysteriously disappear whenever I start fights.
Germany though I do, and damn is this one of the stronger contains I'd seen. I'm more used to seeing Germany backing people into corners with their deranged timing pushes and raiding. Can't tell if the reversal of fortunes is owing to Lakota or to misplay on Germany's part, though.

I think Lakota is a pretty good natural counter to German because war clubs and bow rider openings that you can do, so maybe he was trying something different. Also, he did lose the outpost but it kind of forced me into sending clubs first rather than the 700w I wanted to, and he probably sent 3 SW, so it's not all that bad since he was able to send a better economic shipment.

I'll have to look into giving Lakota a shot, then. Always hated Germany - always that one random Uhlan ruining your day because you had the audacity to look away for a second to do literally anything.

Amazing match, that initial engagement near the TP with falcs.
I thought you were losing that, but then I realised he mostly took out unupgraded fodder which was good for costwise and gave you a look at his unit composition
After that, you just took him out whenever he was out of position. Death by a thousand cuts
Very good strategy, fun gameplay to watch
Tho you should have taken the TP near your TC rather than just going for 1
Have a good day, stay safe

Thank you! Yes, I would have liked to have 2 TP but the early action distracted me. Also could have gone for native tp on this map vs German for the age2 goons.

It feels as if fish is rarely worth investing that much into hybrid maps. Especially without the schooners card

Depending on the natural resources you have available, if you are cornered and have access to a lot of trees, then it's a good investment, even if you get 10-15 boats.

@@dimitrisoikonomou3568 I mean sure, if you ran out of gold/food you dont have much of a choice.
I am mostly concerned that unlike say aoe2, the wood cost/vil second cost is generally rather large, unless you get the schooners card or can build the first couple of docks "for free" (haude otto incas)
It feels that you have to pace your investment into boats a lot more carefully

I think they usually are. Though:
      • Most civs cannot do it super early, as the super early game is tempo orientated due to unit shipments.
      • It is actually weirdly better if you stop producing Fishing 🎣⛵ Boats after a while. That way to regain the tempo loss, as you get the Fishing Boats gathering without the cost of producing new ones. To be safe, just produce 10, which is the maximum that help in Dock attack when garrisoned.

@@UniDocs_Mahapushpa_Cyavana true, but we go back to what I presume that yes, there is a hard limit on how many you should get. Japan should use the 3boats and 5boats age1/2 double shipments for maps like Korea

19:30 was really weird to see. You lost a load of infantry to the uhlans. I guess it obviously worked out later with the dogs etc, but it feels like he had nowhere near enough anticav to stop you at the earlier fight as well - I would have been tempted to go for it with the cav you had at that point.

Ya I lost a ton of inf there, those cannons and skirm shredded. I'm usually a little hesitant to slam it in with Lakota because their eco isn't so great, which makes it hard to replace your army. I prefer to have all my upgrades and cards before fully committing. Losing army can be extra bad vs Germans because you need to defend vs raids after the fights.
