You could have added a little fishing boat on top to make sense out of the visible fishing line you have, he has caught a big fish, amazing work nonetheless
Was thinking that too! A little boat with a panicking fisher could be a fun addition.
That's what I was thinking
You could have Ash try to fish it out.
Just commented that, there are even Pokemon cards that show a fisherman freaking out over Gyarados's sudden appearance.
I think it's the same fisherman every time as well.
i'm pretty sure he's already done that
That shot of the spheal and then the light hitting Gary behind him is hecking masterful.
Yes absolutely 💖
@@Just_a_man_who_paints well if masterful wasn’t a word it is now

A tip for suspending things in resin: You could simply pour thin streams of clear UV resin onto a flat surface, cure them quickly with UV light, then peel them off and use them as hangers to suspend your objects in the container. It seems to work really well for a couple other resin art channels I've seen.
You have youtube channel, Why dont you upload?
@@MaarikMariI'll help: "You have a CZcams Channel, so why don't you upload anything?"
I THINK this is a case of 'oh, why dont you just do it, if you know so much' but just worded confusingly, instead of agressivly.
if that is the case, I really don't think they were trying to criticize Adam, I think they are trying to be helpful

I love how Adam comes up with new fancy nicknames for his creations. Gary needs a Basculin or Carvanha to keep him some company.

Adam you're the delicate fishing line that holds our weeks together waiting on your next amazing build! Poke-Tober is a favorite of mine for sure!
I see you're a "watch till the end" kinda person. I like you.
Seeing all the ways he comes up with to say that phrase is almost my favourite part of the video 😆
Incredible work, love seeing resin casting sculptures like this. The one visible wire though is a missed opportunity to have a very unlucky fisherman up top being dragged along by this monstrosity.
I love the way the finished product looks. I also wonder why some of the lines were visible when others weren’t. It didn’t look like it captured any air bubbles… so strange…
Perhaps because that is the only line at a 45 degree angle? All the others are vertical. Maybe the resin being pored in horizontal layers makes it hide horizontal layers in the line but when the line is at 45 degrees the layers in the line don't match with the layers in the resin?
he missed a chance to make a tiny fisherman
Oh tip! Coat the threads with resin first using a stick so that they don't coat themselves with air (it's what's making it so shiny and visible) when the main pour starts to solidify.
I read through the comments just to find this explanation, thank you!!!
I am not familiar with how resin works; Can a partial pour, just enough to support the model, then cut the lines and pour the rest after the first batch cures or would the seam line be to obvious? I think the easy "fix" for this one would be little row boat on top with a fisherman :)
@@artemas9336 the seam line would be very obvious however there's a trick where you can hide the seam line if you put some smoky resin as the base then clear at the top then via tube you can feed more smoky resin at the seam line after pouring the clear resin to make it look smoky and before taking the tube you'd need to gently fill the tube with clear resin then gently lift it up to avoid making weird lines or you could use it to make some nice details using said residue in the tube. Lots of possibilities just by using tubes. :D
But yes seam lines are very visible in resin due to the separation of material decomposition and if you do manage to hide it, it is still very prone to trapping bubbles or making cavitation bubbles because of the uneven structures of the materials after being exposed to air.
@@DreamingBlindly @JHarbour8889 ok that makes sense. Thank you both for the very in depth answers!
I know I’ve been watching too much Drawfee when I’m vaguely disappointed that Gyry will be lunching on an adorable and very round seal rather than something that looks like it’s wearing a leisure suit and does not like the cut of anyone’s jib. 😂
Really nice work. I love how leviathan-like and genuinely menacing Gyry turned out.
I’m glad to know I’m not the only one with that specific type of brainrot, lmao
I hate that I know EXACTLY what you mean 🤣🤣
I swear to god every time Julia draws a pokemon that is Just Some Guy I gain a year to my overall lifespan. Needless to say I am confident I will be immortal.
I don't think I'll ever be free of Spheal, his baboon-like posture and Bluetooth headset are stuck in my mind forever...
Julia's spheal is still one of the first results on google images, and that brings great joy to me.
I was tempted, but a realistic Drawfee Spheal is perhaps a bit too spooky even for the spooktober.
All the lines that blended in better were more vertically positioned, while those that are showing the most are more diagonally.
Probably being diagonally it interacts differently with the light hitting it on a different angle
That's my best bet as to why it worked well for most but not all of them
12:13 OMG HE SAID TECHNOBLADE NEVER DIES
YOOOOO
I think the line showed where it did because it had a much steeper angle then the rest of the lines, which caused the light to refract more obviously. Super loved the final product though, even with the little line. It was really cool looking as always!
The glamour shots were especially good this time with the way you lit up the seal-thing first, then the mouth... Amazing sculpt as always!
They were "I'd buy postcards of that image" level good, tbh. Adam, my herd of nerd friends make it a point to send mail to one another so if you ever wanna sell more merch, something like a 6 pack of postcards of some of your glamour shots would be a welcome addition!
I actually like the visible fishing line! it adds a depth of story. it looks like someone hooked the gyarados right as it was trying to catch the spheal. makes me curious how this line of events will play out lol. amazing piece and money shots!!!
I would love to see you make Latios and Latias realistically one day. It feels like there's not enough art of those two compared to other legendary Pokemon.
i thought that said latinos & latinas im sobbinf
I dont know if you've heard of it but theres an adorable creature called Ori from Ori and the Blind Forest. I personally love its design and I thought you were the perfect person to put him into clay. Him and other characters seem like they would suit your style of clay crafts. I absolutely love your content and seeing that notification that you've posted again always brightened my day. Hope you have a good one (:
Yess!!!
That fishing line trick almost worked perfectly- seems like it's fairly heavy line though, might be worth looking for the lightest weight line possible. Another idea might be to style rigid supports as something like seaweed, so that they are touching the bottom and sides of the model in a few places and hide stiff wire inside- no one will be the wiser...
How about magicians "invisible thread"?
@@blobofblutack That's just very thin fishing line
Or just make some small pillars out of the same resin. The index of refraction is identical and will disappear completely once the res of the resin is poured in.
As someone who’s absolutely useless at DIY and art, the tiny details and use of different tools blows my mind, so impressive
Looooooved how this turned out. It's also really cool to see the strangely mirror-like ends of the resin. This is so gorgeous! ; _ ;

I love the color of the water! It makes me think of a Japanese bay or maybe an alpine lake. I could totally picture myself kayaking and this thing comes out of the water in front of me lol
I love Gary's squad of magikarp, and I'm glad you decided to include them. They may not have the means to eat a spheal themselves, but they're there to support their massive bro during his hunt.
I like to imagine that in turn, Gary eats any carvanha that bother them while they're looking for scraps to munch on.
This is so awesome. I absolutely love realistic Pokémon. As a biologist I love seeing how artists try to make the Pokémon look realistic and see how the artist translates the Pokémon design to various different adaptations to explain the original design (even though you didn’t go too all out on that). I can’t wait to see more. Maybe you could do eevee and the eevolutions. I would love to see that. I hope that they are not too creepy. I love eevee.
I think a realistic Gyaradous would be an Eel, since it's the closest to a fish becoming a snake-like creature that eats fish. Besides enormous eerie jaw as well
@@auravaury I can 100% see that.
Love how Pokemon is translated into actual speculative biology by some illustrators myself, now I can't get enough of the subject and world building. Btw, what field of biology do you focus on?
@@randomsandwichian I am a basic biologist but I love evolution, ecology, adaptation, and mammalogy. But I also do art.

So I really love your sense of humor (it’s the same as mine) but also that you embrace your mistakes. It helps me to feel a lot better about my learning process as a very new amateur
This dude is just getting better and better at making the glamour shots look cinematic and cool. Also this project looks epic especially with the cinematic lighting.
That ending shot was absolutely fantastic. This would be such a cool display piece with a few LED’s times to light up in sequence like that from time to time.
Came for the sculptures, stayed for the comedy. Great stuf! Grtz from the Netherlands
Awesome job as always! just a random thought I had for that one out-of-place fishing line: you could have made a tiny fishing boat up on the water's surface being pulled along, as if a fisherman had caught more than he was bargaining for.
More likely than not, just as your resin was kicking, it caused a slight shift in the figure which slightly moved the line.
Haxorus would be awsome

Just an option for you, i’ve seen some people fill a straw with resin, remove it, and use the pillar to place “piece” floating at whatever specific height they wanted, then when the other resin fills the space, it all becomes 1 cohesive piece.

This feels like an amazing, artsy version of how it’s made, and i love it
Wow! I stumbled upon this by chance and I’m lucky I did. What an incredible build!
True story: I'm huge fan of this guy. My kids school had open art class so because of this channel I went there with my kids and thought I could do some cool pokemon clay statue for them, because there was everything you would needed for clay sculpting (space for work, equipment, colors etc). My kids also wanted Gyarados. I started very confident and I even made same kind commentary on my head than this guy. After three hours I took break, and I stand up for watching my statue little far away. And that moment I noticed that I haven't done gyarados, I made hyper realistic look dog sh@t.
lmao
Right? He makes it look so easy and always acts like he’s lazy 😂
It's mainly just experience. If you do crafts for a while it just starts coming fairly easy to you, the hardest part is mostly time.
That's a phenomenal build!
Just throwing an idea out there: if you want a thinner fishing line, why not try tippet? It's a specialized fly fishing line that's meant to be super-strong, thin, and see-through!
10:46 is Pokémon center theme as hammer taps.
I think this might be my favorite thing you've ever made. Cool work
I love it when artists go off model when making realistic Pokémon. It leaves a lot of room for creativity
0:56 they mostly bump into dolphins, orcas, and other cetaceans. Also I'm willing to bet at least a few of those are from eels or sharks, though if a shark bites a fish it's most likely not just in self-defense.
One of the few channels where I actually watch the content instead of just listening.
I've also realized 'wormy dealies' has made it into my vocab.
"Hindsight is 20/20 and 2020 was a terrible year". Gold!
You could add a fisher guy to line up wth the fish line that is showing. actually reminds me of the guaranteed encounter with the shiny gary in the game
I can feel the fear that Spheal is going through... Well done!
Wow, this is my first video from this channel, and it’s simply incredible! Great being able to see the process of such amazing art, along with some hilarious commentary!

Thank poketober for that 😜
6:54 got me laughing so hard lol
im happy that people haven't forgotten about this shiny
I love this one and you keep seeming to make something to haunt my dreams 😊.
Also the new legendaries would be cool realistic
a tip on getting suspended figures in resin, perhaps you could do multiple layers? one layer of resin big enough to hold gary, with enough room above him that you can have the fishing line to hold him up, then after it cures you can removed the fishing line and finish pouring the rest of the resin out. obviously this comes with the issue of having to pour multiple times, and thus trying to perfectly match the colours, and I am by no means experienced with resin, so take my words with a little bit of a grain of salt. much love
Sometimes when doing layers, air bubbles can show a slight "line" between each segment
@@weaselparanoia Can you not pop the bubbles as they come? Like with a blow torch
Fun fact: red is actually a pretty common colour in the depths as it's the colour that becomes "invisible" in water. This is why blood becomes green when you're only a few meters under. The marine horrors, that are called fish by the people who don't know what's down there, are using this colour for that exact reason. And then there's the dragonfish. Basically the only fish with the ability to see red. Now why is that useful down below where light does not reach? Because like many creatures there, it can generate its own light (bioluminescence). Though what makes the dragonfish fitting for a permban from life for cheating is because the light it generates is red too. So not only can it see red light, it also generates it. Basically an invisibility AND wallhack cheat. Also, other colours will make red scales simply turn black.
That lighting at the end with the Spheal was absolutely perfect!!
I had always seen the iconic red Gyarados everywhere so when I got a shiny magikarp on pokémon go I was SO EXCITED that I was going to get a cute blue Gyarados and was very confused when she ended up red, lol.
Lol so you neber saw a normal onr?
@@EirPlen I had seen them I just thought they were shinies 😭
Really sick model. Too bad the fishing line decided to defy all logic and be visible but it doesn’t take away from the fact that you’re an amazing artist and your creations are fantastic. Can’t wait to see what you do every week. When your videos pop up it’s always a treat.
Boats, ships, motors to them, giant octopus & squid, & coral are a few things they bump into 😻

I’m just imagining like his room or art room that has all of his project omg so cool
OF COURSE the one fishing line that doesn’t vanish is the one next to Gary’s FACE. Super curious to know why that happened that way ;;; And even still, it came out FANTASTIC-the composition of the figures in the resin is awesome (that reveeeeeeal at the start of the glamour shots! ♡) as are all the sculptures themselves!
My first thought is contaminates on the fishing line. But that one string appeared to be under stress while the others seemed more buoyant. This could have caused uneven thermal expansion, which will result in a bad looking bond.
Yea... that was unlucky, but it could pass for a fishing line if he ever chooses to sculpt a little boat and fisherman at a later date.
This is so cool! Having it use the shiny palette sort of reminds me of the Unagi from Super Mario 64.... now i'd love to see you do a sculpt of that next to a tiny Mario cured in resin!
This is only my thought if a "fix" to the fishing line could be to cover them in a thin layer of the resin first and then fill the mould (all in one go). It doesn't seem like air bubbles is the problem, but it's also the only logical thing I can think of as well. It could be that this part of the fishing line have been more worn out for whatever reason and then had a thin oily layer or something that stopped it from getting completely covered. Could also maybe just try to clean the wire with alcohol before pouring the resin.
But again I'm just throwing ideas!
Anyways it looked really cool, and I agree to what the others have said as well with your skills improving a lot!
Swim Spheal swim! That model looks awesome, terrifying yet cool
I found this channel just a few days ago and have been bingewatching so many videos. The editing is always fantastic as are the creations. 10/10 it's been a great time and this was a great time too. Excellent work!

Honestly the visible fish wire adds more to the sculpture. To me with my imagination it looks like Gary was harpooned
The shot where Gyarados came into view from behind the spheal reminded me of my first time seeing a reaper leviathan in subnautica, awesome stuff!
Your sculpting has improved an insane amount. Holy shit you have some serious sculpting chops.
honestly that very visible line was sign you could have added a fisher on top of the water in a rowboat, fighting desperately to reel in their catch.

Imagine if all that was left of human civilization was North of the Border Videos. Aliens would be terrified of the monsters of our time
This reminded me of a reaper leviathan from Subnautica, especially that initial reveal shot. It would be cool to see you make one of the creatures from that game

He already did look it up
i first started watching you at the start of poketober last year and have watched all of your vids since. you truly are an amazing artist
Omg this is amazing! Love all the little details.
The line is visible because it's created an air pocket around itself. Put resin on the line before you pour and you shouldn't get any tapped air.
Really nice build!
It's amazing how you can imagine something and boom... there it is. But what I mean by that is that your so good at making your realistic crafts.
Seeing you do these Pokemon and realistic iterations makes me wanting you to do Yugioh Monsters. The Toon World versions of monsters or maybe even realistic Ojama Trio would be dope

Great job!
He should open a gallery with his creations
16min since release and 4.6K views already. THAT'S how you know you are making some awesome videos! I cant wait to see what else you make!
Just an idea: You could've save the whole thing (though it looks beautiful still) by extending the whole art with adding a fisher pokemon trainer who's trying to catch Gyarados from a boat/ship.
the fact that Gary is trying to eat a spheal is genious to me. Wild Pokemon gotta eat too.
