FNAF 2 is the Worst One, Actually

- This may be my most controversial video yet…. Look I try to just make positive stuff, but I had to get this off my chest. I really, truly don’t understand why people like FNAF 2 so much. ESPECIALLY over games like FNAF 1 and FNAF 3 right next to it in the franchise, let alone the amount of people who like it more than Help Wanted. Like, come on. Help Wanted has a better version of FNAF 2 INSIDE itself. I don’t know, maybe I’m way off here. Hopefully the Five Nights at Freddy’s community can forgive me.

How did you comment before 6 hours when the video was uploaded before 3 minutes
@@SqueakyNerdBs CZcams videos are usually uploaded by the creator hours before so it can be checked for monetization
Probably fnaf 4 because its just kinda boring but it is somewhat lore heavy which which is nice
Security Breach. Probably the game I pretend doesn’t exist the most
Probably fnaf 3
FNAF 2 is easily the most nostalgic for me. I have a core memory of coming home from soccer practice, eating pizza, and being so hyped to check my sub box and seeing Markiplier post episode one out of nowhere.
That's totally fair, with a series like FNAF nostalgia is a big factor
@@RyeToast I feel the same
I remember downloading markipliers videos and watching them by my uncle around the time fnaf 2 came out
It was my first FNAF game so I obviously feel nostalgic about it too, and it was even my favorite FNAF game for a while, but I gotta admit that it is by far the worst one and one that I usually avoid playing because I don't think it's fun at all, unlike the others
soccer :(
I diz-lik'e zocer.
Agree with most of this except Withered Chica. That thing looming over you with its arms outstretched and mouth opened impossibly wide, it’s by far the scariest animatronic.
Hey that's valid. It just reminds me too much of a T Pose
@@RyeToast chica t poses to establish her dominance above all, obviously. As t posing normally does
the toys arent supposed to be scary
and the puppet is called the puppet for a reason
Its supposed to resemble a literal puppet
@@eclipsemewtwo1422 yeah she doesnt have or show dominance above all the t posing is just fun shenanigans
@@ch4rliegaming if the toys aren't supposed to be scary then what are they. Why are they in the game
I wish they could've slowed the music box rundown time, and made vent lights inaccessible, plus Phisnom's idea of using the camera light to shine away the withered animatronics, all creating a better use for the camera + lights in the first place
Exactly! Or hell, it might be a little too complicated but give us different masks for the withereds or the toys so we have to know who's coming
@@RyeToast i think maybe we could instead use Withered Bonnie's original mask (c'mon, the opportunity was always there), but i wish there was some more unique was to screw with the toys, maybe something with their facial recognition, or maybe some sort of audio lure because of how phone guy says "They walk to where there's noise"
@@RyeToast I think that would be a bad idea. It would add too much UI which would make for an unpleasant playing experience and it would also break it away from the traditional FNAF, which is not good considering FNaF 2 is part of the original quadrilogy. Lastly, it would make the game way more complicated than it already is.
@@RyeToast or maybe
The Withereds just like foxy are smarter and The mask won't work on withered Freddy if he gets in and he will kill you or to add onto that if you use the Bonnie mask on withered Bonnie he will kill you and take his face back
Or an animatronic that makes a sound cue and you have to frantically look for it on the cameras. That would be scary
I have a lot of thoughts about this but the biggest thing that jumped out at me is I think withered Chica looks so interesting. I always interpreted her weird t pose thing as looking painful. Especially as a kid it hit this perfect level of making her look completely mutilated in a way the other withereds don’t. Her arms are kind of out like a crucifix and her weird bugged out eyes made her look dead. Not like a kid stuffed in a suit dead like actual recently deceased person who was tortured dead. The big bars in her mouth also helps with the tortured thing. The way she has to move reminds me of when things get all stiff when they die or like when you die in a fire your arms kind of do a similar thing. I don’t know I just like her.
Imo I feel as though Fnaf 2 was the easiest and when it came out it was pretty fun, but after the first jumpscare or 2 it wasn't so scary, but the cutscenes and the hidden death screens definitely were a treat.
100% agree
I think people hold this one in such high regard because for the nostalgia for people, was hyped to the moon and was the midway point before the series became a lot more complex. People who liked Fnaf for just being a one off pizzeria horror game riffing off Chuck E. Cheese I can imagine would like this one the best because it had no complicated lore (cryptic sure but not complicated) and actually involves the animatronics in a pizzeria.
FNAF 1 and 3 are the easiest.
FNAF 3 Just makes sure if your a coward or no
@@ch4rliegaming Fnaf 2 has (correct me if I'm wrong) 10 major threats, the 4 toys, the 4 withereds, the puppet and BB.
80% of those threats, are completely incapable of killing you, if you put a mask on. Then one, just requires the main hall's light for foxy, and holding down a button on the camera.
Fnaf 2 was just holding the puppet box, shining a single light by a button, and wearing a mask.
It is objectively easier, than fnaf 1.
(I will agree though, that fnaf 3 was very easy as well, since nothing could kill you, except springtrap, who was stopped by pressing a single button on the furthest camera, and locking thr vent to the office (with no power to worry about for the lock).
I'd say in terms of difficulty from the first 4 games:
Fnaf 3 < Fnaf 2 < Fnaf 1 < Fnaf 4.
@Ace Faz fnaf 2 is easily the hardest to 100%. I dont think night 6 and below were that hard, but 10/20 is MUCH harder than 4/20 agressive or night 8. Most people who have beaten 50/20 still haven't beaten 10/20 on fnaf 2 (its pretty luck based, which makes it really hard)
fnaf 2 was definitely not fun for me but it's fun to watch others play and the hype was wild back then
Oh the hype and nostalgia definitely there, it just doesn't necessarily make it a better game unfortunately
Security breach had a lot of hype and look at that game now
Go fck yourself fnaf 2 is the best one
@@RyeToastFNAF 2 does not give me the vibes that FNAF 1 does.
It has a lot of animatronics and really saturated colors. I don't really know how to explain, but i think you understand.
One thing I honestly loved about FNAF 1 was the lighting. The dark gloomy settings at each camera, the dim light in your office, and especially the animatronics themselves, specifically Freddy. He always has this threatening look on the cameras, never really giving you a good look at his face, unnervingly laughing as he creeps his way towards your office, until you get jumpscared by him, and even then, you can barely even see his eyes. Another detail I enjoyed was having the eyes of the animatronics hidden on the showstage. Almost giving a look of them being dead, until Freddy looks over at you, still hiding his eyes, but with two glowing white dots instead. The atmosphere of Fnaf 2 just didn’t really have that same charm, granted I do personally love the gameplay, it just seems too bright and exciting to really be scary.
@Erin Allen the thing about security breach is, I don't think steel wool was really trying to make it scary for most of the game, meanwhile fnaf 2 is trying be scary but it fails at that
Fnaf 2 and SB are ny favourites so far, so maybe I just like brighter and colourful settings? Still pretty scary imo-
Well, it makes sense for fnaf 2 having a lot of bright, it was fazbear entertainment prime, while in fnaf 1 was Made with low budget
Bro is on thin ice rn
😳🥺
You're saying that as if it's a threat XD Most people agree FNAF 2 was kinda... frantic and trying too hard.
@@d4n737 it's not a threat but I've heard the complete opposite so it's whatever
The FNAF 2 ambience at this point makes me laugh and all tension just goes away whenever I hear it
Probably because it became a meme
I still feel tense cuz I don't wanna get killed by robots that look like satan's minions
This one feels like a competitive FNAF game lmao
Lol fr
The thing that makes fnaf one most scary for me is the claustrophobic feeling, you're in a dark small square cornered in a dark closed pizzeria helplessly trying to keep giant possessed creatures away from your little corner
I think the small office is comforting. Having the huge office with no doors always feels like something’s hiding in there with me.
Yeah and the atmosphere in fnaf one was just so unmatched. It's honestly terrifying
Fnaf 6 feels more claustrophobic and it makes the gameplay tense, it also feels very Unsafe because your right in the middle of vents
The amount of heat this man must have gotten for this video😅
You don't understand the sweat that started forming when FNAF 2 won the tournament on Tuesday
I voted 3 on that one 🤣
When 2 came out I noticed the the music box thing and skipped out on that hassle

@@RyeToast it's fantastic and pulls right at my heartstrings. MM has always been my favorite Zelda game, and the darker mature themes work well in tandem with the spooky vibes of FNAF lore!
@@lavieestbellexx Me too! I even made a Majora’s Mask replica
@@dr.happyfuntimes1214 that's awesome!! I'm working on one myself at the moment!
When Toy Chica's most memorable aspect is what the community has *done* to her, you failed to make a scary character, you made... something else.
I’m glad Scott made toy chica, I really like the character and a lot of others do as well, although he should’ve made her NOT a killer animatronic in a horror game, and rather a cartoon character or something in a game that’s meant for the player to be attracted to characters. Idk why Scott didn’t learn his lesson but glamrock chica looks like she was designed to be hot rather than a kid friendly glamrock chicken.
@@skillatar4572 I dunno, Toy Chica's pretty scary in certain cameras. I think it has less to do with the design and more how the design is used. I think it'd work a lot better if she were treated more like Freddy in the original game, being obscured and hidden. It'd be interesting too, she's the one with the brightest colors, and so making it difficult to see her would be a fun way to change it up. That first camera she moves to where she's in the corner and you can only barely see her face is pretty great.
@@skillatar4572 I feel like Steel Wool decided to appeal to the extremes of the FNaF community, kids, and those that dwell on websites that shall not be named
They are the reason why I always turn safe search on when I look up FNAF.
She looks like an iced sugar cookie.
Toy chica is not scary
The internet has a different feeling for her

I mean, it could’ve been Withered Chica
😅
Considering UCN, I think so did Scott
FNAF 2 might be flawed, but we're getting FNAF + as a direct result so it's all worth it.
Absolutely true
FNAF 2 Open source is very good
And i dislike that the designs COMPLETLY changed but since its a different story, ok
I guess your right.
Uhhhhhhhhhhhhhhhh i think fnaf plus is somewhere in heaven
Oof this hurts
Personally, I prefer the music box in FNAF 2 due to it adding tension. The problem was that most of the animatronic play way too similarly. At least with the first game the smaller animatronic count helps the small differences help them stand out, and while the animatronics in FNAF 6 all act the same it has that sense of uncertainty that makes up for it, and is more reliant on audio to increase tension. I know a lot of people like the faster pace of this game compared to the others, but to me that takes away any horror, and makes it less scary then what I’ve seen of Security Breach (I’m probably going to get so much hate for saying that). In terms of the jumpscares, I actually prefer the jumpscares in 2. Ignoring the complaints towards jumpscares in general (because we’ve probably heard them all to death), the ones from FNAF 1 look goofy as hell, and as if they’re having a seizure. A lot of the ones from FNAF 2 look like the animatronic are jumping at you, which makes them work slightly better imo.
You probably already know this, but the music box plays the chorus from _My Grandfather's Clock._ It was this song that inspired the invention of the grandfather clock.
Ngl tho imo the jumping at you is so good and only works for The Puppet and Foxy since they are running towards you and Mangle since they are on the roof. Toy Chica and Bonnie don’t make sense to me since they are right in front of you.
I fully agree with the last part about the jumpscares in FNAF 1. It's also funny how this guy didn't mention Mangle's jumpscare, which was the best in the game
i could understand why people hate it, but it will stand as my personal favorite.
That's totally valid
Lmao, I need that "THIS IS A JOKE" Warning for me IRL. I deliver jokes so deadpan some people mistake it for serious. I found that incredibly humorous
I'm glad!
Yo same lol
FNaF 2 is actually the only FNaF game I've personally played so far (Pizzaria Sim and Custom Night are just collecting dust in my Steam library haha). I vividly remember going to a friend's house, and they were so excited to show it to me when I told them I was interested. I was mesmerised by the cameras for so long that Mangle came and killed on night one, something I didn't even know was possible. So maybe my perception is a bit skewed, but for some reason that afternoon means a lot to me haha. I also like a couple of the character designs they added, mostly Mangle.
To me, FNAF2 feels rushed in ways no other game in the franchise does. The jumpscares feel especially phoned in, and I'm glad that its concept got to be revisited in Help Wanted (Mangle scares the absolute CRAP out of me in that game), but the original really feels like it was pushed out 95% finished as to not miss the hype of FNAF1.
100000000% agree
It doesn't just *feel* rushed, factually it kinda *WAS* rushed. I mean, it came out just months after Fnaf 1
Fnaf 2 came out exactly 87 days after fnaf 1
@@AngelDustMyBel0ved I mean every game at that time where coming out a few months after each other. That’s just how fact Scott was producing these games. But it’s true that fnaf 2 came out faster than expected
I still remember my mom playing a fnaf game and throwing her phone after getting jumpscared lmao
Fnaf is so nostalgic for me because I was in sophomore year at school and had just moved back to my original school after being away for 4 years and had made lots of great friends, plus I just love the designs even if they’re not creepy
Hey that's totally valid. Tbh a lot of people's favorite FNAF games are just which one they played first too. I know mine is whether or not I want it to be lol
I dislike fnaf 2 because it was a pain to code a control bot for it because the mask and camera opening and closing are just slightly different from the ones in fnaf 1 which means I couldn't reuse that script and had to spend 3 hours coding it. The game is alright though
Niche but fair
@@RyeToast That's how it goes lmao
What could be done to improve FNAF 2? For one thing, the music box should wind down A LOT slower. It wouldn't become a priority but it's still in the back of your head, which ups the tension.
What did you use for the background music for the "Gameplay" section. I've heard it before, but I don't remember where...
Totally fair, and it's Bossa Nova from Billy Hatcher!!
czcams.com/video/MeVRMo1n8b8/video.html
@@RyeToast Ah yes, thank you! I knew it sounded familiar. It was also one of songs you can choose in Sonic and Sega All-Stars Racing
For me, as I’m VERY jumpy, and visuals aren’t the most scary to me in any horror game, FNAF 2 is easily the best. So much anxiety builds up as the part I’m scared of the most? The jumpscares. (More the “sudden thing appears” then the animation itself.) this anxiety leads to me making the wrong decisions in game, leading to a jumpscare. It’s an endless loop of clouded decision making. The decisions I do end up making in a panic is using the cameras to see incoming animatronics from better angles, more often then not leading to a jumpscare.
Same. I’m in a constant state of tension when playing FNAF 2, especially on later nights when they all keep coming at me.
My idea for making the whitered animatronics "better" is making them weak to light, like foxy, make them not affected by the mask and the only way to scare them away is flashing the light, with this it ads a reason to look for other cameras and stall and even possibly restart/go back their position, much like Springtrap in fnaf3
100% would be an upgrade. Any way to differentiate them from the toys is a bonus
I'd have the mask fool the Withereds supporting Phone Guy's theory they think you're a naked Endo. We know Phone Guy is wrong but at least he'd have a reason to think it could work.
Also, the Toys have facial recognition software. Maybe repeatedly flashing them messes with it, and they think they're being photographed?
Y'know, Phisnom's deleted remake (AFF:OS) had a very similar idea:
You had to find Bonnie and Chica in the cameras and hold the light on them and they'd go back to the backstage. Foxy would appear in the hall, but holding the flashlight would make him go away for some time (much better mechanic imo). Freddy, I don't really remember, but I guess you had to not run out of power.
I definitely remember FNAF 2 being my least favorite of the first three games when they came out, so I'm glad that a bigger CZcamsr is finally saying FNAF 2 kind of sucks.
But I also think WIthered Chica would've easily been the scariest Withered if she wasn't T-posing. The two layers of teeth she has are creepy and I think her eyes make her look more frantic/crazed. She looks great in UCN too, fully capitalizing on her creepiness. It's a shame Scott designed her this way in FNAF 2.
when you watch people play fnaf 2 in vr via help wanted, you can easily see why its the worst one
To be fair, in FNAF VR, there were no withereds besides foxy and even then foxy leaves extremely quickly and you can wind up the box while looking around in the office
Every vr remake from help wanted it's worst than the actual thing tho
@@carpinteroyabe but its better since its about 1000000x times more scary and ur guaranteed to get scared no matter what.
@@Cupcakkes2girlsand1cup they reimplemented the withered
I think the reason this game is up there as one of my fave FANF games is for the fact it wasn’t scary due to the hustle 😂 Although I personally think withered Chica is terrifying asserting her dominance with a T pose 😂😱
See that's fair, if you like it because it's not scary I can't fault you for that. That's just the reason I dislike it is all
FNAF 2 introduces some iconic animatronics, though. BB, Puppet, Mangle, and the shadows are cool. The withered designs are great as well.
That's fair, I can't say it's not iconic
Nah FNAF 2 isn't bad its just decent enough none of the FNAF games are bad just because sone glitches and story cut in half of FNAF SB doesn't mean its bad we'll its just a theory folks 💓
That's fair, at least I can definitely say it's my least favorite
I’d say SB is bad, but that’s kinda part of the charm of it. It’s so busted and the plot is so nonsensical that it goes back around to being good again.
@@Vinesusin my opinion fnaf without lore is what made fnaf 1 scary, you dont know nothing about, but when the series focuses was in the lore every time the games started being less scary for me
I still love fnaf 2, but I do understand why you don't like it. I have to agree with the jumpscares and the mechanics. I love the models too
This is one of the biggest hot takes I have ever seen for FNaF 2. And I applaud you for it.
I really liked FNaF 2 when I played it, but I do agree with you on the lack of variety on the animatronics’ mechanics and the lack of tension. Awesome video.
Also, I do like the idea of the music box. It adds a sense of dread and panic to your run, it also gives you a reason to use the cameras (and also challenges you to conserve battery), that said, yeah, I wish seeing the cameras was more beneficial than harmful to the gameplay.
If I remember correctly, FNaF 2’s main theme is panic. The panic of being overwhelmed with a lot to do. The idea, while good in concept, I think it ends up undercooked and lackluster in this game.
One thing I did actually like about the gameplay of FNAF 2 was that the Withered versions of Freddy, Bonnie, and Chica as well as Toy Freddy can force your camera down when they get into your office. It doesn’t happen all of the time, but that just makes it all the better. I love the tense feeling you get when you know they are coming to your office and every time you open up the camera to wind up the music box, at any second one of them can just catch you completely off guard and end your night right there and then. You always have to be on guard in anticipation and the game rewards fast reflexes. That’s what I think FNAF 2’a gameplay is based on. Fast reflexes. It fits the chaotic feel of the games and despite it not holding up as well as it did back then, I still see the game as an important part of FNAF history.
Love how when Fnaf 2 lore is told no one mentioned the opening that is repeated constantly throughout the series where you’re in Freddy and have both robots beside you as you become sentient it’s done in help wanted and done again in beginning of security breach but no one ever points it out
I absolutely disagree about Puppet's and Withered Foxy's jumpscares. Sure, the rest of them may not be the scariest in the history of franchise, but they are different. They have that movement required from jumpscare to be a good one. Foxy is not like for example toys that spawn in your face, he jumps on you from the distance with a terrifying scream, while the Puppet somehow flies on your face with grace. Yes, gameplay may make it difficult for them to be scary in the long run, but if we look at them without it then they absolutely meet every possible requirement for a good jumpscare. Also, their appearance in minigames as ending jumpscares really sticks in my memory.
You know that's a fair point on the jumpscares
I actually broke my phone back in the day because after my first puppet jumpscare, I got so scared I threw the phone 😭.
I feel like I still have trauma because of the puppet and every time i see her I feel uneasy, so good job Scott.
Visually, the jumpscares are good, but when you think about the logic behind it... like with Foxy. How in the actual hell is a giant robot LEAPING at somebody?
My main complaint of fnaf 2 is that the cameras are absolutely useless. There is no reason to look at them.
For real!!!
that literally applies to every single game in fnaf
@@brythebryestofbrys no it doesn’t lmao. They are very useful in fnaf 3 and in fnaf 1 you have to check on foxy and track freddy to know when he’s at the door.
@@BK-sh2pn then you have to check the cameras to wind the music box right?? the same formula applies to fnaf 1 and i guess you're right about having to use cameras in fnaf 3 but it honestly just seems very nitpicky. I will admit I wish we could've used the cameras to look at the cool shots in fnaf 2.
@@brythebryestofbrysin fnaf 1 we can use the cameras for whatever we want, to stop freddy and foxy, to look at bonnie and chica, see easter eggs and etc, but fnaf 2 has hundreds of cameras but one we use in the entire game, THATS the problem
I guarantee the reason FNAF 2 has blatantly lower production value with things like the jump scare animations is because Scott was totally caught off guard by FNAF 1's success. He rushed the work on a sequel like his career depended on it to strike while the iron was hot, despite not planning on making a sequel beforehand.
Definitely feels like it
I think the reason why Withered Chica is so scary, in my opinion, has a lot to do with the eyes. They're large, unblinking (due to no eyelids), and seem off-center in some shots, and the iris is shrunken down just enough to make her look menacing. The model you use to demonstrate her don't do her much justice, as the irises are too large and centered. That shot in UCN where she's in the vent, where she's looking at you with large yet shrunken eyes, as well as that off-center look to make her look unhinged, is particularly terrifying. The same thing goes for that Withered Freddy shot when he's in your office, and he has that off-centered look in his eyes that make him look unhinged.
Withered Bonnie is easily one of the only designs from fnaf2 thats lived rent-free in my nightmares lmao
in 2024 he's just gonna transform into an apron.
Don't tell people my secret
I always loved the renders in FNaF 2. They always looked so realistic (apart from mangle ofc) and seeing the withereds standing in your room is terrifying, but I think the main problem is that once you get to about night 5 it just becomes a cycle and it loses its feeling
If they made the pizzaria and office a little bit less bright it would become 100% scarier
This is the one video of yours that I am..not the most fond of? Maybe it's because the first guy to make this sort of take on FNaF 2 was Theft King (ew) and he did that recently, but, while a lot of your points are valid and I agree with most of what you have to say, I can't help but feel like you're not looking hard enough. Specifically on the character designs. While I get terror is personal, I unironically find Withered Chica one of if not the scariest animatronics in the franchise, due to her uncanny and unnerving look. Her jaw broken open and dangling hungrily, her never blinking eyes too small for her head, almost looking as if in a constant state of pain or shock, and, yes, even the T-Pose, that odd and out of place position that just makes me feel hopeless and makes her feel giant, likely due to her slightly hunched over look. It's like she's looming over the player, staring deep into their eyes and starving to rip them apart. She looks and acts unnatural, crooked, and aggressive, all combining to make her utterly horrifying in my book. But hey, ya win some ya lose some and, even if I can't really agree with you on a lot of things mentioned, I can still definitely see where you are coming from.
Hey that's totally fair! It's also the first time I made a more, opiniony, less theory focused FNAF video. And your opinion is completely valid! I agree that it's a pretty good model, I'm just, idk. Something about it doesn't click for me. Not sure why
@@RyeToast Right. As I said, different strokes for different folks. What I find scary may not be the same as everyone else, and I can see the animatronics scariness being very varied from person to person.
Scott's solution to making it harder was add more mechanics.
And it was a terrible solution
Im really think that the term "RNG" in fnaf games started in fnaf 1, and in fangames to, ucn is more fun than fnaf 2 because of the variaty in my opinion
12:40 My problem with Withered Foxy is that standard Foxy is already in disrepair and both end up very similiar to each other. It's shocking going from normal Bonnie to Bonnie without a face, not so much with Foxies.
I think a lot of the nostalgia and appreciation comes from watching people play the game rather than playing it themselves. The game quality radically changes bases on whether you're playing vs watching it
To be fair I've always seen the original game as the worst, mainly due to it being the first game and the fact that the story is barely there compared to the story we would get with the later games
It really isn't any story in the first game, but I do think it's one of the scariest in the franchise still
I think Scott's idea was just to start off without a solid story, but also to lure fans with subtle hints of lore
Fnaf 1 is easily my favorite fnaf of all of them
I actually think the first game works perfectly as a self contained story, but when the second decided to be a twist prequel, the story immediately got too complicated. They refer to a previous location to trick you into thinking they mean the first games setting, but SURPRISE it was 1987 the whole time. It makes the first game feel like a whole step backwards in terms of the progression of the Fazbear company, it just doesn't feel natural. If it was a straight up sequel or straight up prequel, it would've worked better. But, no, they had to pull a gotcha.
Withered Chica was the only withered animatronic that actually scared me.
I really like Fnaf 2, but I find it really frustrating how ungodly RNG-based it is.
The game can choose at any moment to just end your game and there's nothing that you an do about it. I failed night 5 so many times and just gave up because it wasn't letting me win, and I've never had this much trouble before with it so it was a shock to me.
I love how he gave a warning for his joke, so Twitter users won’t cancel him.
i remember playing it as a kid and feeling that the game was "rushed". even as an eight year old it felt pretty low key, and i personally like this type of charming. i think the point of fnaf 2 wasn't really creating horror, but rather chaos, which is completely lost when you play it too many times, it just becomes annoying. but i get what they were trying to do.
also, no, whitered chica is one of the bests, oh god how i fear opening my eyes and just seeing this thing leaning to me with it's open arms and gigantic, stretched mouth.
I’m glad more people are finally coming out and saying that this isn’t really that good of a game. When I first started playing this series I was hyped to play fnaf 2 since I loved fnaf 1 so much and I had heard people say that fnaf 2 is one of the best. But the game was just disappointing. I only felt scared on night one and that’s because I was still learning the controls but after that I didn’t feel scared at all and had a straight face the entire game. What I love about fnaf is the strategy involved and how you really have to think about you next move. It’s why I personally believe that fnaf 3 is the best game in the series. In that game every action you make has some sort of consequence. If you try to look for springtrap on the cameras for too long then your systems will start to fail. If you spend too much time on the systems then springtrap will get closer to your office. In fnaf 2 there is no thought. It’s just mind numbing reflex based gameplay.
Yeah.. I agree. I was just playing fnaf 2 after a long time. Everything just goes way too fast. I have to wind the music box, check vents, check hallway, and repeat. I don't even have time to take a look a the cameras and see the cool stuff around the pizzeria. The music box just needs to slow down a bit too. I have to do it super fast. Sometimes, theres just too many animatronics to deal with to the point that you can't even wind up the music box and get jumpscared. Foxy is also kind of annoying. You have to flash your light at foxy like 100 times, which wastes your battery, just to see him again 8 seconds later. The only important camera is the puppet camera. The other ones are just completely useless. You can't even take your time to just look at all the stuff in the cameras. Everything goes too fast to the point that it just doesn't feel like a horror game anymore.
My favorite part of fnaf 1 was the way everything looked. It really did look like an after hours children's pizzeria you were staying the night at and I don't think any other game has the same ambience
It’s nice to see people changing their mind with sister location and fnaf 2, I just wish people would see how underrated fnaf3 is
Bro Fnaf 3 is probably the moust overrated, every npc loves it, what are you talking about? If anything Fnaf 2 is underrated and this video proves it just by existing.
Yeah, fnaf 2 is over super underrated, markiplier cries when someone says the game is bad, forces markiplier
In my opinion, while FNAF 2 itself hasn't held itself up to play it undeniably has introduced the most important parts of the FNAF series: Purple Guy, The Puppet, the Withereds / the OG non-fnaf 1 pizzaria, etc. FNAF 2 separates the FNAF 1 Matpat connecting the lore to irl Chuck E Cheese theories to the more modern Purple Guy, Golden Freddy and Puppet lore
this game really was what got me ink the series, but as i’ve gotten older i’ve agreed it really isn’t as good as the other ones.
it was my favourite when i was a kid though specifically because it was less scary💀
Un(popular) opinion: fnaf 1 its the most scarier game in the series
Honestly it is the best uncanny horror in the series
Good to see that more people are talking about this game's flaws. With you and theft king covering this, the opinion will get out better
Got the popcorn ready
More like marshmallows for the roast that's about to happen
Someone call "uhyeah" I wanna see his opinion
I am curious I'll admit
found the guy who didn’t flash foxy enough
Is the guy who didn't flash foxy enough in the room with us?
Something worth mentioning on the jumpscares is that Mangle’s here is arguably one of the best in the franchise. The way it descends from the ceiling as it lunges towards you with its gaping maw is by far the best jumpscare in this game. There’s a reason people in the community believed that Mangle did the Bite of 87 for YEARS, and it’s all from this one animation.
Honestly i have such a soft spot for 2 and i dont even know why. I just really like it for no real reason
Honestly the only FNAF game I've ever beaten is Help Wanted when I was like 12. I will get around to finishing them all soon enough but I always preferred content made about the games than the games themselves. You have pretty good editing although in some parts it doesn't look great like in the transitions but nothing awful. Good on you man!
This is probably going to be a hot take but if FNAF 6 didn't have the lore or characters it would be a trash game and FNAF 3 is a far better ending to the series in my opinion
That's fair, but to be fair the Lore it has is really good. And I'm a sucker for a tycoon game
@@RyeToast yeah the tycoon mode was great but it needed like 500% more of it, it's mainly the night portions that really ruin it and the shortness of the tycoon
theft king would love this
theft king is a lolcow. Anyone who takes him seriously is a joke.
Why couldn't you just let me forget he existed 😭
@@dystopic4555 because he is too damn funny
Fnaf World was literally scarier than Fnaf 2, and even Security Breach had better mechanics.
That says a lot-
👀👀👀👀
Omg the Spyro music 😭 Ty for a fun video!
Thank you!!! For watching
I call it visual p*orn. Having several animatronics to overload your senses but that's the only positive.
You call the animatronics what 😳
Who doesn't like getting a toy chica jumpscare
@@Flowey_the_Flower. "she's such a bad bitch tho"

Bro what? P🅱️rn is already visual. What the hell are you saying?😂
@@bigbadgammagnome Scenery p*rn; Obscenely detailed and ornate background.
I agree. FNAF 2 just doesn't cut it.
Thank you! Glad I'm not alone here
@@RyeToast But I do think that Withered Chica is scary. In contrast to your point, I find her far scarier than the other Withereds, but it costs the design the uncanny aspect.
And yes, the jumpscares are definitely below average in FNAF 2.
I'm seriously so proud of how much this channel has grown since I started watched a few months ago, keep up the great work! :)
Aside from the painful gameplay loop, I feel like the biggest issue of fnaf 2 is the lighting. The designs of all the animatronics are good, but we don’t always see them in the best lighting. The reason that the pizzeria simulator scraps are so menacing is primarily because of their size mixed with the lighting of the scene. By contrast, the png jumpscares of the toys are painfully obvious because they are pre-rendered with lighting that doesn’t match the office. Any shadows on the toy animatronics would be a massive improvement. And maybe some sparks from the wires on the withered animatronics would help
Another thing that would add to the horror would be animations of the animatronics moving and stalking their prey. I know Scott prefers the non-moving corpse-like animatronics, but the first game literally tells you they move on night one. With the right animations and lighting, it would be the most terrifying in the series. And that’s why I’m looking forward to fnaf+.
Bro I have been saying this for YEARS. FNaF 2 has the absolute worst gameplay loop in the entire series, and I've never enjoyed the overall aesthetic, either. FNaF 2 has absolutely nothing going on for itself that any of the games in the series don't do, and even then, it does everything worse than those games.
Don't get me wrong, I still appreciate it for the lore that it introduced and how it introduced it. But other than that it's just not fun to play
@@RyeToast Yeah the story given almost saves it for me. Almost.
I pretty much agree with all your points, but I just gotta say why I think this is, because it kept nagging at me through the video.
When FNAF 1 came out, The Theorists jumped on it full force, pulling everything they could apart and trying to stitch together a story. My idea is that Scott saw this, and since he'd only just made the first one, didn't know exactly what direction to take the games in terms of lore vs. gameplay. Hence: the minigames are some of the most memorable parts (the H E L P T H E M voice and Springtrap happening are vivid memories for me) because they give info that turned out to be crucial and are interesting.
I'm pretty sure that even back then people were saying the jumpscares weren't scary - they kinda wore off. They were also saying "this is such a cool concept, monitoring the cameras", so just like the lore, he doubled down on that - checking everything, all the time, with the looming threat of that _damn_ music box.
True, the AI being the same for 3/4 of the animatronics is lame, but I can see it being a way to cut corners, and you wouldn't really know that on first play.
This _was_ the game I personally felt the most hype for, and Withered Bonnie is in it, but yeah, I don't think it's aged the best. If you compare FNAF 2 and 3, I think 3 seems like Scott figured out The Balance of the gameplay loop.
TL;DR Scott saw the overwhelming feedback on certain features that made FNAF 1 unique and amped them up to 11, creating a very cool and lore-rich but unfortunately chaotic game.
Good video as usual. Love the loaf kitty
I've always felt this way and I'm so glad to hear this. Minus the mini games and the lore drops, the FNAF 2 gameplay just feels "What if FNAF 1 but more stuff."And it's not necessary good stuff, it's just ...stuff.
I think FNAF 2 is actually the best. There was so much worldbuilding with it being in 1987, more murders, lockdowns, the minigames, and the mentioned Fredbear’s Family Diner. There are several things you have to do at once like put on the mask, wind the box, and shine the flashlight. It's actually challenging.
The diversity in horror from broken down animatronics to creepy and clownish ones to the ghostly shadows makes the game scary un so many different ways. The ambience with the hallway alarm is very creepy, and so is Balloon Boy's laugh.
I literally cannot see any universe where 2 is actually the worst - especially with game 3 having only one animatronic with the lamest junpscare in the series.
I've only been watching you for around a month know and I love watching all your videos!
Actually, I liked this video. I like FNAF 2 for it's fast pace, but I've only played it through once, it really doesn't have any replayability
Very fair, and thank you!
That title alone count your days
With outtakes in mind I'd imagine that your cat has heard you talking about Fnaf so much, that it is somewhat relaxing for it to hear you speak about haunted Animatronics - "Hm, oh yea, he's talking about the timeline again, purr" 😀😀
In my opinion( I am not a game developer so this may not work) I think that it would be interesting if Fnaf 2 went into a more stressed route. I mean being trapped in a building with 10 robots trying to get you could be really stressful. The fear should come from the fact of just how overwhelmed you are. Have the ambience have stressors. Imagine how scary it would be to have 10 instead of just 4 animatronics. Am I saying make it harder, no. Just having the feeling that a million things are moving at once to get you while you struggle to hold them back could lend itself to horror.
Finally, someone actually had the balls to say it lol. I've been trying to explain to people for YEARS that FNaF 2 is severely overrated thanks to nostalgia and hype. Not that there's anything wrong with that, I was around for it too and it was a great time. But nowadays, this game doesn't hold up, like at all. Like FNaF 1, it consists of doing the same boring, formulaic actions over and over with no variety, and unlike FNaF 1, offers absolutely nothing to compensate for that.
This game is horribly rushed to the point where characters like BB are just straight-up never mentioned in the phone calls because they were total last minute additions. This also leads to the AI being really screwy, luck-based, and unfair. On higher difficulties, you can play virtually perfect and sometimes still lose late in the night. It's exhausting for anyone. The panic or chaos is the main selling point of the game, and yet, it's so unbalanced and random that it just isn't fun like something like UCN can be. Then there's the fact that 9 OF THE 11 MAIN ANIMATRONICS can be repelled by doing the EXACT same thing and require no camera usage. That's horrible.
The atmosphere is also virtually non-existent, at least to me. In FNaF 1 you have a dark, eerie, claustrophobic workplace with soulless machines coming to life where you can just feel that something will go horribly wrong if they catch you. In FNaF 3, you have a grimy, unfriendly reminder of past events where you are alone with a reanimated serial killer. In FNaF 4, you have a child alone at night being stalked by horrific abominations straight out of hell that can't be reasoned with. These are all really creepy horror setups that are relatively unique from each other. FNaF 2's atmosphere is "the same thing, but again and this time there's more of them and they're always in your face so the actual jumpscare will have no effect." Big open office, repetitive gameplay, very little resource management, and character designs where half of them don't look remotely scary and the other half are in your face constantly or have easily telegraphed jumpscares. How did this scare anyone?
I also find it really amusing that many fans of FNaF 2 will defend its horrible balancing and coding with "you're just bad at the game/didn't try to find the right strategies" when it's the exact opposite. I guarantee you that almost anyone who likes this game hasn't played it for long and is part of the "watch Markiplier, don't play" crowd. When you have over 30 wins on 10/20 mode and helped pioneer new strategies for it like I have, you start to realize just how weak this entry really is.
Sorry for the rant but it's so exceedingly rare that I find anyone outside of my main friend group who agrees with me on this lol. Great video as usual Rye!
I'm glad I could back you up on that! And yeah I legitimately thought that it was a popular opinion to not like FNAF 2, so I was super surprised to see everybody ardently defending it. Thanks man!
The thing that stood out for me in fnaf 2 was how the sounds always stressed and scared the hell out of me
I’m not saying that the jump scares are good, but the most anxious I’ve ever been is when I don’t know if I pulled the mask down in time and don’t know if I’m about to be jump scared or not.
If the music box was taken away from fnaf 2 it'd be a much better game
yea agreed
The issue with withered Foxy might be his big head. It's not proportional with the rest of his body, so instead of looking scary he looks kinda goofy.
goofy ahh looking pirate fox 💀
Love the Spyro music in the background!
Glad you caught it!
1:04 Really just made me think of DHMIS "Call the below number. Or the above number! Or the diagonal number!"
Honestly I don't have too many opinions on this topic since I dont typically play the early fnaf games that much but wanted to leave a funny comment to help support
God I love the new season of DHMIS. So funny and deeply disturbing. Some of the best content out there
While I believe most of the stuff you said is kind of true. I still think it's a good game. I like Withered Bonnie's design as well and because of it, he's my favourite character. What I think Scott was trying to do with Withered Chica was to make her look bigger and more menacing with her arms up like that. I also think her stare is creepy.
FNAF 2 was always disappointing as a fan of the toys. None of them except Mangle are really active after night 3/4 and even on 10/20, they're barely a threat compared to Mangle and the Withereds
Fr
And good lord, does it get painfully tedious on the custom nights "Fazbear Fever" and "Golden Freddy (10/20)" due to the fact that it just gets more and more annoying each time you try to beat it, because it slowly becomes the same old story of: Camera gets forced down by a withered animatronic halfway through trying to wind the stupid box, toy bonnie shows up right before the music box is about to run out, and toy animatronics refusing to leave the vents on the left side
Great take, yea we don't have much time to look around on different cameras
Haven't watch this video yet but damn there has been a lot of fnaf 2 slander. It is definitely my favorite. Well, I'll watch and see if I'm convinced
I'd be interested in why it's your favorite
@@RyeToast Thanks for the reply! Love your videos, and I would love to hear your reply to my thoughts on fnaf 2.
for me, I just really like how fnaf 2 feels very thoroughly executed, something that can't be said for some other entries the the franchise. I'll break it down into esthetic, narrative and gameplay.
Esthetically and narratively I think it builds up on what made fnaf 1 so good. Cheesey rundown pizzeria, uncanny valley animatronics, disturbing subtext in the story that the characters try to avoid discussing. Despite the very bizzare premise it is presented in a very grounded way that to me makes a better horror experience. Narratively my only gripe is that future installments kind of made the significance of a lot of what is established in fnaf 2 kind of meaningless, but what is there I enjoy. Sister Location and onwards kind of loses me with the Sci fi esthetic and adding a dozen plot threads that don't seem to have been made to line up well.
Gameplay however is what makes fnaf 2 the best in my eyes. I love the speed of it. It really nails the 2 part attention that is necessary for a fnaf game imo. You have to balance the puppet, foxy, mangle, doorway animatronics and office animatronics. On night 5, 6 and 7 I feel like I know EXACTLY what I need to do, attempting to do that with perfect precision and speed gives me a lot of adrenaline. I really feel like I'm being attacked. This may be a hot take, but I never go back and play the orignal fnaf. I know people love the gameplay, but to me on easier nights it is dull and slow and on harder nights it is repetitive and frustrating. Sister Location is also one I don't go back to because to me it doesn't even feel like it has gameplay, it's a visual novel with minigames. Which is fine except that it's a incoherently written visual novel. This is probably just due to my preference in games because not a lot of people seem to agree with me.
If I had to rank the fnaf games I've played it would be 2, 4, 3, 6, 1, SL. Haven't played SB yet so we will see. Now that my rambling reply is done I'm gonna watch your video once done with work for the day.
I think the reason I like this so much is nostalgia like many others. The hype was crazy and the gameplay was another step up however I never played it. It was so crazy to see everyone freak out about fnaf and then boom not even half a year later the second one is out while the first is still fresh. The theories and all that were awesome too and personally I think the second is the good lore game however everything is convoluted. Idk where I was going with this, no fnaf game is amazing, it’s a 2d horror game but still they’re are all cool in their own way.
the sound @ 5:30 still gives me anxiety its eerie when you can actually hear the damn thing
Oh geez, the horn in the warning about the joke is one of my alarms. That was weird.
