- Belgian shot putter Jolien Boumkwo stepped out of her comfort zone, and onto the track, in order to save her team from disqualification.
The 29-year-old ran the 100-metre hurdles at the European Athletics Team Championships on Saturday in Poland, after her teammates pulled-out due to injury.

She gave it her best. /proud to be belgian. to risk being the subject of ridicule to save the team from disqualification for a no-show she stepped in and stepped completely out of her comfort/expertise zone.
Even if she had that attitude of “let’s just get this over with” she did it. She helped. Thats the point. Nobody else volunteered.

This is an excellent example of how healthy bodies can look so different from each other! This woman probably works out like a BEAST but she's twice the size of the hurdle jumpers.
Are you fat overweight?
YES! Exactly!
I agree, but just to be a nerd: top level competitors rarely have healthy bodies. Usually it's a huge sacrifice to be able to do few things at the highest level. So she has her problems, as well as those hurdle jumpers.
The logical fallacy you're promoting is that everyone is equally healthy. Yes, we are all different, but not every difference should be affirmed.

But everyone understood it from the start. That's why it's news. She's doing a side of an area of Track and Field that is out of her comfort zone. She's doing what it takes for her team and her country. Both are Olympic athleticism at its core, choosing to work together to show their country proud and then their individual chances happen.
I agree! Two very different forms of athleticism, but athletes just the same.
Even watching Male and female gymnasts trying to do the other genders events shows the difficulty in performing outside your sport.
You can see even just looking at her next to the other hurdles she's literally not built for this event.
