Restaurants and food carts that serve hella hot food, like Ghost Pepper and above, usually have you sign a waver. I don't blame the company on this one. They covered their ass with the warning and even had an age limit specified.

I ate the “deathnut” when i was 14 and my mouth burned like shit and i had my mouth under the faucet for 30+ minutes but didnt get anywhere near passing out or dying 💀

I’ve eaten it. They were selling it at a gas station I was working at last semester. Bet my coworker I could last longer than her. Terrible thing to attempt to do while on shift. Spent 20-40 minutes just washing my mouth out in the employee sink. Never had anything like it.
the spice wasn't the worst part for me, it was stomach pain and throwing up. felt like i was dying.
If I ate that, I’d become a bomb.
I tried this, lets just say the 15 minutes of heat and pain from the chip was nothing compared to the 5 hours after

My sister works as a store manager and she was 17 the other store managers and gym kept pressuring her to eat the chip (all on recording) and she immediately passed out (didn’t help she isn’t allowed to eat most foods due to some health issues that I’m not really sure what it’s medically called-) and had to be rushed to the er. Thankfully she was fine but yeah it was a crazy 19 birthday for me 😂 I brang her pie for it and she came home but dang that was awful.
I ate it. Water and milk didn't help.

We split one of these chips in middle school it was about 30x worse than u could imagine still a fun experience tho just not so fun while your doing it
😂😂😂 So the company made a challenege or saw that it became popular on TikTok, hense, where most popular with age group of 13-18?.... Last time i checked most high school students, middle school kids and grown ass adults that have extra time are only on tikTok. So the company should had try to do more than just say 18+ should only do the challenge. However, we were all kids at one point and saying 18+ of course going to make anyone below that age wanna do that. Sorry for the kid who lost his life but cant blame a company that literally had a age group to only try. What were the parents doing? Should be protecting or actually know what your child is doing.

I think fluid filling the lungs as they try to protect themselves from burning. That’s what I found when researching it a while ago.
A bunch of people had an allergic reaction to the chips where I live, might have been a very bad allergic reaction
capsaicin is what causes spicyness and it is a neurotoxin. high quantities could definitely kill

I see what people mean when it's the kids' fault, but the company, in my opinion, should be liable.
They encouraged people to not drink milk or water for as long as possible. Thats setting themselves up for a lawsuit.
It's a challenge not a law. If you value a challenge over your life.. It's your own fault.
