Sometimes, unfortunately, the only way to find TRUE and LASTING happiness, is to be willing to sacrifice your TEMPORARY happiness, for the sake of seeking the truth above all else. Many, sadly, are unwilling to do this.

Before somebody shared the gospel with me, I had about as much interest in Jesus as a 5 year old boy does about coming inside to take a bath. Fortunately for me, this friend kept at me for weeks until I gave my life to Christ. 33 years later i still strive to learn, and share the gospel. I now live in Japan and this question of “What happens to people who have not heard” is always on my mind. I have an AMAZING Japanese father-in-law. I don’t speak his language and he doesn’t speak mine. He doesn’t seem to have an interest in God, but he walks out a good life that would be on par with the best Christians I know. His generosity and refusing to speak ill of people is above reproach. To me, this video has an explanation, however I hope to hear a much better explanation. I am doing my best to learn Japanese at 56 years old, I pray I have time to talk with him before it is too late. God bless and Shalom to all.

    • @sidwhiting665
      @sidwhiting665 Před 2 lety

This comment will be considered ancient by online standards, but just in case you ever check back I'll offer a few thoughts.
      .
First, there are a lot of "amazing" people in the world who give no outward signs of knowing Jesus. But we do know the Bible says that belief in Jesus Christ as one's savior and trusting him for salvation is the one and only way to eternal life. "Being amazing" will get no one to heaven, because without Jesus Christ covering our sins, even the most amazing people are still unholy sinners.
      .
Now, you might think I'm attacking your FIL. Nope, not at all. He's probably everything you say he is. I'd probably enjoy meeting him. But he is also what the Bible says he is: lost, wretched, self-seeking (in ways you and I don't see outwardly), without hope, without life, and dead in his sins and trespasses.
      .
In the end, it's now about how amazing any of us it, but rather how holy God is, how great his love is, and how he did everything we need for salvation. Trust him: that's it, and that's the only "it" as well. Salvation is not Jesus + being an amazing person.
      .
It's a tough thing for us humans to swallow because we are not God and do not have his perspective. We see people who are kind or kinder than we are and think, "Surely this person wouldn't spend an eternity in Hell" because we're afraid that if the kinder person is in danger, then so are we. This is a clear lack of understanding of the Gospel, because we turn it into a game of moral comparison: me vs. someone else. Am I better than Joe? Is Joe better than me? If Joe is better than me, will I be saved? This totally missed the Gospel which says, "It is by GRACE you have been saved...not of works, lest no man should boast." It doesn't matter that Mother Teresa fed 10,000 more people than you or me. What matters is which of us trusted in Jesus Christ for the forgiveness of sins, life, and salvation? If we all did, then we are all saved. If any one of us does not, then as far as the Bible says, we are not saved regardless of how many "good deeds" we did.
      .
The Bible tells us clearly what God's view of sin is and how it separates all mankind from him, and that without Jesus as our Savior we are lost. Good works and kind personality do not cover the multitude of sins, the worst of which is violating the greatest Commandment: "Love the Lord Your God with all your heart, mind, soul and strength." All non-Christians violate this command every second of every day for their entire life.
      .
So continue to witness to your FIL. I'm assuming he's still alive and therefore there is yet time for your witness to bring him to faith. Does he desire to know the Way, the Truth, and the Life? It sounds like everything you have said indicates he does not. But we do not give up hope. Keep praying, keep witnessing. That is all we are called to do.

I am also on this quest to know what happens to the heathen. I have a very hard time accepting the idea that a very good person like your father in law,. Will one day die,. And find himself in hell. If God is a merciful god,. He would t do that. I think now,. That there is a hell,. There are people that will never ever ever want anything to do with God. And I now believe God knows everyones heart and true intentions,. Yes,. No one will be saved without Jesus in their heart. But he knows who will receive him and who will reject him even if they don't hear about Jesus or are apparently apathetic to him in this life. This is just my opinion. I don't know if I'm right.

My bestfriend is also seems to be a good person, but the truth is, everyone is a sinner, he is a good person, but he's not perfect either, no one is perfect enough to earn heaven but only by God's grace. for me it is make sense if the preacher say that those people wouldn't believe in the truth anyway, because I have shared the gospel to my bestfriend multiple times, he rejected it multiple times, but I have prayed for him that may God open his heart.
God is just, whatever is the actual answer or whatever happens, I believe God judge fairly, for He sees the heart, unlike us.

Every Christian for most of their lives lived for themselves not seeking God. But yet somehow they still 'found' Jesus. How did they find Jesus? They didn't. Jesus pursued them until they came to the knowledge of truth & then they got born again. This can take time. It took 32 years for me & it can take less time for some & more time for others but just remember that we are born with a sin nature & that sin nature does not want Jesus but when we are convicted by God & the light bulb goes on we realize how lost we are without God then we get born again. I don't agree with Frank that if someone isn't seeking God then they don't want Him & they will probably die in their sin. I believe they are following their sin nature & haven't had that conviction yet but when they do they will get born again. If you want your brother to be saved, God wants him to be saved even more & He will keep pursuing him until the day your brother dies. All you can do is keep displaying the love of Christ by living a similar life that Christ did. I heard someone say that the best gospel preached is the one lived. You should tell him about Jesus but more importantly, demonstrate the gospel by the life you life & through that, God can convict his heart which could cause him to repent & turn to Christ for salvation. Hope this helps.

But he who did not know, yet committed things deserving of stripes, shall be beaten with few. These scholars generally interpret the periscope as exhibiting a "Second Adam" Christology. According to this Christology, the earthly Jesus described in the hymn did not have equality with God. Christ made a choice - unlike the Adam of Genesis - not to grasp at equality with God, but to be obedient to God by accepting death.”

He has a purpose for everything He does and allows. Example the existence of evil. If everyone accepted God and none rejected Him would evil exist? There would be no need for free will. All would have already chose God. We cannot always know beyond the scriptures Gods ways. We must accept what God has presented in His Word and leave it at that. He knows what He is doing.

Because of His character. People always want to say "God is love" and yet they forget about all of His other aspects. He is also holy, mighty, righteous, merciful, and just. How do we know that He is any of these things? Anybody can say that they are merciful or mighty, but there is a huge difference between saying you are something and SHOWING that you are what you claim. God's salvation of some people shows that He can be merciful (For he says to Moses, "I will have mercy on whom I have mercy, and I will have compassion on whom I have compassion." Romans 9:15), sparing them from eternal punishment. He has shown that He is mighty through the creation around us, parting the red sea, being able to raise the dead, etc. But the one characteristic that most people don't want to acknowledge is that He is JUST. How do you determine whether a judge is just? If he let everyone off, then you would say that he isn't doing his responsibility of condemning criminals. However, if he condemned even the innocent, you would call him unjust. The only way to know if a judge is just is whether or not he punishes those who need to be punished and acquits those who are innocent. In the same way, God reveals His glory and character by punishing the wicked and redeeming the innocent. Some people were made for the explicit purpose of exhibiting the justice of God. But we have to keep in mind that nobody forced them to do wrong. Their nature was always to do wrong. We were all born that way.

I feel like you dodged the question on this one, Mr. Turek, as the question asked was not about those, who have yet to hear about the resurrection of Christ today, nor was it about the time, when that had yet to happen, but rather it was about the timeframe immediately after his resurrection.
Seeing as the resurrection was a very localized event, when seen on a global scale, most of the people, who died in the immediate time after his resurrection, would have likely not heard of or believed in it. Thus the question remains: What happened to them?
I would also like to point out, that I am a person on the search for the truth, though my mind has wrecked itself to the point of not knowing, what it knows along the way, and I stand on completely neutral grounds with Christianity, however, I have yet to find ANY evidence for God's existence. So if he is so loving and kind and wanting all to be saved from something he must have created himself (why did he make hell as the default destination for all human beings in the first place?), why is he not leaving more obvious signs of his existence than an ancient book, that could very well just be taken as just another work of fiction?

So as a result, Jesus is reaching out to these people in dreams and visions, something that he has likely done for all people throughout all time that were unreachable by evangelist.
Also, because he has placed an innate sense into the heart of every man that he is, and his law is written in our conscience, I have every reason to believe there is grace for those who were not reached by a Christian with the gospel message, that they would accept God as they perceive him, and abide in his ways to the best of their ability.

And you may just find that if you seek God you’ll find him at some point in your life, or maybe your friend you speak of will find God at some point in his life if he truly is seeking with all of his heart and mind.

This is probably my biggest pet peeve of many Christians I speak to about the bible: They seem to think I know that the god of the bible is real and that I'm simply just rejecting him so I can sin or some other equally important reason.
Why would I do that? Why would I KNOWINGLY reject the god that would punish me for eternity for doing so if I thought he was real?
It's probably the most ignorant statement one can make and it's incredibly offensive.
Oh, and it's also bearing false witness as it's a blatant lie about me.

      @jc1240 Před 5 lety

I respect your opinion, I assume your a person that doesn't believe in the God because you don't have any sort of factual evidence of his existence? Their are many atheists who think that way, their looking for evidence or some sort of physical proof. Then they are others, like he pointed out in the video, that don't care for truth and are just looking for whatever makes them happy. You'd be surprised at how many people in today's world that are atheist simply because they have a moral issue with the bible and God. People who never really try to understand the Bible and reasons why God allows certain afflictions and hardships in our lives. In fact, Turek has often asked many atheist in his videos a very revealing question, "if the bible were true, would you be a Christian?" For the most part he only asks this question to those who obviously express their disdain for the Christian God and certain controversial subjects like homosexuality, slavery, genocide etc. Most people he asked this question say "no". This reveals it's not a issue of knowledge or truth but an issue of the heart. We learn in the bible that God allows pain in our lives to test our faith and build our character as Christian's but people don't want to hear that. We live in an extremely hedonistic society where we are taught to only go after things that are mentally and physically pleasurable, and any sort of pain and hardship is looked down upon for the most part. But just because something feels good doesn't mean it's good for you, I'm not a drug addict but I hear heroin feels amazing but we all know it destroy your body and mind. My main point is while you may be looking for physical proof and logic, their are alot of people that aren't and are really just following anything that gives them pleasure and the easiest path of life which is why many reject christianity, a long with some other reasons of course.

But what we really need to be concerned about is our own Judgement. God will have a judgement for those within and outside the Church:

The answer to this question is in Romans 2 from verse 9 on. The division in this verses is between people that heard the law or gospel and those that did not, because they could not.
    - Coming from eternal life in Romans 2, verse 6: 6 Who will render to every man according to his deeds: 7 To them who by patient continuance in well doing seek for glory and honour and immortality, eternal life.
    - Going to the way of judgement verse 12: 12 For as many as have sinned without law shall also perish without law: and as many as have sinned in the law shall be judged by the law.
    - This says that people without having the law or gospel are judged by their deeds in the presence of their conscience.
    - Then follows the reasoning behind this flow:
Verse 13 For not the hearers of the law (or the gospel) are just before God, but the doers of the law shall be justified.Verse 14 For when the Gentiles, which have not the law (not those that do not like to get and read it when they can), do by nature the things contained in the law, these, having not the law, are a law unto themselves:
Verse 15 Which shew the work of the law written in their hearts (conscience), their conscience also bearing witness, and their thoughts the mean while accusing or else excusing one another.- The followers of the conscience actually do what the law said, because it is written in their heart. This means that someone completely blocked from getting the jewish law in the past before Christ and now to get the gospel, is judged by his conscience. Why because even Christians have to obey the word AND their conscience to get saved. If someone follows his conscience, it shows, that he would have followed Jesus Christus if he would have heard from him.
Then, when is this outlined rule applied?
Verse 16 In the day when God shall judge the secrets of men by Jesus Christ according to my gospel.
This rule, to be saved by following the law that is written on men's heart, that is exclusively for completely excluded people makes sure that everyone that wants to get saved, and acts in agreement with Gods Law, the 10 Commandments, can be saved.
For a vivid example you can read the old book: German: Dayuma, english: The Dayuma Story, from Ethel E. Wallis. Or the old book Bruchco from Bruce Olson.
If you compare the characters of those completely isolated Indians, that never had a jewish law or gospel story before, you will find out, that some had followed their conscience, while others had not. Those that followed their conscience before they heard the gospel all responded positive when they heard it. But also some of the real cruel ones turned and got saved too, when they heard the gospel. So we can conclude, that people that follow their conscience get saved when they hear the gospel. So they, and only they, are saved without knowing Christ, because they followed what he had planted in their conscience, and did deeds acceptable before God, which answers to Romans verse 6 and 12.
