But I can still use 7. Only issue is app compatability. MS doesn't shut off any system stuff, they just nag you I guess. So you can use what you bought in my eyes. And they do offer upgrades, even though they're picky about specs. But think of it this way: they don't want to repeat Vista upgrades going south. Maybe that's far-fetched though. I've heard of brand-new PCs not working.

För me, Windows 11 was a much needed GUI redesign, both for touchscreen/Mouse use. The buttons in Windows 10 Apps (Settings menu for example) were just taking up too much screen estate. It's a healthier middle ground now, but I wonder what the next big two windows versions will look like once it evolves further. We'll still not have our isolated, immutable Windows we'd all love for our elderly computer users for tech support.

Same, I'm still on Windows 7 for my work laptop - one might think that it's not the best for security but I've taken every precaution, and I know what I am doing/clicking on (in terms of websites) etc
@@MSX98FMDnB I wouldn't customise windows 10 to look like windows 7 .. especially if your on a low-end laptop PC where the hardware isn't great .. all the programs running at startup and in the background will take up system resources such as your RAM, plus the storage on your computer would be taken up by the customisation programs etc

To everyone on windows 10. I was only windows 10 and wanted nothing to do with 11 for a very long time, when I built my PC last year I decided to try 11. I didn’t like it. But when I removed all the bloat, removed all the tiles and extra apps, left aligned the start menu, turned dark mode on, made chrome my default browser, and used third party to make the task bar transparent. It felt like home again and now I can’t go back to windows 10 without it feeling like it’s a windows 8.1.
Good riddance. Use windows if you have to and linux if you can, that's been my rule for the last 14 years. And it's been getting easier and easier to use it with every year too. Can't imagine a handheld running linux a decade ago, things were too clunky back then
The Windows 8 pop-ups are out of order. The first pop up is for Windows 8.1, which ended support in 2023. The other is for the original, base Windows 8, whose support ended in 2016.

Windows 7 was perfect for me, but I only switched to 10 because the programs doesn't support 7 anymore... And now they want to end Windows 10, the low end devices will have no choice else than using old software programs or just switching to Linux which unfortunately doesn't have the same perfect support as windows for Nvidia drivers and some cool programs

@@gordzen123 It's getting there!! With Valve having a full team working on Compatibility changes, and they might be sharing there info with the developers of WINE. Not to mention that ReactOS has made steady progress over the years sharing what they learned with those developers as well!! Not to mention there are some free alternatives in the mean time that work fine in comparison to Adobe, Hitfilm, and GameMaker. It's not bad to reach out and vary your skill set either (since not everyone uses the same program) and I'm happy for the fact that my older games work on Linux (and better in some cases) compared to Windows which still has a sub-par compatibility system...
The reason 7 had so many was because so many people were using it, about 20% OS marketshare was still Windows 7 in 2020, Windows vista on the other hand didn’t have any because noone used it except from tech nerds who would of knew it was coming to EOS soon

I was very happy with Windows Vista. It worked perfectly for me and I loved the new features compared to Windows 7. After Vista, I switched to Gentoo Linux. Now, 15 years later, I still use Gentoo, running modern software on the same computer that was shipped with Vista ❤
I'm still running Windows 7 Ultimate on my Alienware M14x R2 laptop. Not because I want to, but because the Windows Update service for Windows 10 doesn't even work, saying that "something bad has happened" after an hour or so of updating then restoring everything like it was.

The windows 10 one isn't a notice, it's recommendation. Yeah they said that it will end support on 2025 says in the paragraph but the whole thing isn't actually an eol notice. They just recommending Windows 11 for you
7, 8-8.1 and early-mid 10 (the alpha builds, the beta builds, 1507-1809?) are the best in my opinion. Late 10 (20H2-22H2, 21H2 in my case) didn’t run well on my netbook but 8, 8.1 and 10 1809 did, also there is less telemetry. Early 10 was beautiful and not this mess that is 10-11. Like, the beautiful Metro aesthetic, colorfulness, etc. The Settings app wasn’t forced, you could use Control Panel too. In late 10, they made it so that some Control Panel pages redirect to Settings. I wish 11 was just early-mid 10 with new features. Windows 11 is both UWP and WinUI, some parts of the system are still Metro-styled, Explorer only had the top half changed and the bottom half is still Explorer from Windows 7, the taskbar is a bit ugly and had some features removed, etc. It’s a mess.

I only upgraded to 10 cause certain apps (Dolphin, browsers, Logos software, etc) stopped getting support. I still think it wasn't worth the upgrade, but I didn't want to try another app just to have that not work as well...
The issue is, I feel the long life of old windows allowed you to jump to a better system, like XP to 7 and 7 to 10, but now, just right in 2025 and we have to move to win 11? And the worst part is, Microsoft has the audacity to tell you cannot upgrade anyways, like WTH man!

Same, I'm still on Windows 7 for my work laptop - one might think that it's not the best for security but I've taken every precaution, and I know what I am doing/clicking on (in terms of websites) etc
@@MSX98FMDnB I wouldn't customise windows 10 to look like windows 7 .. especially if your on a low-end laptop PC where the hardware isn't great .. all the programs running at startup and in the background will take up system resources such as your RAM, plus the storage on your computer would be taken up by the customisation programs etc
Notice that they also removed the "Do not remind me again" button for the EOL notice in Windows 10. I don't want to be reminded by this again, why can't I have the option?

To everyone on windows 10. I was only windows 10 and wanted nothing to do with 11 for a very long time, when I built my PC last year I decided to try 11. I didn’t like it. But when I removed all the bloat, removed all the tiles and extra apps, left aligned the start menu, turned dark mode on, made chrome my default browser, and used third party to make the task bar transparent. It felt like home again and now I can’t go back to windows 10 without it feeling like it’s a windows 8.1.
Plan to use Windows 10 until October 2025 and then switch to Linux, already using it on a spare PC as preparation and Steam Deck.
I'm right now collecting enough rage to start building my own Adobe Lightroom for Linux.
Good riddance. Use windows if you have to and linux if you can, that's been my rule for the last 14 years. And it's been getting easier and easier to use it with every year too. Can't imagine a handheld running linux a decade ago, things were too clunky back then

The Windows 8 pop-ups are out of order. The first pop up is for Windows 8.1, which ended support in 2023. The other is for the original, base Windows 8, whose support ended in 2016.

Windows 7 was perfect for me, but I only switched to 10 because the programs doesn't support 7 anymore...
And now they want to end Windows 10, the low end devices will have no choice else than using old software programs or just switching to Linux which unfortunately doesn't have the same perfect support as windows for Nvidia drivers and some cool programs

@@samgoose1234 But only for small and portable programs, wine is only a compatibility layer, and I had very big issues running stuff like GameMaker 2, or Hitfilm express, or even Premiere pro, it doesn't have the full support and GPU accel as Windows does, I hope that changes some day

@@gordzen123 It's getting there!! With Valve having a full team working on Compatibility changes, and they might be sharing there info with the developers of WINE. Not to mention that ReactOS has made steady progress over the years sharing what they learned with those developers as well!! Not to mention there are some free alternatives in the mean time that work fine in comparison to Adobe, Hitfilm, and GameMaker. It's not bad to reach out and vary your skill set either (since not everyone uses the same program) and I'm happy for the fact that my older games work on Linux (and better in some cases) compared to Windows which still has a sub-par compatibility system...

The reason 7 had so many was because so many people were using it, about 20% OS marketshare was still Windows 7 in 2020, Windows vista on the other hand didn’t have any because noone used it except from tech nerds who would of knew it was coming to EOS soon
One of the reasons I decided to switch to linux was because I wasn't willing to keep up with windows 11 bullshit after windows 10 support would end

I've been using a modified build of Windows 10 called Atlas and I couldn't be happier. No unwanted Microsoft bloat telling me to finish setting up my Microsoft account integration or replacing the OS itself.

I daily drive windows 7 on my laptop, it runs like a charm and in all honesty Ive been using it more than my windows 10 desktop pc.
I was very happy with Windows Vista. It worked perfectly for me and I loved the new features compared to Windows 7. After Vista, I switched to Gentoo Linux. Now, 15 years later, I still use Gentoo, running modern software on the same computer that was shipped with Vista ❤

I'm still running Windows 7 Ultimate on my Alienware M14x R2 laptop. Not because I want to, but because the Windows Update service for Windows 10 doesn't even work, saying that "something bad has happened" after an hour or so of updating then restoring everything like it was.

The windows 10 one isn't a notice, it's recommendation. Yeah they said that it will end support on 2025 says in the paragraph but the whole thing isn't actually an eol notice. They just recommending Windows 11 for you
7, 8-8.1 and early-mid 10 (the alpha builds, the beta builds, 1507-1809?) are the best in my opinion. Late 10 (20H2-22H2, 21H2 in my case) didn’t run well on my netbook but 8, 8.1 and 10 1809 did, also there is less telemetry. Early 10 was beautiful and not this mess that is 10-11. Like, the beautiful Metro aesthetic, colorfulness, etc. The Settings app wasn’t forced, you could use Control Panel too. In late 10, they made it so that some Control Panel pages redirect to Settings. I wish 11 was just early-mid 10 with new features.
Windows 11 is both UWP and WinUI, some parts of the system are still Metro-styled, Explorer only had the top half changed and the bottom half is still Explorer from Windows 7, the taskbar is a bit ugly and had some features removed, etc. It’s a mess.

0:40 - Okay I've gotten similar pop ups to this but they happened so often that they weren't really end of support pop ups. Heck they couldn't even be classified as such since they come up every time i log in to my pc. And every time I decline them add i just wasn't into upgrading to Windows 11. And I'm still not to this day.

I only upgraded to 10 cause certain apps (Dolphin, browsers, Logos software, etc) stopped getting support. I still think it wasn't worth the upgrade, but I didn't want to try another app just to have that not work as well...

The issue is, I feel the long life of old windows allowed you to jump to a better system, like XP to 7 and 7 to 10, but now, just right in 2025 and we have to move to win 11? And the worst part is, Microsoft has the audacity to tell you cannot upgrade anyways, like WTH man!
