I'm a former Democrat, not a big Trump guy. You need to to also reflect on what the Democrats have also done. The elevation of identity and grievance has damaged the party. I would love to be a part of the party that looks out for working class people and aims to preserve the ecosystem as best as possible. I would love to he a part of the party that doesn't allow the financial services Industry to whiz all over opportunities for homeownership. I would love to be a part of the party that protects personal conscience in free speech and association.
Unfortunately my party abandoned me. I do not know why or how Barack Obama changed course at the end of his first term. The party has abandoned being the open tent. It has sold itself out in a way the Bush years would be proud of. It has become the party of big business, racial categorization, cheap labor, anti-enlightenment sentiment and the managerial class. It is the party of fringe sexual minority identity(men) dictating the rules of reality.
I think Biden will win as he did last time but reality is like a 2x4, swung hard and fast. America will collapse under the weight of the demands of the elite and angry young men from the far left and right will devour its carcass and it will be our own fault for allowing government to pick winners and losers.

Not saying our politics is fine and dandy, but at least our politicians aren't decades beyond the retirement age and are able to speak/reason.
Why doesnt the US vote for a 3rd person?

    • @thephotoandthestory

@@daarom3472 I'm Gen X. Our generation is pretty much about to get leapfrogged from boomer to late millenial to Gen Z. I think there is a generational perspective that is different. In the U.S. Xers and early millenials tend to be more inclined to compromise and moderation. Boomers are less inclined to a degree because so many if them are past the point of retirement and as such are not comfortable with things that endanger their financial security, which is understandable, but creates problems. That is part of the reason the main candidates are who we have.
Biden is corrupt, braggadicious and has dementia. Trump is boisterous, impulsive and incurious.
My feeling is that Gen X and early millenials should be taking the reins. Some if us are in our middle age and remember when classically liberal values were imparted. I think the boomer generation is afraid that they will be cut out of the picture.
I have noticed with Europe young leaders. Sunak, Macron, Meloni, Zelensky, Varadker and others are Xers. I think the former Finnish P.M. was younger.
I may be over emphasizing this but, if yiu look at the pre war years in France there was a gerontacracy that clawed on to power while the country became radicalized , weakened and eventually occupied.
People will only believe in our Republic if they see it offering something. I fear we have left late millenials and Gen Z very little heritage and sadly the idea that compromise means losing. We are possibly a generation away from jettisoning free speech, the right to keep and bear arms and due process. There are so many factors tugging and pulling and we could be headed for a collapse if the reins are not handed to a spirit of compromise and it will be our own fault.
Sorry for the tangent. Hope it sheds some light.

As an someone who has been an educator for 42 years and still teaching, I have noticed that no one is willing to listen anymore. All they want to do is to win the argument and not to listen and learn. The moment, I try to explain an argument to someone who disagrees with me, I'm not given the opportunity to explain the error of the argument. I teach my students that all arguments have to be based on facts and evidence, but a lot of people don't want to listen and cover their ears and the next thing that comes out is another baseless argument in order to tilt their argument their way. I have come to understand now, that individuals once they reach a certain age they become set in their ways and there is nothing one can say or do to help change the individual's belief. Education, professionalism is ignored because of "what about-isms". This is not the way for a society to function. But I could tell you who the real culprits are, the real culprits are the owners of the mass media which has been corrupted by them and the investors. All that matters is their quarterly earnings. By corrupting the media, the followers and listeners get a litany of conspiracy theories, innuendos and gossip. Today, anyone, who can hold a camera or creates a podcast, can become a provider of illusions and falsehoods. A normal solar eclipse, an earthquake becomes a sign of the ends of days and so on. People begin to lose hope and the society begins to break apart, while the controllers continue making their goals accompli.First, the controllers of the news media begin by attacking the foundations of our institutions which have been the landmarks of our democratic system and society. After a while, a society which has been fed a daily array of disinformation by the media, begins to distrust any form of media that goes contrary to what they had been fed. This is the danger: a society which begins to believe in alternate facts and news, a society that begins to distrusts their own institutions. A society, where everyone's unsupported facts have the same value as the facts of someone whose facts are based on evidence. This is th edanger od " what about-ims," and this is a perilous road to take and travel.

I was a young Republican. I watched Agnew leave the Vice Presidency as a result of being caught in criminal bribery from a previous job as the Governor of Maryland. Nixon covered up Republican corruption during his re-election. He was pardoned by Ford who was appointed by Nixon after Agnew left in shame. Ford was selected because of his loyalty to the system when he was a member of the Warren Commission. I then watched Regan dismantle the mental health system and public health system in California when he was the Governor there. He then took that same effort nationally when he became President. I watched the Bush family take us to war under two administrations. I watched George W. Bush lose the popular vote and win by delegate count. I watched that again twice with the election of Donald Trump. I watched Rick Scott sanctioned for the largest Medicare Fraud in history. He then runs for elected office and wins as the Governor in Florida. He then runs for the U.S. Senate seat in Florida where he aims to dismantle Medicare and Social Security. I woke up after seeing what Regan did in California. I was a young Republican sleep walker up to that point. All I can say is that everyone needs to WAKE-UP and see just what these Republicans have stood for and judge them on their actions. Trump did more damage in 4 years than the previous 40 with the help of the Federalist Society and their selection for the Supreme Court appointees along with the tax reduction act for his wealthy donors. The GOP stands only for corruption, grift and taking away your rights and freedoms. Simply look at their results. One Constitutional crisis after another, Women's rights have been crushed and grifters united in order to hold onto power. The job for these people is to make life better for the Country as a whole not to enrich themselves with money, power and to impose their donor's religious values onto the rest of us. @@ronjunior Hi Ron,
Not gay here either but we are all more alike than not. It is just that when I was young, I thought that I had it all figured out. It wasn't until I found myself reflecting on other's perspectives and I started to listen and observe more than being opinionated. For me, it is so important to seek the truth and acknowledge it...even if it goes against what you are maybe supportive of. If you don't do that, you are stuck with what you believe in and not the truth of the matter. That is not to say what you believe in is not necessarily the truth of the matter. We should be evidence based on what is going on around us and how we move forward as a people. Many of those people who I voted for and believed in became a shattered image for me. It was not easy to see that but those experiences we all learned from. I can't say that this is the case today with many people. The tide seems to be changing a bit right now but we all need to help change the narrative and bias. Thanks so much for your comment...we should be be a bit more optimistic...it's really up to all of us to get things changed. Take care, Ron...John

No one talks about the wealth inequality that is making people feel left behind and ignored. The rich keep getting richer, and the Republicans keep giving them tax breaks and the government gives them loans that they never have to repay. Meanwhile wages stagnated in the early 80's for working people and the rich just keep getting more. CEO's used to make 12X the salary of their average employee and now they make 300X the average. I think the frustration comes from the promise of America has failed us, those of us that have worked hard haven't seen success. The middle class has been crushed, we cannot afford health insurance, a home or those vacations that we took as families while growing up. As I've heard, the rich keep getting richer and the poor keep having kids. Well, I cannot even afford kids.

Not speaking on you you specifically since I don’t know you personally. But a lot of Americans aren’t responsible with their finances. Too many of us want to “keep up with the Jones” while blowing money during the holiday season, spending disposable income on alcohol and drugs, eating poorly which causes health problems, and having a fundamental misunderstanding of checks and balances in the United States. A lot of 45’s supporters are poor and their lives haven’t changed for better or worse from George w to Obama to trump to Biden. They just like his rhetoric that makes them feel proud to be white in America. Until we do something about the lobbyists and special interests groups influencing politicians nothing will ever get better for the poor and middle class

It took a long time to get here. Americans are unhappy, unfulfilled, and grasping at anything and anyone who will make them feel better. They were lied to. They were betrayed. And the worst part about all of it was that it was our own that did these things to us. However at some point we ALL have to take responsibility for our lives and do better. Stop falling for okey-dokey. Understand that if a politician ain’t doing anything for you why is that politician in office? Don’t let a politician blame his way into office. We know what the problems are. Vote for a candidate with positive and effective solutions. I don’t know everything, but I do know that if we don’t start thinking logically we are ALL doomed.

  • @GoUtes92
    @GoUtes92 Před měsícem +26

I'm going to put this frankly. There is a danger of democracy failing and I'll tell you why; It's not because of a lack of patriotism and it's not because of questionable election procedures or fraud, it's because of the obsession with winning, and to a lesser extent a certain disrespect of the facts. This is especially true with the MAGA politicians. You can question any aspect of the election you want, but you have to at least respect the findings of the state officials. There is no strength in democracy when the public is arguing about who won after every election. And the "What about the time the other guys said it" excuse doesn't help.

Dems have contested elections many times, and many officials called Trump an "illegitimate" president. So, stop with MAGA mostly BS. Most politicians do this it isn't anything new. Overall, division I would say media's deception. We have one screen, but two movies playing it seems. Leftist say "fine people both sides"=nazi , and MAGA says " you didn't listen to the full clip" as an example. Many people still believe the "fine people" lie and "Russiagate" to this day. If you are told over and over again orange man bad, then somebody asked you why? many people I have seen and talked to just say vague things like he is bad, racist, corrupt, evil, etc but don't have true examples of this ever. If people just get the facts let them make up their own mind.
