Great shipping video! 🤣🤣🤣...i was at a thrift store about a year ago and a manager came up to me and asked if i was a Reseller, i replied Yes, he then says "i dont like resellers"...i then told him "thats comforting to know" then asked him why in the hell are you working here, this store resells items right? Flat rate shipping that factors in cost of packing materials and handling. Its not "free" to ship anything and anyone who thinks that is a fool.
i agree i have bin in shipping/rec/warehouse work most of my life....there is no such thing as FREE SHIPPING ...its just put in the price of the item
@@mikeerickson8183 well the seller estimates the shipping cost and adds it to the price, but it is free shipping--they arnt actually charging you for shipping costs. I always figured such and such an item should cost a certain amount to ship so I accounted for it in my prices. I was generally still priced about the same amount of many sellers who also added a blank shipping fee. Ive bought many items myself and some dealers are making a lot on shipping. One time I was going to buy a silver dollar but the seller was charging like $7 for shipping--the silver dollar weighted an ounce!

All my 500 of my items are calculated shipping because everytime I post free shipping every one on the west coast starts buying my free shipping items. I’m from South Carolina

I know right!!😂 I’m from South Carolina and sell used car parts have 3,000 listings and all of them have a flat rate shipping, but I can swear almost every time a large or heavy item sells it HAS to be a California or west coast buyer😅
I’m in Indiana and I don’t offer free shipping. But it still seems to be where most of my sell’s come from. Mainly California.
There are so many costs to sellers..tape, bubble wrap, labels, paper, boxes, TIME involved, eBay fees, even fees on shipping costs!! Buyers think we just make a lot of money! After all is said and done, a $25.00 item only nets you $10.00 if you're lucky.
Recycle boxes, air pillows and bubble wrap, free tape from Ebay Shipping Supplies (store subscription discount), sale papers from the grocery store for packing, I grab a stack every time when I am on the way out the door. Priority boxes and bubble envelopes delivered right to your door for free.

I do calculated shipping. If someone does not want to buy my item because of that so be it. Buy it elsewhere if you can get the same item for the same price with free shipping. btw, most of my sale items (mostly vintage items) are NOT something you can get with free shipping on Amazon.
I also do calculated shipping. If that doesn't fit a buyer's parameters, they can always buy from someone else.
I don't know how some private sellers can sell something for $5 with free shipping anyway. If I were selling that same item, the shipping would be $5 alone.
I understand they get better rates, but come on.
I really hate the new shipping system on ebay. It was nice to get a seller shipping discount to help offset ebay selling fees. Now we are pretty much forced to pass the discount onto the buyer or our shipping prices will look too high

Kevin, I always do a flat rate. After I put in the weight and dimensions, I look at the calculated shipping range and go a wee bit higher than the middle and usually end up a bit over the actual cost. Anything that has taken a lot of time to clean or needs extra packaging I add that into the flat rate. My reviews are at 4.9 on shipping and 5.0 on everything else, so I'll gladly take that! I work hard to offer very fair prices, reasonable shipping, and excellent customer service and communication. I always include a hand written note on the packing slip because people want to connect with a real person, and I want to personally thank them for shopping at my eBay store! Maybe that's the only kind thing they've heard all day! I represent myself, my family, and Jesus Christ.... that's why I choose to be fair and honest in all my transactions. Have a blessed day! 😊
I used to have a huge eBay store with almost 3000 items. To make the move from NC to FL, I donated pretty much everything to local thrift stores. Anyway, I only ever did calculated shipping. I don't believe in free shipping. With free, if they send the item back you are taking a pretty big loss.
You are 100 percent correct on the shipping. I don't do free shipping for the most part. Every once in a while I have a really small item I can offer free shipping on. What buyers need to realize is the cost of materials ( labels tape etc) are a factor in our business. I don't gouge but I also don't do it for free.
The shipping is figured into everything we buy daily, I hope whoever wrote that comment reads this one, from gas to food, any everyday essential has a freight or shipping to it, so they pay shipping on everything they buy. It really blows my mind on how some people think sometimes. Thanks for the videos Kevin.
No free shipping, no returns unless I’m wrong in the listing. If I’m wrong I pay the return shipping as well. Calculated shipping cost only, no handling charges.

Calculated shipping. Only do free if it ships in a first class envelope (tiny flat items). But my calculated shipping is always as close to exact as possible. Every item is weighed and measured prior to listing.

How do you get tracking for your first class items? The last time I tried to ship first class on eBay it wouldn’t let me, even though that’s what I put in my listing. I have lots of items that could go first class, but can’t figure it out. Any guidance is appreciated. TIA
@michelecirrincione6848 ebay has a first class letter option. Prints a label just like my other packages and it had tracking on it. Shows item is delievered.

I had someone recently cancel an order because “they didn’t know” they paid shipping. Unless they did a speed run buying the item, I’m positive it shows you at checkout that you have to pay shipping.
I just block people that cancel orders. Don’t need them to waste my time.
When I first started on Ebay as a buyer (I'm not a seller) we weren't able to cancel. It was understood that it was a done deal when you committed. If you didn't follow through and pay you got in trouble from Ebay. A couple of times like that and you were unebayed. :)

I do calculated shipping. I live on the East Coast and don't want to pay for shipping West Coast orders. Besides when I shop, I sort by cheapest including shipping. I figure out what works best for me. IMO all buyers should do that.
Years ago several infants got caught up in the bumper pads for cribs and died. Moms today refuse to use them. Today they don’t even put blankets in cribs. I stal away from anything that has to do with infants. Lawsuit pops into my head when my eye catches it. Better to be safe.
Perhaps what he is seeing listed is the netting they now put around instead of a bumper pad. My daughter orders the netting thing. I'm sure it will be outlawed one day too.
@@peddlinpatricks I feel soon they will require a hurricane safe type glass for the sides where nobody can afford said cribs and screwing babies, so the parents just give them a room where on floor is one big mattress size of room made of EPA and NSF approved covered foam material as this is cheaper.

I do "free shipping" but shipping is incorporated into the price when I list items. So yes you are right, there is no thing such as truly free shipping.
I do free shipping on the majority of my items but I deal in small and easy to ship items but the shipping if figured in on the sale price. Nothing is free and between shipping and ebay fees we all need to make a profit and make the buyer feel as though they have gotten a deal.
I always told my students that nothing in life is free. Someone has paid for it somewhere or somehow. Hopefully, it will help them appreciate and give thanks for the gifts that have been given to them.

LOL that person who wants free shipping is welcome to drive across the country and come pick their items up! Or better yet, they can go on the blocked buyer list and go pound sand. As someone who DOES do free shipping, I would never expect anyone else to. YES it is built into the price, and that is true wherever you shop even Amazon. Anyone who thinks shipping is never built into the price when advertised as "free" is delusional and has been failed by our public education system.
We used to do free shipping on a lot of things. I don’t recall why, but we stopped, and started switching things over to calculated. At the time, our sales started to increase lol. Most of our items now have calculated shipping. It’s funny how much we’re always learning as we go, and always learning to go with the flow and changes in the market.
As for people who complain about shipping prices, I understand how much it sucks to have to pay for shipping, but buyers need to understand, resellers are not Walmart or Amazon. We simply can’t afford to ship everything free. Nor can we compete with big box prices for some stuff. We have to calculate at least some of the shipping costs in if we offer free shipping.
Another problem is buyers asking for steep discounts. Again, try that with a big box store. We are careful to price our items based on average sold comps. On that note, most people who ask questions like that never actually follow through and buy anything anyway even if we agree.

The manufacturer of padded crib bumpers has been banned in the US. Mesh bumpers are still allowed. They can pose a risk for SIDS, suffocation and entrapment to infants.
I ship as cheap as I can for buyers one because I dislike high shipping cost myself. I believe we all do. With that said, most shipping supplies can be found for free and if you are buying supplies those are all tax deductible. In the end as a seller I just bake cost into the price and or understand what I want to make out of an item.
I changed most all of my listings to flat rate, I come in pretty close on the actual cost. The only time I offer free shipping, if it is a small item and I have lots of margin in it. I do offer free local pickup on all of my items.
I’ve done eBay for 9 years and I’ll go back and forth on shipping. I used to mainly do free shipping but now most of my listings are calculated shipping.

I was excited I recently found a Winnie the Pooh Vintage Crib Bumper Brand New. I went to list it and I got a RED message from ebay saying that Crib Bumper Sets were not allowed. That was a quick delete. I would never ever want a child to get hurt. I had no idea before trying to list it. I always learn something from you. Thanks for all you do!~
I don’t understand why people say they will only buy from people with free shipping? It may say free shipping, but it isn’t really free. I do not sell anything with free shipping and I do not have free returns, if an item is described wrong on my part, I have no problem taking the item back and I’ll eat the shipping & return shipping. Free shipping, but raise the price of the item to cover it. It’s a psychological game.
I offer free shipping on lower priced and lightweight items. I charge a flat shipping rate for the rest. One issue I have with free shipping is when it comes to returns. If someone just changes their mind and wants to send the item back, I don't want to have to pay for the shipping...twice.

"Charity" sellers who get free labor, free inventory, a special rate from the USPS we can't get, and a ridiculously low eBay fee rate because they are a "charity".

I bought something from a dumpster diver. It was a new set of bath stuff. Lotion and soap etc. Also included a new sealed pack of coffee. I got the invoice and should have canceled because I paid more for the shipping and he then told me that if I would have included more stuff (from his auction) I would have qualified for a cheaper box since he used the post office special boxes. I got gun shy and haven't bought anything since. I understand the shipping prices but the thing is...back then it could've been nice to have been warned 😊

eBay prices are simple. "Free shipping" means shipping is already included in price. Simply add other items' shipping costs to the item price. Not rocket science. Some sites state all prices include shipping.

I do free shipping on all my items because I reuse about 90% of the packaging materials that I get for free from a source. Most of the packaging materials aren’t new and pretty but still works for shipping. Of course I add the shipping cost to the item price though. Been doing “free shipping” for 10 years now and it’s worked for me.
If I didn't have free returns, or returns at all I would probably do Free Shipping with Same Day Ship but with Ebay Policy & what Amazon is doing it forces me to charge shipping 99% of the time. Also a lot of items on Amazon have the shipping charge included in the sale price if you are getting "Free" shipping as a Prime member. The items are clearly higher priced sometimes to offset Amazon's delivery, convenience and speed.

I just posted some Masters of Universe figures including spikor, when I went to put him in storage I noticed his legs were broken! So I pulled the Post down before it sold, I was going to repost as parts. What holds those legs on for those characters from the 80s is this black band made of stretchy material. And they are real fragile. This just happened me
just china is free shipping ali express, temu etc at least to Canada. I do free shipping with single trading cards and some single video games / comics that I ship domestically and add the shipping cost to the end price, some cents do not get accounted for like 20-30 cents.
I have over 2000 listing and most have calculated shipping. I do offer free shipping on the few commodity type items (socks, photo paper, etc.) most of my listings are items that are collectible and rare. My sales have been pretty good this year. No complaints.
MOTU leg bands are notorious for rotting over time and snapping. One of the things i do really well with is picking them up broken and repairing them. Ive found i enjoy repairing vintage toys and selling them at a good price....and shipping is DEFINITELY always figured in on my stuff.

I charge calculated shipping but do 30 day free returns to lower the possibility of scammers b/c scammers dont want to pay a penny, this way they must have some "skin in the game" if they want an item.

In a Facebook group where sellers help other sellers, I have seen more than once someone post about how they are losing money by offering free shipping. They complaint they aren't making any money at all because the shipping cost cuts into their profit. And I have seen listings like that on eBay where it's clear the seller hasn't included the cost of shipping. So some sellers learn the hard way that "free shipping" ain't *free.*
The cost of materials and time to get the item ready plus the cost of the post office labor and the gas to the post office, standing in line. All sellers cannot stay in business not charging for what they pay to get the item to you such packing materials and their time. I hate paying postage but i remind myself is that i would charge shipping and postage if i was the seller. 😊😊😊😊
Calculated shipping for me. I've been burned a few times and lost my profits. Sold a remote control at free shipping and made .15 cents. my bad for sure but after that I just do calculated shipping. It factors in everything for me and changes based on there location.
I sell a few things every now and then. If I sell with free shipping I don't include it into the price. Normally it is going in an envelope with a stamp or two.
Calculated. Live in CA so shipping higher to most locales so no free shipping In process of listing small dollar amount, 4 separate items, lightweight. Actually checked at post office and it may or may not go over so free shipping definitely out of the question.

Amazon has a 25 dollar minimum on purchase to get items with free prime shipping. I have prime but I’m not sure if you need to also have prime membership to get the free shipping . Also most of those items are at a local Amazon wear house

I am located in Minnesota so it makes it easier for me to do free shipping listings. Obviously when I list I calculate the average shipping cost into my listing price. However, I do not do free returns unless it was my mistake. if I'm gonna eat some shipping cost, so are they.
I always do calculated shipping and keep the weight correct and check all the shipping options to make it as low as possible. I hope my buyers appreciate that.

I do mostly free shipping, but of course, I add in the shipping to my price. My exception is if it is a large item, then I will do calculated shipping.
Amazon Prime isn't free, I pay around $20 a month whether I buy anything from Amazon or not. I am new to reselling, and I have thought about this very issue a lot. I am certain that anyone wanting free everything is more likely to return said item, most likely at the sellers expense. So to me, it isn't really feasible to offer free shipping and stay in business, and by offering free returns is motivation for the buyer to carefully consider whether to return it or not. And my final thought is, if someone wants to threaten the buyer with a boycott, go ahead, I probably wouldn't want that type of customer anyway.
Calulated shipping only. if its a big item or expensive item I charge handling that cover the signature required
rarely free shipping, no returns, most often calculated shipping because I usually mess up figuring a good flat rate ship if its not using a flat rate usps box.
