Geon Bell Hey they will always be there haha. Im not a Disney hater but I do prefer the EU and I take solace in the fact that there are over 100 EU novels and countless comics. I currently only have about 45 of the novels and like 5 comic series' so Im still reading the EU haha.
SSTWELVE yeah I don't regret the time spent honestly. And unlike a couple of my friends I can see why Disney would prefer to start fresh. Allows a lot more creative freedom to make the franchise their own.

You're damn wrong. Start fresh by making a remake of A New Hope and a Empire Strikes Back mix with Empire Strikes Back one. They only care for money and will feed off your nostalgic. They don't respect entertainment. They could have jumped 200 to 500 years into the future make a new story. BUT NOPE.
I feel you, man. To my immediate left are two bookshelves, its upper six rows filled with more than 130 EU-Books, collected over about 20 Years. It sure was a fun ride while it lasted, wasnt it? But I don't regret taking this journey.
Damn, I can't help but feeling wistful. If only Disney would release a new Novel under the 'Legends'-Label once in a while... that this brandnew Jaina-Figure exists prooves that there must be some demand for new EU-Material, right?
Jaina Solo's black jumpsuit is kind of her go to outfit in the Legacy of the Force novels. She is shown wearing a black jumpsuit on the cover of Invincible. Jaina also flys StealthX fighters which are basically black x-wings with stealth capabilities so the jumpsuit and black helmet also go well with that. Another awesome review btw you definitely deserve way more subs.
Funny thing is I literally tried to find an image of it on google, but had to move on. Later that night I was going through some comics to shoot our video from this past Sunday and the first Star Wars comic I opened Leia was wearing that exact same suit.
Toy Galaxy Yea besides the Invincible cover and a Japanese New Jedi Order book cover, youd don't really see to many physical representations of her in the jumpsuit so I can definitely see how finding pics could be tough. Thanks for the reply you make great content!

Probably in the minority but I want more EU characters. Jacen solo, anakin solo, Ben skywalker, kyp durron. I loved the EU growing up so it has a place in my heart and my childhood.

I read the books and was excited to get this figure so easily when it came out. Great blaster and purple lightsaber. Great suit and sculpt. Its hidden in my daughter's room somewhere!
A great figure of an excellent character, last book I read she was known as the Sword of the Jedi. She is a very powerful force user and excellent pilot. Jaina and Jason also come in the 3.75 scale but very expensive. These are about 10 at Ross.

My local wallmart messed up and put a Han Solo from the Solo: A Star Wars Story before its release in April. I'm not a fan of the new Star Wars, but would love to sell it to someone who will appreciate it. You'd be one of the few people to get one early to review.
In a desperate time before the prequels when stars wars was a fading memory and there were only rumors of another trilogy, Timothy Zahn's novels were a ray of hope. I fell off before Jaina grew up, but I'll always be glad for the comics and novels that kept star wars alive. I love this figure because she represents how wide the star wars universe can be and she just looks cool.
According to a member of the Black Series design team I spoke with at HasCon, Jaina wasn't even on the ballot. She won by an overwhelming number of write-ins, beating then-leader and actual Hasbro submitted candidate, Galen "Starkiller, no not that one, the one with the lightsabers" Marek

I always liked the Expanded Universe figures- especially from the POTF2 line. I thought it was a good way of producing interesting-looking characters that more or less looked canonical without resorting to another Cantina denizen that had all of three frames of film time.

As someone who reads both EU and the current canon, current novels have not improved in writing or storytelling as a whole. Some novels are good (Lost Stars, Bloodline, Ahsoka, Leia) and some are bad (Aftermath, Legends of Luke Skywalker, Heir to the Jedi, Phasma). The same goes for the EU. Saying the entirity of the EU is poor is just ridiculous and obviously an opinion only someone who hasnt invested in the universe can have. I highly doubt he has read the hundreds of novels and comicbooks in the EU to speak so poorly of the timeline as a whole.

The Force Awakens seemed like horrible fan fiction to me. At least in the EU Jacen’s decent to the dark side was a slow buildup. Being dropped into the middle of a story about Kylo Ren was dissatisfying.

Not a huge fan of the character, but this figure has to be in the top 5 of Star Wars Black Series figures. She's impressive in hand and the Fighter Pilot gear is removable. Now give us a Mara Jade Hasbro.

To be honest the only figures I have really looking forward to so far came out like Qui, Lando Boba I would like a Return of the Jedi Boba fett. I'm looking forward to Grann Moff Tarkin not but to many of the newer character s I just have no connection with the newer characters like the old ones.

I wanted to like the EU because, hey, more Star Wars at a point when there was none, but I could never get into it too much. Most everything I read was an experience in joyless ultra detail, and I kept wondering when it was going to start being fun. Like, you know, Star Wars was.
I wasn't excited for this figure at all, if they were gonna do a legends figure out of the poll I would have much rathered Darth Talon or Starkiller, as I'm not too familiar with Jaina outside of research. But having the figure in hand, I really like it a lot. Great review!
The black suit with the orange highlights makes me think of Daisy Johnson/Quake from Agents of SHIELD. Possible ML custom idea guys?

Great review! I like the figure a lot and hope to find in my stores, but let's be real. It's Hasbro distribution we're talking about, so I'll find it sometime next year unless it becomes a peg warmer
For me it was one of those things where I wasn't looking for it. Just stumbled upon it. Got lucky, right place, right time.
It’s the retail stores that don’t know when to refresh their pegs with new figures from the stockroom. A lot of times they’re sitting on fresh cases in the back while their shelves are filled with Constable Zuvios because they only see that the pegs are already filled. You pretty much have to get in the habit of asking an employee to check the back.
The EU never resonated with me either. I have a lot of trouble caring about anything outside of the original trilogy. She’s still a great looking figure though! Seems like you’re on to something with contortionists figures. Sounds like a theme we missed out on from one of those smaller company, adult-collector-centric, toylines in the early 2000’s.

Nope. Everything they put into their Disney canon fucks up. Stop ripping off ideas from the EU and OT, and come up with some original stuff that is good.

Well. I now know how I'm posing my Jana Solo on the shelf.
The expanded universe was pretty awful, I always felt. Too many books where Luke falls in love with some girl who's doomed to die, some new Imperial admiral tries to re-establish the Empire via an Imperial superweapon. It all felt flabby, with no clear direction of where they wanted to take the Star Wars Universe. So far, since the Disney/Marvel takeover, things have been tightened up considerably - there's a clear course for the movies leading on from ROTJ. There are other movies which will fit in and around the existing movies (and after all, it's on the big screen where Star Wars belongs), and there are comic books, novels and TV shows that will flesh out the gaps and we can all stop pretending that the two Ewok movies were something that had to be acknowledged as real. Though I do miss Star Wars: Clone Wars.

Never really got into any of the expended universe stuff or was aware of that knownledge until becoming a figure collector even saw info on this character. Still I like this figure even now playing Star Wars Battlefront 2 I hope they make an Iden Versio figure in her inferno squad outfit with a removable helmet like in the game even her rebel outfit she wears but with of course 3d printing tech on the faces even if Hasbro would give double jointed elbows on the female figures.
I've read at least 60 EU novels and Jaina and Mara Jade are easily my favorite characters. Big nod to pre Canon Thrawn, too. The novels won't win any Hugo awards, but they're good, pulpy fun.
I plan to get one, I just like the look of the figure.

There was some good stuff in the EU but you really had to wade through some pointlessness to get there. At the time you assumed it would be the only new SW we would ever get. The Yuuzhan Vong storyline was 21 books. TWENTY ONE!! But it did have some great moments.

Anakin Solo's death and Jaina and Jacens ultimate showdown. now that I think back all the good moments were kind of downers....
What always bothered me was Chewie's death. Not just because he was (and will always be) my favorite character but because Lucas didn't want to kill off any of the human likeness's he owned but figured "Oh well" when it came to him. That's why i love when you see Chewie flying the Falcon by himself right before he picks up Rey and Finn. I feel like Demi Moore in Ghost.
Regardless, the original Thrawn trilogy is a masterpiece and if they made Mara Jade and Talon Kardde figures i'd buy them up and I hope to find this one soon!

Toy Galaxy That was probably the best series too. That and Shadows of the Empire. Some of the x-wing novels were great, but I was playing a lot of X-Wing vs TIE Fighter or X-Wing Alliance at the time. Everything else was pretty E.L. James-ey..

Like I really like the Death star commander, the Tuskin raider Obi wan Kenobi was a good figure I feel like the best charcters all ready came out. I didn't even start a Last Jedi shelf yet I hope the movie changes that awesome review by the way.
I’ve never been huge on the Extended Universe of Star Wars (now ‘Legends’) partly because I do sort of get a disjointed, fanfic-ish feel from a lot of it, but I’m not going to lie: the Republic Commando books were VERY well written and did a good job of fleshing out the lives of the Republic’s soldiers. Only disappointment was that I don’t think they ever mentioned what happened to Sev from the game.
VomitousLeviathan The storylines featuring Jaina solo (NJO, Legacy of the Force, Fate of the Jedi) were fantastic in my opinion. Some of the 90s Bantam Spectra novels are weak however (besides Thrawn Trilogy of course)

Personally I loved the original EU. Up until they started doing prequel books I had read/owned almost all of them. I was upset at first when they announced it was no longer canon, but thinking about it, if they had tried to keep it in the timeline they woud have angered and lost a huge portion of their fan base because we would have ripped every little wrong detail to shreds.

Thrawn is a decent example of this (i said decent because hes still a farcry to what he was like in legends)

I was never really into the Star Wars EU. I read a lot of it in high school but once they killed Chewbacca I just didn’t care anymore. I was disappointed this figure was even an option on the ballet and equal as disappointed that so many people chose her.
However. She looks good. Like. So good. And having digital face printing doesn’t really matter for her since she’s not really based on a real person anyways.

I agree, the could've put another character on the ballot(Cad Bane). I hope 'Legends' characters don't pop up a lot in the future. We got Jaina before Zeb, Ezra, Kallus, 5s, etc. That doesn't seem right.
