Serious problem with the Chair, totally unacceptable behaviour.

Person in pink absolutely correct. The chair screeching back at her, really not appropriate.
It’s mad that they (in the full video) all walk out over very minor behaviour from Pink, despite the ridiculous behaviour of the chair previously. Go on Sandra!

How / why is the clerk chairing?! (And getting away with doing so badly too.)

Because the PC members are not experienced in local government

This is what happens when the community doesn't want to get involved: you get incompetent people with big egos wanting "to make a difference". Anyone who hides their face behind a sheet of paper (or a coat) and who tries to gain power by yelling at other people obviously has no business being in a "public" function. Not only i agree that the whole council should resign, but most of the people there should understand that they hàve no business there.
It might be interesting for someone who knows they wouldn't have been elected if the community was involved to sit on a council and get their 5 minutes of fame, but this is not the kind of fame anyone is looking for. It's also not a good way to increase your self-esteem if you don't like yourself because you can't control yourself. If you know you don't have the knowledge, the self-esteem and the wisdom to sit on a council, stay away from it and let more competent people do the job. We are in a period where stupid people want to rule the world, and this is the kind of results they get!

Not sure even Jackie Weaver could deal with this, but there is a solution, so I do hope the community take heart.

Well given Jackie weaver was proven wrong in her actions, I doubt she could help.

The Chair conduct is very questionable for this meeting. Surely the Clerk should advise in a proper manor.

What I want to know is why they had a poll, how much it cost and why they are ignoring the result

    • @face2facewithtdpc754

The PC upset residents with a series of contentious decision. The chairs asked for a vote of no confidence at the annual parish meeting, about 75% voted against them but asked for the vote to be put to the whole village in a formal parish poll which cost £1,800. As the PC had been elected uncontested and residents never had the opportunity to cast a vote for them, the cost was thought to be justified. A poll is none binding so they don’t have to resign and it looks like they won’t. You can see the meeting where the decision is made under “annual parish meeting” 23rd May 2023. It is actually a fascinating lesson in democracy.

It's embarrassing, but oddly compelling. I find myself wondering how I would conduct myself if I were there. Would I be able to make a difference, or would I just sort of become like one of them. Maybe I'd just keep away from it all.

@@harrparr8988 I would be like the woman in pink, but honestly I think I'd have to walk away if I couldn't get the group to work better than this. Parish Councils can be holding on to a lot of money meant to benefit the community. You'd need a couple of reliable and competent people on the same page as you to get the best out of each member and achieve results.
