Woww Dr. Todd’s roast on street racers is probably the most informed and accurate I’ve ever heard from a white collar professional type of person. The part about chopping off mufflers and using cold air intakes without adjusting for the change in back pressure is something I’d expect to hear from a mechanic or real car builder. And the part about handling being just as important if not more so than huge power gains is something I only started to realize after years of being a car enthusiast

Growing up, my father used to regale me with his hot-rodding stories from the 1950s. In the 1980s I tried to emulate him and hit a boy on a bike when I was 17. That cured me of speeding and reckless driving forever and I paid the price. Thankfully the boy wasn't hurt badly. My son will never hear about his grandfather's driving, that's for sure. @C L are you telling me you’ve never walked on a sidewalk next to a 40 mph street? Most people going 40 aren’t going to hit pedestrians unless they are either speeding or not paying attention. And when people walk across said street they take into account the positions of the cars and they calculate that they’ll be able to cross because they don’t expect an oncoming car to be doing over twice the speed limit. And same is true for making turns in your car. You gauge the distance and based on the conditions of the road, the distance of the cars and the speed limits of the road you make your turn. I do that all the time because the street I live on has a cross street where the limit is 40.
Oh, and shall we forbid the students at the high school and jr. high school from walking on the sidewalks in front their schools on this same street?

It's got a 455 big block engine in it, monster cam, reverse valve body, trans brake and all manner of various other things that make it BY FAR faster than this little boys mustang. Her car is literally barely street legal, it has a fuel cell for God's sake. We are a family of gear heads that love our hot rods, she was raised at the drag strip. She is now almost 18 and guess how many people she's killed on the road? Not a one. Accidents? No. A single ticket? Nope. Never even been pulled over. I'm 37 and I literally haven't ever been pulled over in my life. We taught her to act with some damn sense or get her big ass busted. Parenting. Its a lost art.

What I can say is this; his sentence is well deserved. He didn’t make a mistake; he suffered consequences to his action (street racing), and unfortunately, two people suffered worse than he. No matter how attractive people believe he is, he deserves that sentence. Those people can’t come back; that woman will never come home to her husband and parents, and that father lost his child. The teens were also killed except for the brother riding in the back. The court system took grandma's license and tried to blame her but someone got photos of the cab and the kids had been drinking. The driver was supposedly related to someone in law enforcement. But grandma still felt guilty because her friends died and she had to live with that for years. Girl, when I look back over these past few years, I'm started to suspect that those of us who have better judgement and reasoning skills are the minority.
Look at Nik Cruz. Another one, Lisa Montgomery. She deserved to die, but for some reason so many women felt she deserved to live, despite the fact she cut out a child from the mother and left the mother to die. No compassion for the victim, BUT BOATLOADS for the fuckt mind that did it.

The mere thought of getting into trouble, even accidentally, brings me out in a cold sweat. My life would be over if I accidentally killed somebody. No judge or jury could tell me I was innocent. So our parents, consciously or subconsciously, definitely have an impact on such character traits. Strangely, though, I have a half sister who believes that anything goes so long as she gets away with it.

The prosecutor arguing that it was intentional is stupid.
The kid did not intend to kill a mother and child. Seriously, just stop.
That being said, he still knew better and needs to be held accountable for his actions and the sentence is justified.

The difference between unintentional and accident are two different things. Accidents wouldn’t have been a result of Cameron’s doing. The crash was negligent vehicular homicide, but unintentional to the point that he wasn’t going to kill someone.
Making the choice that is unsafe is not the same as wanting to kill people. But still, the sentence seems justified.
I think people are misusing both the words unintentional vs intentions and accident vs negligence.
