    Incredible movements for building a strong core and developing strong abs
    Pay close attention to the mechanics & the cues Sal shares
    Everyone wants a six pack but almost NOBODY does their ab exercises correctly...
    Stability Ball Crunches (THE RIGHT WAY)
    - Lock your hips into place
    - Push your hips up
    - Squeeze your gluten
    - Keep your hips up the entire time
    - Extend & Crunch (focusing on contraction)
    - Full extension
    - Squeeze at the top
    - Different hand position changes difficulty of the exercise
    Active Plank
    - Tuck your tailbone
    - Round your lower back
    - Squeeze your core
    - Shortening abs forcing them to do more of the movement
    - Reducing hip flexor activation
    DO THESE THE RIGHT WAY & YOU WILL SEE FAR BETTER RESULTS

    I switched up how I do crunches on the exercise ball after watching and fried my abs after only about half the reps. I've been a hip-flexor/sit-up guy for years apparently. Thanks for the insight guys!

    I was taking online classes from 9 - 5 so I was having to sit for long periods at a time. czcams.com/users/postUgkxEhgucmXpcAGYh8fatGFEnOK2V97VIwhG After the first day in a regular table chair, I thought about an exercise ball and ordered one that night. It came the next day! My hips, legs, back and butt couldn't have been happier! I'm almost 5'11" and I ordered the largest size and it was perfect for me. I also have RLS (restless legs) and this helped so much.Pumping it up was a little challenging and definitely gives you a good arm workout, (I'm a 62 yo woman) but it's very doable. Getting the tape centered with the hole to inflate it and then getting the pin back in was also a little tricky. But I love my new "chair" and I love the torquiose color. Hopefully it will also get used for exercise. 😁

  • @floatingodds

    The amount of compressive force on the spine with the Swiss ball crunch is just wear and tear on the discs. Especially going into extension. Give Stuart McGill a read. Fascinating stuff on the back especially to avoid injury.

    • @PhillipSchlueter
      @PhillipSchlueter Před 6 lety

      Basing an opinion on the flawed studies of Stu McGill is not wise.

    • @floatingodds
      @floatingodds Před 6 lety

      My opinion is not solely based on his studies but from personal experience with a back injury and how excessive flexion and extension of the spine is a no-no. Of course, it's not the case for everyone, it is case by case. There are NBA and NFL athletes with bulged discs with no symptoms and there are 19-year-olds with backs that are in worse shape than 50-year-old WWE vets. There is always the debate of correlation vs. causation. I'll stand behind there being better exercises for the abs to mitigate injury. Plus as we all know swiss ball crunches won't give you a strong core.

      Floating Gods Disagree. I think if ANY movement can be done with good control, mobility and tension then it’s not bad.

    • @floatingodds
      @floatingodds Před 6 lety

      Mind Pump TV we’ll have to agree to disagree. When programming exercises I think the health and longevity of the trainee should be considered. Gymnasts perform amazing movements with good control, mobility and tension however their careers are very short and they deal with a list of problems for the rest of their lives. Exercises can feel great in the moment but depending on the person and the execution there is no say for what can occur down the road. In my option and my choice I would pick safer exercises that yield similar results.

      I agree Alex, the plank is the stupidest thing I have ever seen, does not even work your abs in the first place. These guys on mind pump, need to lift up their t- shirts and show us their abs. If they can't show us their abs, then they have no room to talk about ab training.
