It was because Death Battle has a one time rule where the character can only use their special abilities once. Any ability that ties in with the character feat wise, will only be accepted once. Ben's omnitrix could only do its fail safe ability on Ben only once due to the Death Battle rule set. This event happened when Green Lantern tried to get the watch at the beginning. Also I think the sottobro effect was only implied through an alien's mindset. Not necessarily Ben's mindset. Ben isn't the literal Alien X mentally. Thus, he didn't think he could also follow Green Latern through time due to inexperience. I LOVE Ben 10, and I'd rather his character stay the humble hero of his time. Unlike DC characters. I hope you understand! Ben 10 won regardless. 😘 I'm happy with how it ended. It was epic!

Agreed It's just an unfair fight, Hal deals with so much more powerful people on a daily basis that ben 10 is another curb stop for him. One of their biggest problems is matching two people up just because they are somewhat similar in themes. Venom vs Bane is a prime example of this. Wish they would stop doing it
Eh I wouldnt hate on them, but thats just how american comic heroes roll, especially DC. I came to terms on it all the way back on Goku vs Supes, because most of his feats were ridiculous and absurd, with a lot of them written by different people. Goku only had one writer in all these years. Almost every character that has lost like this has had a single writer, a consistent iteration. American comics do not follow this rule by nature, and DB just has to apply that to every battle. Sorry to say this, but they were right in the comparison here. It was a logical calculation, but its just math no one wants to see because its broken and stupid.
Plenty of youtubers actually agree that Ben should have won. Ben would be able to detect Green Lantern going back in time, the Alien X clones would not disappear like Naruto's Shadow Clones, and Alien X is technically omnipresent. In addition, Upgrade can hack a Green Lantern ring.
That and the Omnitrix can activate on its own to transform Ben into an Alien in a instant to catch the big Bang, there is no way you could just cut off his hand without the watch activating

While chasing Lightray, the New God of Speed, part of the same race as Darkseid, who is a complex multiversal being, Hal nearly broke into the speed force. Keep in mind, Wally West once moved fast enough to outrace instant teleportation, and even then, he still didn’t come close to breaking into the speed force. The fact that Hal almost did so means that he was actually moving faster than Wally was when he outraced instant teleportation. Big bangs are not that fast compared to Hal. Ben's feats are absolutely pathetic compared to even mid tier DC heralds. If you knew what Hal and the justice league have pulled off, you wouldn't be impressed with Ben at all. Read comics.

First off, Ben has losts numerous times before. Second, he's had his arm chopped off before. By Vilgax. And the watch didn't protect him. The failsafe only protects Ben from a fatal blow. Cutting off the arm isn't instantly fatal. Vilgax would probably say, "Damn! I could have gotten the Omnitrix sooner if I just cut off Tennyson's arm."

@@princelamar1735 Nope. If you watched Ben 10 Omniverse, there were a couple of episodes in which the main Ben timeline was cut off, wiping out all the Bens except for one. And that was due to the interference of Professor Paradox. And Ben 10,000 had Alien X fused with Atomix at the time and he was wiped out. So no, Alien X may be all-powerful but he's not all-knowing. He's limited to what Ben knows and Ben didn't even consider going back that far in time.

To Clear up one point the Green lanterns are not weak to yellow they simply changed it back in the comics back in the day. To wear Green lanterns are susceptible to fear which is the yellow spectrum so technically for a Green lantern yellow as far as fears concern is their weakness not the color itself it used to be but they ditch that back in the day.
I was rooting for Ben too but at the same time, I knew next to nothing about Green Lantern. So learning he was capable of doing literally everything Ben could do and more kind of made it difficult to disagree with the result. It also doesn't help that every comment on their video arguing against the result is seemingly equally as ignorant towards Green Lantern.
Green Lantern is definitely more powerful than Ben, but the way he beat Ben wouldn't work. He would have found a different way to win anyway, but this way leaves a sour taste in the mouths of fans
I like how they say that celestialsapiens can be defeated and neglected to mention that the only thing that defeated a celestialsapien in the show was another celestialsapien. And the only reason that the galactic gladiator lost is because Ben presented too many problems for them to deliberate on rendering them immobile due to indecisiveness. That's not a weakness for ben because all decisions are made by him and him alone. The only creator confirmed way that a celestialsapien can be hurt or killed is by entering the atmosphere of a planet that is described as an aberration which means that the planet essentially has an instant death hax and a powerful celestialsapien (such as alien x) can survive if they simply decide not to die

Even then, Hal fights people who can end existence on a whim every other week, such as Spectre, Parallax, Krona, Larfleze, and even Darkseid. He has also survived blows from Superboy Prime, who can reset the DC multiverse with his punches. That's not even counting how DC cosmology completely, and utterly, DWARFS Ben 10's. Truth is, based on their analysis, Hal should have won... but how they did it ignored a lot of details. It should have been a way closer match than what they did. They definitely nerfed Ben during the video.
It’s one thing to be salty over Goku vs Superman, because Superman is objectively too OP for Death Battle scenarios. It’s another to completely misunderstand Ben 10, the Sotébro Effect (which Main Ben is aware of and can recognize), and the Omnipotence of Alien X. Death Battle was objectively wrong in this conclusion.
I knew green lantern would win he is my favourite character and OP, and was extremely slept on by misinformed people with no research or information on green lanterns feats and abilities, not to mention Hal Jordan’s feats. His feats are comparable to Ben 10. Upgrade and feedback should’ve definitely been used. The fight should’ve ended much differently tho as it was inaccurate. Failsafe didn’t work as the severed arm potentially wouldn’t have killed.
The Omnitrix has a fail safe for the Omnitrix being removed and bens arm being cut of counts as the Omnitrix being removed, plus the way death battle used alien x is wrong since he is omnipotent and the made alien x use melee battle too much
Shadman Well you could just take off the Ring during a fight. It’s happened multiple times. The watch would have to be forcefully remove which is hard if Ben transforms into an Alien since there is no watch on him at that point.
I just don’t get why green lantern killed a kid with a device given to him by its creator. The omnitrix isn’t even a galactic super weapon, it’s a Peace device that is used as a super wepon by people like villgax.

They left out a lot for Hal as well, and depowered both. Beating the entire Justice League, a Parallax version of himself that had the power of 3600 rings. (Entire corps) Volthoom The First Lantern, and killing Mandrakk (Multiversal+ level beings, which means he can damage Alien X) Vilgax on many occasions succeeds in taking off the omnitrix. Safety precautions or not, the explosions wouldn’t be enough to damage Hal. It isn’t unreasonable that he’s one of the people that’s capable of cutting Bens arm off. Upgrade can’t hack Hal’s ring specifically because his ring is no longer tied to the corps anymore, and it’s not tech based anymore. Made from his will power, because he is now a living construct. No other Alien stood a chance in Bens omnitrix, excluding X. (Even Way Big, Feedback, Atomix, etc lack feats that could stack up.) I will agree there was a misunderstanding of X’s power, but Hal faces reality warper a/Multiversal level beings every other comic arc and beats them with will power alone. He can survive universal erasure from X if it came down too it.

@@funichigo Yeah it is ironic that in an attempt to say that DB doesn't know a thing about Ben 10, they keep linking to one of two videos by the same person, who...doesn't know much about Green Lantern. Like do they just not have the self-awareness to see how much confirmation bias that is on their part? Ben is not unbeatable, Alien X is not impervious to harm, and it isn't a perfect being when compared to other fictional universes. Alien X is a badass character who is the top of the food chain in the Ben 10 franchise, to be certain, but have you freaking seen the bullshit DC puts out on the regular? Hal has faced the kind of shit Alien X is capable of multiple times, and even killed characters with much of its power set and durability skills. Unfortunately DB didn't really get that across that well, often just mentioning some of these feats in passing. Plus people keep bringing up Alien X can use its powers with a simple thought, which, I mean considering they mention in Hal's feats(yet unfortunately didn't explain it, so people might have missed it) that he was able to scan the entire DC universe(which is bigger than our own, and likely bigger than Ben 10's), in the speed of a single heart beat means that Hal has absolutely ridiculous reaction speed(a fact they double downed on with Hal's manually controlled light speed piloting feat they actually did mention). Point is, Hal can react if not exactly as fast as Alien X, damn near fast enough to make Alien X's speed at using abilities not big enough of a gap to matter, meaning Hal could counter them.

I reject this. You can not beat alienX. AlienX should have been able to tell green lantern was going back in time. Also the Omnitrix’s defense fail safe would still have activated, regardless of whether or not Ben is aware of an upcoming threat.
I know I'm late but the GL ring once protected a GL from being retconned. It also helped Hal one-shot a being equal to Alien X. So yeah Lantern Ring > Omnitrix
Just gonna mention that Alien X is actually an outerversal being because the Forge of Creation where Celestialsapiens come from is an outerversal realm. So knowing that, this fight is so much more wrong than you know. 💀💀💀
Easiest way this battle could have gone Ben transforms into that alien that is so horrific it strikes paralysing fear onto anything, making Hal unable to use the ring as he's now filled with fear, and end the battle

It was because Death Battle has a one time rule where the character can only use their special abilities once.
Any ability that ties in with the character feat wise, will only be accepted once.
Ben's omnitrix could only do its fail safe ability on Ben only once due to the Death Battle rule set.
This event happened when Green Lantern tried to get the watch at the beginning.
Also I think the sottobro effect was only implied through an alien's mindset. Not necessarily Ben's mindset. Ben isn't the literal Alien X mentally. Thus, he didn't think he could also follow Green Latern through time due to inexperience.
I LOVE Ben 10, and I'd rather his character stay the humble hero of his time. Unlike DC characters.

I 100% agree with Josh, I don't want to be ungrateful about it, and I really don't want to hate Death Battle, but out of all of the Battles where they have underplayed and Nerfed characters, this was the worst, they had a severe lack of research in their analysis, in fact, I'm starting to think that maybe they should consider banning DC characters from Death Battle altogether, I get that they can be over powered sometimes, but this is a new level of low, even for them, I don't want to sound like a sad and salty prick but I really feel like Death Battle are trolling us with this one

It's just an unfair fight, Hal deals with so much more powerful people on a daily basis that ben 10 is another curb stop for him. One of their biggest problems is matching two people up just because they are somewhat similar in themes. Venom vs Bane is a prime example of this. Wish they would stop doing it

Eh I wouldnt hate on them, but thats just how american comic heroes roll, especially DC. I came to terms on it all the way back on Goku vs Supes, because most of his feats were ridiculous and absurd, with a lot of them written by different people. Goku only had one writer in all these years. Almost every character that has lost like this has had a single writer, a consistent iteration. American comics do not follow this rule by nature, and DB just has to apply that to every battle. Sorry to say this, but they were right in the comparison here. It was a logical calculation, but its just math no one wants to see because its broken and stupid.

Plenty of youtubers actually agree that Ben should have won. Ben would be able to detect Green Lantern going back in time, the Alien X clones would not disappear like Naruto's Shadow Clones, and Alien X is technically omnipresent. In addition, Upgrade can hack a Green Lantern ring.
That and the Omnitrix can activate on its own to transform Ben into an Alien in a instant to catch the big Bang, there is no way you could just cut off his hand without the watch activating

I can EASILY prove you wrong. While chasing Lightray, the New God of Speed, part of the same race as Darkseid, who is a complex multiversal being, Hal nearly broke into the speed force. Keep in mind, Wally West once moved fast enough to outrace instant teleportation, and even then, he still didn’t come close to breaking into the speed force. The fact that Hal almost did so means that he was actually moving faster than Wally was when he outraced instant teleportation. Big bangs are not that fast compared to Hal.
Ben's feats are absolutely pathetic compared to even mid tier DC heralds. If you knew what Hal and the justice league have pulled off, you wouldn't be impressed with Ben at all. Read comics.

Not to mention, the Onnitrix will not let Ben die. People have tried to cut the omnitrix off of him, and failed. The Omnitrix can INSTANTLY transform Ben into any number of alien forms in which limb detachment is not lethal, wouldn’t rid Ben of the omnitrix, or just fast enough to avoid the chop in the first place. Not even to mention Ben as Alien X can follow Green Lantern back in time AND stop him from going back IN THE FIRST PLACE, and the multiple copies of X before the time travel aren’t like shadow clones, each and every one of them are as powerful and durable as the original. There’s no main X, they are ALL the main X. That and there were a ton of them in the background that weren’t doing anything. Not to mention X could rewind time until the Ring ran out of power then kill him instantly, and of course the entire blink him out of existence.
In short there is no possible way Ben could have lost this fight except for the writers simply not wanting Ben to win, so they nerfed the absolute fuck out of him to let Lantern take the W. The entire thing is bullshit incarnate.’
First off, Ben has losts numerous times before. Second, he's had his arm chopped off before. By Vilgax. And the watch didn't protect him. There's also been other situations where the watch attempted to protect him and failed. You're not winning this one. GL has also beaten beings considered omnipotent before. And if Alien X is so powerful that he can instantly wipe out anything he wants with a blink, why didn't he do that in his fight with another one of his race? I'll wait...

It should be noted that the creators of the show confirmed Alien X is in fact only the second strongest alien in the omnitrix, another thing they left out is the fact Ben also has a photographic memory
Alien X couldv'e put Green Laturn into a time loop and used his photographic memory to memorize all of his attacks.
The color yellow was the GL corps weakness because Parallax was imprisoned inside the central power battery, the entire corps overcame that limit after he was removed.
I think this Death Battle would get a lot less backlash if Wiz and Boomstick brought up Ben’s fight with Sunder, a bounty hunter who managed to chop Ben’s hand with the Omnitrix off and send him to another dimension. Where was the auto-protect then?

The Ben 10 vs green lantern battle sucks due to the sotobro effect and the failsafe of the omnitrix.
The failsafe only protects Ben from a fatal blow. Cutting off the arm isn't instantly fatal. Vilgax would probably say, "Damn! I could have gotten the Omnitrix sooner if I just cut off Tennyson's arm."

@@princelamar1735 Nope. If you watched Ben 10 Omniverse, there were a couple of episodes in which the main Ben timeline was cut off, wiping out all the Bens except for one. And that was due to the interference of Professor Paradox. And Ben 10,000 had Alien X fused with Atomix at the time and he was wiped out. So no, Alien X may be all-powerful but he's not all-knowing. He's limited to what Ben knows and Ben didn't even consider going back that far in time.

@@funichigo People like Vilgax have tried to rip Ben's arm off before and steal the Omnitrix in ways that do not immediately kill Ben before, and the fail did activate then, so why not now? The only way people could get close to defeating Ben is by carefully disabling the watch in a non-threatening way. Which is not going to fly in a heated battle.

To Clear up one point the Green lanterns are not weak to yellow they simply changed it back in the comics back in the day. To wear Green lanterns are susceptible to fear which is the yellow spectrum so technically for a Green lantern yellow as far as fears concern is their weakness not the color itself it used to be but they ditch that back in the day.

I was rooting for Ben too but at the same time, I knew next to nothing about Green Lantern.
So learning he was capable of doing literally everything Ben could do and more kind of made it difficult to disagree with the result.
It also doesn't help that every comment on their video arguing against the result is seemingly equally as ignorant towards Green Lantern.

I like how they say that celestialsapiens can be defeated and neglected to mention that the only thing that defeated a celestialsapien in the show was another celestialsapien. And the only reason that the galactic gladiator lost is because Ben presented too many problems for them to deliberate on rendering them immobile due to indecisiveness. That's not a weakness for ben because all decisions are made by him and him alone.
The only creator confirmed way that a celestialsapien can be hurt or killed is by entering the atmosphere of a planet that is described as an aberration which means that the planet essentially has an instant death hax and a powerful celestialsapien (such as alien x) can survive if they simply decide not to die

CelestialsapienS, plural, do that. You cannot give that feat to any single one of them. Alone, celestialsapiens are nothing but universal fodders. Besides, making people look and sound different isn't much of a feat. Even then, Hal fights people who can end existence on a whim every other week, such as Spectre, Parallax, Krona, Larfleze, and even Darkseid. He has also survived blows from Superboy Prime, who can reset the DC multiverse with his punches. That's not even counting how DC cosmology completely, and utterly, DWARFS Ben 10's.
Simply put, don't ever compare a cartoon character to a comic book character. Ben just doesn't have enough years of bs writing and op feats to compete.

It’s another to completely misunderstand Ben 10, the Sotébro Effect (which Main Ben is aware of and can recognize), and the Omnipotence of Alien X.
Death Battle was objectively wrong in this conclusion.

I knew green lantern would win he is my favourite character and OP, and was extremely slept on by misinformed people with no research or information on green lanterns feats and abilities, not to mention Hal Jordan’s feats. His feats are comparable to Ben 10.
Upgrade and feedback should’ve definitely been used.

Shadman Well you could just take off the Ring during a fight. It’s happened multiple times. The watch would have to be forcefully remove which is hard if Ben transforms into an Alien since there is no watch on him at that point.
I just don’t get why green lantern killed a kid with a device given to him by its creator. The omnitrix isn’t even a galactic super weapon, it’s a Peace device that is used as a super wepon by people like villgax.

They left out a lot for Hal as well, and depowered both. Beating the entire Justice League, a Parallax version of himself that had the power of 3600 rings. (Entire corps) Volthoom The First Lantern, and killing Mandrakk (Multiversal+ level beings, which means he can damage Alien X) Vilgax on many occasions succeeds in taking off the omnitrix. Safety precautions or not, the explosions wouldn’t be enough to damage Hal. It isn’t unreasonable that he’s one of the people that’s capable of cutting Bens arm off. Upgrade can’t hack Hal’s ring specifically because his ring is no longer tied to the corps anymore, and it’s not tech based anymore. Made from his will power, because he is now a living construct. No other Alien stood a chance in Bens omnitrix, excluding X. (Even Way Big, Feedback, Atomix, etc lack feats that could stack up.) I will agree there was a misunderstanding of X’s power, but Hal faces reality warper a/Multiversal level beings every other comic arc and beats them with will power alone. He can survive universal erasure from X if it came down too it.

funichigo That’s what I’m saying. I grew up on both characters, so I was okay with the outcome either way. Just wish more people would take time too understand both characters/sides without just outing Hal because of Alien X. If they took time to actually look into Hal’s feats, it isn’t an unreasonable outcome. Even his recreating the universe feat as X pales in comparison too the people who Hal’s defeated. And again, they lowballed BOTH characters in this.

@@funichigo Yeah it is ironic that in an attempt to say that DB doesn't know a thing about Ben 10, they keep linking to one of two videos by the same person, who...doesn't know much about Green Lantern. Like do they just not have the self-awareness to see how much confirmation bias that is on their part? Ben is not unbeatable, Alien X is not impervious to harm, and it isn't a perfect being when compared to other fictional universes. Alien X is a badass character who is the top of the food chain in the Ben 10 franchise, to be certain, but have you freaking seen the bullshit DC puts out on the regular? Hal has faced the kind of shit Alien X is capable of multiple times, and even killed characters with much of its power set and durability skills. Unfortunately DB didn't really get that across that well, often just mentioning some of these feats in passing. Plus people keep bringing up Alien X can use its powers with a simple thought, which, I mean considering they mention in Hal's feats(yet unfortunately didn't explain it, so people might have missed it) that he was able to scan the entire DC universe(which is bigger than our own, and likely bigger than Ben 10's), in the speed of a single heart beat means that Hal has absolutely ridiculous reaction speed(a fact they double downed on with Hal's manually controlled light speed piloting feat they actually did mention). Point is, Hal can react if not exactly as fast as Alien X, damn near fast enough to make Alien X's speed at using abilities not big enough of a gap to matter, meaning Hal could counter them.

I know I'm late but the GL ring once protected a GL from being retconned. It also helped Hal one-shot a being equal to Alien X.
