  • TINTAGEL VILLAGE CORNWALL | Nestled on the rugged north coast of Cornwall, England, Tintagel is a charming village steeped in myth, history, and natural beauty. Tintagel and the nearby Tintagel Castle are a tourist destination forever linked to the legend of King Arthur, making it a popular Cornwall travel destination for history buffs and literature enthusiasts alike.
Here are the top five reasons why you should visit Tintagel:
Tintagel Castle:The crown jewel of Tintagel, this dramatic castle ruin sits atop the cliffs overlooking the Atlantic Ocean. While the exact origins remain debated, some believe there may have been Roman and post-Roman settlements here. The 13th-century remains are impressive, with sections attributed to Richard, Earl of Cornwall. Tintagel Castle's legendary association with King Arthur adds to its allure, making it a must-see for fans of Arthurian legends.
St. Nectan's Glen: A hidden gem, St. Nectan's Glen is a mystical wooded valley with a cascading waterfall. Legend says that St. Nectan, a 5th-century saint, established a hermitage here. The enchanting walk through the glen leads you to a series of waterfalls culminating in a spectacular 60-foot drop into a plunge pool. Swimming is permitted in the lower pool, but be sure to check the conditions and tides beforehand.
King Arthur's Great Halls: Located on the mainland side of Tintagel Castle, these are the supposed remains of King Arthur's court. While the historical evidence is slim, the excavations offer a glimpse into the lives of people who lived here in the Dark Ages. The dramatic setting and Arthurian connection make it a popular spot for visitors.
Merlin's Cave: Accessible when the tide is low, Merlin's Cave is a sea cave linked to the legend of King Arthur's wizard, Merlin. The dramatic location and folklore make it a popular spot for exploration and photography.
Tintagel Old Post Office: A delightful example of Victorian architecture, the Tintagel Old Post Office now houses a museum that delves into the village's rich history and geology. Exhibits explore smuggling, shipwrecks, and the lives of the local people. The interactive displays make it a great place to learn about Tintagel's past.
Beyond these top five, Tintagel offers a variety of other visitor attractions, including:
Tintagel Toy Museum: A charming collection of vintage toys and games.
The South West Coast Path: A scenic walking trail that offers stunning coastal views.
Bossiney Cove: A secluded beach with rock pools for exploring.
St. Materiana's Church: A 12th-century church with Norman features.
Tintagel's unique blend of history, myth, and natural beauty makes it a captivating destination for travelers of all ages. So, come explore Tintagel village Cornwall and see what magic awaits you!

Thanks for the memories, we will have been married 52 years this coming September and spent our honeymoon touring the West Country.
We had lunch at the Old Malthouse and wandered round the village which doesn’t seem to have changed much.
We even have a photo of the Old Post Office.

The village is lovely. Many years ago,I believe the house that is curve shaped covered with ivy (not sure if that's a good description🤔) near the start of your video, used to be a restaurant called The Riggs. If anyone can confirm, that would be great.
Thanks yet again for a fab video 👍👍👌👌

It's a pity that you didn't show us the Post office sign a bit more, so we could see the history of it. It looks like a beautiful building.
