I play this concert at least one time a week, since 2020 pandemic. Best cure for the depression.
You just might be right- I’m having a Lou night 🌹
Same here, I found this gem during the lockdown and I love watching this - rock and roll at its peak right here
Lol lou
😊
Awesome, I hit it on my bday 4th of July labor day and memorial day.. oh and if my neighbor puts Springsteen on, my system is much louder..
I’m 71 and just discovered Lou! I’d heard “Walk On The Wild Side” from way back in the day, but never listened to anything else...This man is amazing...I’m glad to have found him.
You are like me. I’m 55 and a big music guy but never payed much attention to Lou…. but this concert woke me up and I’ve been listening to him like crazy on Spotify. He’s a genius and his Velvet Underground stuff is equally as good. Enjoy brother! ✌️
@@johnschkeeper no...hahaha...hardly!..I have listened to music since mid 1950s. But I’m still “Alive” so I plan on enjoying all different types of music... The Tibetan monastery was a nice touch...Thanks for your concern✌️
@@outonthetiles thank you! Yeah, I don’t want to look back and see what I missed. I’m sure there was a lot!
So I just listen in the “Present Tense” Take care✌️
@@johnschkeeper I know. Late 60s I was having my 1st son. Beatles, CCR, Stephan wolf (sp) Cream, you get the picture. But believe me that if I had known of Lou and VU I would have been buying their 4,8 tracks😜
Well, that was about time Virginia !!! You've heard since then about The Velvet? The Factory in NYC? Lower East Side? Midtown? I'm from Europe myself and not native English speaking at all, and if it's your case... I mean being a Yankee girl or from I don't know where in the UK you really have to improve your real good old culture... Mind you there's no age at all for this, but still...
The rhythm section in this band is just brilliant
Fernando Saunders is a genius.
@@gregf.4814 Lenny Ferrari and Robert Quine rock. Imo the drummer is woody and repetitive.
@@paolacelletti2056the rhythm section is dull. The drummer beats too hard & Saunders' sound is ugly.
Excellent gig nevetheless as Lou is great
@@mkiswatoo Definitely agree. Hooray for Lou!
Lou is part of my Unholy Trinity, Lou Reed, Iggy Pop and David Bowie
U get yu facts right......they're far from Unholy...Blessed Be 🕉🎼🙏🎤
Triumvirate of badashes
That's one hell of a supergroup. We all know Bowie would be lead heh
We do have points in common then...Alice, Bolan, Purple, Led Zep, Floyd, Yes, Genesis, Graaf, Sabbath, Santana, Tull, Heep...
And a few hundred more I guess: into prog, punk, psyche, classic rock (The Who & the likes), new wave, new romantic, Cold Wave...
And my two heroes: Patti & Jimi of course ...
I'm with you
RIP not only Lou Reed, but ROBERT QUINE! He was playing lead guitar for Lou Reed AND Richard Hell & The Voidoids at the same time! He began as a fan of the Velvet Underground, taping their performances in San Francisco which were later released as "The Quine Tapes." From just a face in the crowd to a rock star in his own right. Thanks Bob!
He plays on Matthew Sweet's "Girlfriend" album. Ivan Julian, the other Voidoids guitar hero, toured with him for that tour.
He was really cool. Like Hunter S. Thompson - but on guitar.
I was wondering who that was, he's really good! The whole band is great.
Seconded. @@nettwench
teached a thing or two to Sonic Youth
What we can say? Nothing. Just smile and cry at the same time. Thank you Lou. Every day and every night.
👍👍👍❤️❤️❤️❤️🇨🇭
busy bass i preferred the other drummer quinne lead and lou reed
cold shivers, right?
Robert Quine is a phenomenal guitar player, how could I not have heard of him before now?
Sheesh, life is strange ....
Such a cool guy Robert!
Se non ne hai mai sentito parlare è perché non conta nulla... è un mediocre
WOW OH WOW !!!
Takes me back 2 70:s....
I still remember all lyrics!!!!!!
sweet.......
Jane indeed !!!!
Miss U Man !!!!!
😊
In 1999 I had a band in college and we started playing sweet jane. than we started adding other Lou's songs to the set and ended up playing a whole set of his songs. I can proudly tell that I played in a Lou Reed tribute/cover band. By chance and by accident, so to speak.
if you like Lou Reed you should check out Lonely Gimmick - All Along the watchtower, it gives me Lou vibes and it's a great take on a classic song
what about the sex and drugs?
Saw him so many times in the city and all over Jersey. He was definitely in the forefront of the punk movement of the 70's
Punk? You have no clue what your saying
the Shithole of Jersey! Haha.
Lou Reed bringing me back to being young, and of course good rocking blues that our parents hated lol😮
Happy Birthday Lou!
81 years old March 2nd 2024.
Are you serious?
Somehow I didn't expect mid-80s Lou to be this sharp. He is in real fighting shape here, and the band is hot.
Yeah definitely. I started seeing him live in the 80’s. Some great lyrics lots of fodder with Reagan . New York is a masterpiece. One of many for King Lou!!! An American poet….
Much better than when I saw him in the 70s. The band is tight
Same, he was in a mess back then 😒
Ah, yes, the good old days when concert footage focused on the players instead of constantly cutting to audience shots. Great show all around!
Lou Reed - RIP, I miss your music. Thanks to CZcams, Lou Reed lives on.
Best lou show i got to see was Cleveland. I wish i was there for this ohh baby now.. i loved Velveeta underground but this lineup is sensatioal.. and lou is sober and at the top of his game average guy.. every time I try to listen to a song from tis show.. bang 2 plus hours pass and im happy
There are no more rock stars like Lou. He was truly one of a kind.
Yup!
Dylan is the last man standing. Lou and Bowie long gone, eternal still. Iggy is still with us to. So we got half a tank alive.
We lost Lou, Bowie, Ronson and Lemmy. Iggy, iggy is all that's left.
@@coreymacdonald7696 No! Van Morrison is incredible. Elvis Costello the same and several others.

Been watching Lou, Tom Petty, Joe Strummer, Stuart Adamson, David Bowie and Prince tonight, god bless those guys, I can't believe they're no longer here.
I was a teenage punk when the Challenger space shuttle exploded on takeoff. I called the radio station and asked the DJ to play Satellite of Love. That's when he told me I was a teenage punk. Then he hung up.
I just turned 66 can I see them in 94 at the Capitol theater. 😊 ❤rip
Quem é do Brasil e curte Lou Reed deixa um like!
Hearing Lou’s voice on “people who died” is such a trip but I love it!!!! Two of the best songwriters of all time on the same stage.
Man, Jim Carroll was all that and then some, my favorite poet. I have so enjoyed this concert, it takes me back. My life was saved by Rock and Roll. Thanks, Chris
I was lucky enough to see Jim twice a few years before this show. A shame more never got the chance.
So damn good, I live in the village right near him for years and never ran into him but thank God I saw him play at least 15 times in NYC.
Sounds too good to be true! Lucky you Lauren!
I used to see him with Laurie Anderson at Canal Bar (a restaurant- then became Don Hill). Catching him in the wild was extraordinary.
Lucky you I only seen him twice in Melbourne Australia, what a legend loved him my favourite for ever ,See you soon Lou
Saw him in L.A. what a great time to be alive and rockin'!!
I know a bloke who saved for years to go and see his hero Lou Reed live. Got the tickets, hotel and flights.
Turned up at the gig.
The hype train is whistling full speed.
Lou looks out at the crowd, says "Fuck it" and walked off stage
He still says it was worth it
That bloke is a complete and utter tool.
A fool and his money are soon parted.
Absolutely, I would do anything to see Lou even say fuck it!
1974, 18 years old, Rock and Roll Animal tour, and Lou was my man ever after. Thanks, Lou.
Ditto. My first Rock and Roll concert, Boston, 1974. Sublime.
Been applying to colleges in the area... Came across Syracuse and realized Lou Reed was an alumni. Safe to say I made my decision.
Lou was a brillant musician, great storyteller, gone but not forgotten my friend Lou.
👍👍👍 I love this Man!! Love from Switzerland special to Ukraine 🇺🇦
19 March 2020-- watching from home during the coronavirus crisis. You tell 'em, my friend!
Ditto.
27 march 2020... yes... go Quarantine!

Me too.
Same here. Stay safe and healthy.
Lou Reed had really amazing posture.
Did see Lou Reed six times between 1972 and 2007. The last concert was the Berlin tour, Just great!!
Best lou show i got to see was Cleveland. I wish i was there for this
Listening to to his Music there is (are) so many levels to the simplicity. The lyrics are simple, lyrical, political, humorous, existential.....so not simple but to the point on so many levels....I love his rhythm playing......I miss em.
In Oz we call it 'social isolation' for over 65 year olds like me. But there are many good sides to this like re-visiting my hippie past & the incredible musical renewal times we went through. Wow, wouldn't have want to miss it... so rich!
It's so great to see and hear the legendary Robert Quine (RIP). One of most underrated rock guitarists of all time. If you're a guitarist and you're reading this, go listen to everything he ever recorded. You won't be sorry. He was the master of the Stratocaster.
Please think of Rory even Jimmi sad that
And the debut of Richard Hell & The Voidoids is an essential LP elevated considerably by Quine's amazing work.
@@LaughingStock_ It's absolutely brilliant how Quine arranges the two guitar breaks in "Blank Generation." The first one is more composed, the second one is more primitive-exactly the opposite of what you're supposed to do. Therein lies his genius.
Steve Hunter and/or Dick Wagner smoke that guy
@@JuniorFarquar I don't think so! I've seen 'em all live.
ROCK AND ROLL WILL NEVER DIE
I guess I'm just dumb 'cause I knows I ain't smart
But deep down inside I got a rock 'n' roll heart
Yeah yeah yeah, deep down inside I got a rock 'n' roll heart...
I saw Lou in Verona (Italy) on this tour....classic.
I saw it on CZcams right now
me too
We were at the same place, bro. crazy!
wow I think remember
Robert Quine was one of the greatest guitar players of all time. RIP
Great outfit😎🖤
and a really nice guy
Unforgettable Lou Reed!
For some reason when I was in my twenties and younger, I never thought about seeing Lou Reed live. He's such a tremendous songwriter. He wrote so many great songs that got covered by Mott The Hoople, David Bowie and Iggy Pop. It's so great watching him play guitar. I was listening to "Rock and Roll Animal" today on CD and it sounded so good.
Pale Blue eyes!!!!!❤️❤️❤️🇨🇭
Saw Lou in 2006 Edinburgh playhouse
@@popatyourecords
That must have been amazing.
The great Lou Reed.
Lou Reed, the original punk rocker.
Kinda sorta. I'd have to say that Iggy is the Godfather of Punk while Lou (and Velvet Underground) is the Godfather of Grunge.
Iggy. Lou was more of a forerunner. Very innovative and some timeless tunes but Iggy is the the archetype.
When you say Iggy, please say The Stooges. The Asheton brothers and Dave Alexander
Oh ya , I'm an old buck still enjoying life and stout at 66 young ruff years, most ly good memories, but getting old sucks but we all have to deal with it and enjoy 👍
I'm down at the arcade , watching this !
Best Poet that ever lived. Poignant prose as relevant today as the day they were written.
Don't rest in peace, Lou. Keep playing the best rock & roll wherever you are...
IT IS ALRIGHT LOU
Lou is in a rare good mood, Robert Quine smiles and Fernando Saunders is himself - one of the great bassists. excellent show.
Great.. I do think this too
Very distinctive tone he has.
I agree, and I think the keyboardist is pretty good too. As for the drummer, I guess when you start out with Maureen Tucker it's all downhill after that. Seriously these songs don't require anything fancy on the drums, but it can be said Reed had a band with Hunter S. Thompson and John Cazale look-a-likes in it.
@@mdteletom1288 what's wrong with Lenny Ferrari? everybody seems to dislike his playing, I think he's very solid, that's all this music needs...
@@gillesbourgeois5348 I didn't say I disliked his playing. If you re-read it I was joking about Mo Tucker but I agreed with you his songs don't require any showy drumming.
Lou Gives the ambiance of the NY-Jersey-Philly area in rock music that makes me want to be right there in the city, maybe dreaming I'd get out of there one day, but not really wanting to.....like the early Springsteen and very few others. This is the music that makes me feel passion and nostalgia all wrapped up in neon lights reflecting off the puddles on the pavement on a crisp autumn night. Music is the best mode of traveling in the mind. Anyone relate to what I just shhhhhpewed out ? lol
@Burr Anderson OH, Burr...if you only knew! lol Thanks for the advice.
@Burr Anderson OH Burr, if you only knew! Lol Thanks for the advice.

A BRILLIANT MUSICIAN !
I was at this show. Went to college not too far from Passaic. An unknown rap group named Run DMC was the opening act. 8 songs were broadcast live on WNEW in New York. Great show! My ears rang for 3 days.
A lot of people in the audience had almost never heard rap, there was more than one act that opened for Lou. All New York rap.
..I was at the show too, it made an impression on me. I was 23.
WNEW (RIP) was amazing and had a brilliant crew of DJs.
bodeswell35 oh shut it you, don’t ruin this
bodeswell35 lol whatever anti semite
Then don't be a fucking bigoted moron. Bigots get in the mud like pigs. @bodeswell35
i was at this Concert at the Capital Theatre , i use to live in Passaic on Pennington Ave .
Ich liebte Lou Reed schon seit ich 16 war, heute bin ich 61 und sehe und höre seine Musik immer noch, mit großem Gefallen
Ich liebe ihn auch seit ich 16 Jahre alt war. Bin jetzt 65. Wir wurden in der geilsten Zeit geboren. Habe ihn zum erstenmal live in Harlem NY gesehen. Liebe auf den ersten Blick!! Wir sind Glückspilze! RIP Lou. ❤️❤️🇨🇭
In French...
I love when he added that bass player with that funky dry sound. It really his songs pop. Almost a Jaco Pastorius effect.
I miss you Lou Reed!
many good memmories back in the seventies listening his music, still enjoying hiw music and his voice..
Deeply touching. Incredible performance.
Yesssssss!!! ❤️🇨🇭
This gotta be one of the best concerts ever.. everlasting.. never dies..pure art work..paints its own picture..
ONE OF MY ALL TIME FAVORITE CONCERT VIDEOS. Great band behind Lou , all of them contributing greatness.
There has never been, and never again will be, a songwriter who so fully explored the chords D Major and G Major.
Saw the lineup that was part of the ‘A Rock’n’Roll Animal’ live album in South Australia with a very raw AC/DC as support (pre-Bon Scott). Steve Hunter on guitar, Prakash John on bass, Pennti Glann on drums. Awesome show. Lou with bleach blond hair, aviators, black leather peaked cap, leather pants and jacket and white tee shirt. They were the business.
Lucky man. I would have loved to see that tour.
Those We're The Days 🎶
Esistono filmati di rock n' roll animal e di American Poet?
I wish Peti Glann was on this... that open hi hat in every downbeat is distracting.
Lou Reed is sadly missed. He wrote about subjects nobody else would. Venus in Furs, Dirty Boulevard, Street Hasel.Love his interviews with the press. Love album Animal Seronade brilliant live , nothing up these sleeves , no tapes or loops. Great live. Nobody yet has taken your place.
The version of Street Hassle from the AS album is amazing! ✌️
Lou is the best!
Too of the pinnacle of rock!
BRAVO CHANTELLS
Lou Reed is a contemporary poet, an intellectual and a rock start, at least
Thank You! RIP Mr. Lou Reed
80's Lou Reed....KILLER!
The album Rock and Roll Animal is one of the greatest works of music ever recorded. Lou Reed was obviously a genius and his entire career is a gift to humanity.
Rock and Roll Animal is exactly that, certainly top 10 album of all time, live or studio. For sheer raw energy and drive, hard to top and those left & right guitar solos, wow.
This concert is bloody great too, and the lady who introduces it is a treat to watch flaunt off stage !
also live take no prisoners is amazing ... it really puts you in lou's speed addled mind
Yes and thanks to Steve Hunter too
I think it was in 85 when I took a drive with some buddy’s from s. Jersey up to The Capital theatre. I saw Exodus, Testament and Anthrax. Those were the days. Loooouuuu you are the man!!
The great urban poet, Lou Reed.
" He's never early , he's always late " !! .....Too true !!
Oh, my God, yes. My “man” is always late.
Thank God we have this to watch and remind us what a jem we had n lost . RIP Lou

R.I.P. Lou, we all love you so much.
Lou Read is one of the most underrated artists ever.
Good Things, like GooD ArtisTs are not for the Masses! Let's Be Happy that We Know Lou Reed, haha . . .
No he is not underrated. Overrated is the word you looking for i believe. There is a difference you know.
@@svenzia he 's an artist, a true legend, not under neither over, he never should be rated, but liked, that's all
!
Always loved Lou Reed and The Velvet Underground, but in the pantheon of amazing musicians and artists who have never been able to scratch 2 cents together, or have the luck of being acquainted with great promoters or other great musicians to go somewhere with their career, I'd say, 'definitely not over-rated'. Lots of great artists out there who nobody will ever regard, and frankly, Sir Lou was a bit high on himself and lousy with fans.
Oh stop it. Nothing more annoying and tiresome on YT than the generic "underrated" opine. He's one of the more revered artists of his time and genre. Legions of fans and admiring musicians around the globe. Give it a rest.
Lou Reed was brilliant. There's so much power and intensity in his guitar playing and singing.
Lou Reed at his very best! 👍👍👍👍👍👍
Saw Lou and 74 Milwaukee Halloween great show rock ‘n’ roll animal tour and then saw them and 75 in May in Madison totally different show did some new songs eventually were on Coney Island baby that was a fantastic show. Rest in peace.

Thank you!!! Very useful. Nice work.
The version of Street Hassle played here is almost comical the way the tune is played and his vocal delivery. So much more upbeat than the subject matter of the song. Lou was quite the character and he definitely looks to be having a lot of fun during this show.

Robert Quine - the Hunter S. Thompson of Guitar! Why I loved the 80s.
I discovered Lou reed at age 43. Lou, wherever you are. You're the best man, the best. See you in the next life.
I never get tired of watching this
Lou Reed felt the style like no one else. The way he sang can hardly be called singing. Almost all of his songs sound like prose stories. That's why I love him.
I always said about Lou Reed that he was a terrible singer, but a fantastic vocalist.
A poet that sings. RIP Lou.
More reality in Lou's song than pretty much anyone ...
Agreed. But! Some of his work with VU is really nice. Loaded especially
@@jonjones820 Doug Yule sang lead vocals on half or more of Loaded. Lou is one of my fave all time regardless. One thing he could do proper that Dylan never really did (Dylan is my fave all time artist), is compassion.
