      The planners of the Ukrainian Armed Forces have shown themselves to be present clever, now that you’ve suggested it, I’m wondering if that is exactly what they have been doing. They’ve definitely spent a lot of time talking about how they’re going to destroy the bridge and regain Crimea, maybe disinformation to support the exact feint you’re talking about. Diverting SAM coverage to the bridge allows for weaker coverage in other areas, which would help the F-16s to provide ground support in other areas. The more I type this, the more I think you’re onto something…

      What do you think will take down" the Kerch bridge?
      No actual weapon system has the capability to do actually long-term damage, not one!
      They can poke some little holes in it but not damaging it systemically, so that it's out of work for month or even years.

    • @Mwwwwwwwwe
      @Mwwwwwwwwe Před 25 dny +8

      @teardrop-in-a-fishbowl a few 1 ton jdams clustered every 500meters could easily destroy the bridge and its supports. The bridge wouldn't be repaired before the war ends

      @teardrop-in-a-fishbowl Před 25 dny +2

      @@Mwwwwwwwwe Yeah, it's all so easy if you play it out in your head.
      By the way, to exchange the driveways it doesn't take more than a few month for several segments.
      If you don't damage the bridge pillars significantly, which are build to withstand earthquakes above 6,5 (if I remember correctly), the bridge can be repaired "fast" (like the last time). The construction, the concept, of the bridge is pretty good. Not that the Germans build it. lol

      Not sure... those in a position in Russia to take power if Putin were to "be retired" aren't any better men (some are even quite crazier) and they would inherit a broken country. Not sure they would want to deal with the mess of going back to a peace time economy right away or even at all (wars are very good to remain in power).
      Even if it were to be reaosnable people who were to take power, I would expect some secret peace negotiation to take place as those people would try to get maybe a return to the january 2022 situation and keep a hold on Crimea, which Ukraine would reject probably along its western allies. Understanding that giving up Crimea without a fight is out of the question if they want to stay in power, those new russian leaders would have to keep the war going, mostly until an opportunity presents itself to get out of it with their head high and the support of the russian population.
      That or someone extremely naive is put as president of Russia, ends the war, loses Crimea and takes the fall for the others (probably tried, imprisoned or even executed right away as a traitor to the russian state). But at least the others who used the guy could go back to business as usual without having to be brought down by the war.
      My point is, it's not that easy to end a war.
      And Putin is actually probably the best person to sell a narrative of russian victory while taking his troops out of Ukraine.

    • @branjosnow6244
      @branjosnow6244 Před 26 dny

      The goal is to dissolve the Russian state, not just collapse it. If Putin gets killed tomorrow, all the sanctions will still remain in place, until sovereign nations declare their independence, and break up Putin's crumbling empire.
      Or in 20 years they'll just try all this again.

    are they prepping for the bridge to be knocked out so it can't be used bye troops to be moved back safely to Russia to stop the Kursk incursion.? Pushing them more inland and thus more vulnerable to attacks when they re on the roads?

    This is a very, very interesting report for many reasons. Thanks for bringing this one in Suchomimus.
    Seems apparent the Ukrainians have the Russians having to run all over the place, shifting assets and troop strengths in a bewildered fashion.
    If I were Ukrainian leadership, I'd keep playing the long game, and would not remove my foot from the gas pedal.
    I of course won't engage here regarding any theories or battlefield designs that may or may not be underway however even if they could be deduced, I'm really not sure at this time they could be stopped.
    Follow up should be interesting for this, and I'll be looking forward to your findings. Have a great evening.

    I think i I understand the ironic part. The pantsirs would have been able to protect the bridge had Ukraine used a missile with payload capable of doing serious damage bu it was completely unable to defend itself from fpv drones

    The picture in the video is not a Pantsir-S1. It's a 2S9 Tunguska anti-aircraft vehicle.

      An apt choice of name after the Tunguska event that was a large explosion of between 3 and 50 megatons that occurred near the Podkamennaya Tunguska River in Yeniseysk Governorate (now Krasnoyarsk Krai), Russia, on the morning of 30 June 1908 - probably caused by an air-burst stony meteor explosion.

    Pantsir's main weakness is the person designating targets and the mix of rockets chosen. Swarm attacks coordinated with fast rockets are one vulnerability... the operator isn't quick enough or the rockets miss the incoming. In Syria they waited for the units to be covered with their sand protective tarps, then could take them out. Its positive is the ability to operate stand-alone, linked to a command Pantsir, or to a command post. Of course, if you take out the command unit, the rest are vulnerable until a switch-over is made. The cab is armored on many but that doesn't help if the launcher is hit. I'm wondering when Ru will deploy their artic Pantsirs.

    With antiradiation missiles and the powerful data integration systems on the F16, that yellow radar antenna on the Pantsir might just as well be a bullseye.

    That is an unusual variant of the Pantsir you chose to show at the end of the video. I am not a defence expert, so I have to go by Wikipedia, and according to that page, Russia has so far not fielded a tracked version (outside a special arctic model) of the Pantsir.

    • @longforgotten4823
      @longforgotten4823 Před 26 dny +1

      I’ve seen arctic systems being used on the left bank since around the liberation of Kherson. Same time Ukraine began targeting air defenses there on mass.

      Russia has something of a habit of bolting the missile system/gun/etc to whatever chassis. The one in the video looks like an upgraded Tunguska but with more launchers.

    I was thinking that maybe UA is deliberately not targeting the bridge itself to keep the SAMs in the area? surely once the bridge goes down the SAMs will be freed up to go elsewhere to other undesireable locations (from UA's perspective). just a thought
