  • This is the new KZ Castor Silver, I purchased the IEM, under the impression that I was buying a product in new condition, not opened and shottily repackaged.
I payed almost full retail value on these as well.
So I expected to get a brand new product.
Which as you can see in the video, isn't quite brand new.

You should get the castor bass, that iem is fantastic! Like $12 it’s mind blowing, they could sell it for $40-60. Fantastic soundstage and imaging too.

Yeah I have it as well now, I have both Castor's now, and actually kinda prefer the Silver, a little more treble and upper mid extension, although they're exactly the same in the build, other than the crossover, which changes the tuning.

I think it's absolutely shameful for a company to pass off a used item as new. Unfortunately, it's not the first time I've heard of this happening. I've avoided this experience so far with the stores I've purchased from but this serves as a reminder that it might not always be the case. If you're able to open a dispute and receive a refund I think it's worth checking into. I know this model isn't a high priced item but what they did is wrong and they should be held accountable. No doubt they will continue to do the same thing as long as can get away with it. Anyway, I'm sorry you had to encounter this firsthand.

It may or may not have been customs, like other people have suggested, since there appeared to be no tampering or resealing of the bag it was packed in.
Surely, if customs had cut the bag open, to inspect the package, there would have been evidence of that, which I could not see when I looked at the bag it was shipped in, which says to me, it was shipped like it arrived.

@@AudioReviewsDownunder I'm inclined to agree with you. I really can't see a logical reason why customs would open the contents of a package once they could easily identify what it was, anyway. Perhaps the possibility can't be completely eliminated but I think it's much more likely for the store to be the cause. It's sad because they probably rely on such doubts to continue operating in the same way. Many reputable businesses want to make things right when a customer is dissatisfied (sometimes even when it's not their fault). If this seller values their customers in the same way I think they should be willing to offer a replacement since it was tampered with during shipping.

This happens a lot in the states from Amazon. That’s what happens when people return iems constantly like they are trying them on to see which they like the most.

Yeah maybe hey, they could have been a set that was sent back, but then I shouldn't be paying full price for an open box either.

Probably a customs check mate. Customs open and check random items

    • @AudioReviewsDownunder
      @AudioReviewsDownunder  Před 8 měsíci

Maybe, but the bag it was shipped in didn't appear to be opened at all, it was still sealed.

@@AudioReviewsDownunder customs reseal it mate. I have had it happen with me. As much as I hate KZ, I think so you should ask KZ and see what they say.

My first set of IEM's from the big "A" here in USA were sold to me as new and were open box....Ugh! Thank goodness the worked and sound great. Got a bunch coming from
Ali from 11/11. Been lucky so far..... Got both the bass and regular Casters, they sound pretty good for the price.

Yeah they do sound very good for the price.
The Castor BASS arrive in the original sealed package.
As has everything else, besides the Castor Silver I have ever bought from AliExpress.
And I've been purchasing from AliExpress for 3+ years now.

Yep happened to me 3 times from Amazon. Always expensive sets too. Fiio fh9, timeless ae and Olina (they sent me the og rather than the se AND it was used). I kept them all because they were all perfectly fine and I didn’t feel like dealing with it. Just busted out the iso and cleaned them. I don’t use stock tips.

They could have put it back together as it was at least.

You need to receive a discount should you decide to keep it and a full refund if you return it, which is what I would do. I’ll be curious to find out how the seller handles this. If they choose to do nothing, you can always file a credit card fraud report with your bank. You’ll get your money back that way, it just takes awhile. And you need documentation, which this video will help with. It may not be a lot of money, but it’s the freakin principle that matters more. Don’t let them get away with it. Good luck.

Another comment has already said it, but I have also had an IEM checked by customs and resealed, but the product was basically brand new otherwise.

There was no evidence that I could see that the bag it was shipped in, had been opened and resealed at all.
I had a good look at the bag myself, because I thought maybe it was customs, but I couldn't see any evidence that the bag had ever been opened and resealed at all.
