Schalk Brits to no8 isn’t even the biggest move. He has been moved out to wing multiple times as well in the past.
Also, Pierre Spies played wing all his life until they realised that his size can be better utilised at no8

Re your request for Part Two nominations…
I’ve always felt that open side flanker and inside centre are very similar roles in open play, so the Sam Burgess experiment never seemed as outrageous to me as so many others made out. Come to think of it, I think Bath had him at blindside, not open, but still the centre partnership of Burgess and Slade I thought was phenomenal. But as I recall England tried it once in a RWC warm-up game then never again. A massive wasted opportunity in my view.

There was some position shuffling for Wales on the 2009 North America tour, in particular the second test v the USA. With 14 players on tour with the B&I Lions in South Africa, injuries picked up in the Dragons Heineken Cup playoff the week before, plus Bradley Davies and Chris Czekaj being injured the week before against Canada, it was very much a skeleton squad,
In the first minute Ryan Jones picked up a nasty head knock, but continued playing for another 20 minutes before being removed (ominous given his recent announcement). He was replaced by Sam Warburton (making his debut). Later in the first half, Sowden-Taylor went down with a hamstring injury, meaning that Richard Hibbard came on at blindside and played around 50 minutes there. Midway through the second half, Tom James picked up an injury, meaning that Gareth Cooper had to play on the wing scoring a try in the process.
It was an interesting tour with Warburton and Jonathan Davies making their debut. Dan Evans picking up his only caps. Teenage Dan Biggar playing a few games before disappearing into the international wilderness for a few seasons.

Nice one again Mr Forde loved it, 1 critique tho if I’m allowed was looking for Johnny May nigh on bottom of a maul he was on top of a front row and when the front row realised who was on top of him gave our Johnny a well done pat on the face I laffed out loud cos the big lunk covered our Johnny’s face completely. I don’t think anyone realises the sheer size of the lads in the scrum. Cheers fella

Kolbe obviously is lacking size to play in the midfield but he's suited for every other backline position and there's no doubt about it.
Scrumhalves playing on the wing is not too rare, Hougaard probably played at 14 more times than at 9 for Wasps.

I get sometimes you have to put players in positions due to yellow/red cards, I really do. But why oh why would you put Marcus Smith at Flanker? I like Marcus but he probably weighs as much as Tom Curry's leg? Surely there was a better alternative than him at Flanker.

At 5m scrums, Northampton would put Taqele Naiyaravoro at first receiver to run straight at the opponents fly-half. Quins identified this so put a flanker there rather than have a 6ft5, 132kg man run straight over Marcus Smith - it proved successful :)
