My V2 was decked out with all the upgrades like the foam padding, the stubby and iFlight HD patch antennas, detachable analog module, etc.. A great unit for sure and has been a workhorse. However, I’ve been using the G2 more and more these days for one main reason, it’s very light compared to the V2. The V2 is just too heavy for my face, I get tired wearing it after 2 flights. But hey, that’s just me. I can still use the V2 if I need to or use it as a spectator goggle or maybe I can sell it.

DJI have made the V2 too good and they hate it now so they get rid of it. Basically the OG system works with all of the DJI goggles but apparently they have made a firmware that the V2, Integra and goggles 2 purposely are not compatible with each other. I'm pretty sure they would work with each other because the DJI video protocol is still the same and all of the goggles work with this DJI video protocol. Otherwise the V2 would stand in the way of the Integra sales because the V2 is cheaper and more allround.
The V2 can also be used as analog goggles as well and the video quality of the V2 is still very good compared to the Integra or goggles 2.
The range of the V2 with improved antenna's is better than the Integra and goggles 2 as well.

Also, I'd take the Goggles V2 anytime because of WTFOS. No matter what, but open source is king. Though not because of DJI. Furthermore, analog in provides decent analog flying options for some. Can the Goggles 2 even do video out via USB?

Quick question Ian, I have two problems with my V2 goggles and the o3 air unit. First of all I can't record any dvr at all. With a regular SanDisk card. I then got the black V30 SanDisk extreme pro with and even with that one it's not possible to record dvr. Oddly enough with the gopro 11 I record 10bit 200mbits 5k30 and 4k60 how is it possible that the 810p120 dvr can't be written on it?
    2. When flying the osd freezes usually around 2-3min after Liftoff. On top of that when i reboot the drone it doesn't help at all. When i unplug then plug the goggles usually it will work again. But even then a couple of times I have to unplug plug the Copter too because even though I can see the osd I have strangely enough only 5mbps as if it's in low power mode.
I know especially this second part sounds confusing maybe you or someone else can help me with it.

After watching your video (great presentation by the way, thanks for doing it) I decided I needed to find another Goggles V2 to back up my existing goggles. Almost too late, but I did find a refurbished pair on Amazon. Got them and they seem fine, except that I cannot activate the goggles with the DJI Assistant 2. They connect to my DJI FPV Drone OK, but the goggles display the message “Device not activated”. DJI Assistant 2 connects to them and allows firmware changes but never displays the “Activate” screen. I assume this is because the goggles have been activated by the previous owner. IS THERE ANY WAY I CAN ACTIVATE THESE GOGGLES WHICH HAVE ALREADY BEEN ACTIVATED BY A PREVIOUS OWNER?

@@MadRC I am using the app called "DJI Assistant 2 (DJI FPV Series)". I had no problems connecting to the used pair of V2 goggles I just bought with this app, and I was able to update the firmware on the goggles. However, there is supposed to be a popup for "activate" and this never populated. Actually, other than the annoying message which says "Device not activated", I seem to be getting video OK from the FPV drone, so maybe the answer is to just ignore the message.

    • @joenaylor34
      @joenaylor34 Před rokem +1

In case anyone else has this problem, here is the solution. It turns out the correct app to "activate" in this case is NOT the "DJI Assistant 2 (DJI FPV Series). It is the "DJI Fly" app. After I connected to this app and went though the steps I am no longer getting the "Device not Activated" message.

time to get all the parts that you might miss later when they have broken cause spare parts are the key issue for all older goggles, not the tech itself which is still working fine like the Goggles Racing edition from 2018 , those red ones.
But cameras and air units are long gone, also the diopter lenses you might need if you do not wann wear glasses.
And this means to hurry and safe all the parts you might need and right now not sometimes in the future.
    Why ?
Prices will go only one way: up
And if you have more spares than you might need in the next 2 years then you will also get the prices in 2 years for your still unused spare parts cause for brand new parts in the box people always pay a premium, especially in sealed packages. Therefore better to get what you might ever need and later sell those parts separately after you have sold the goggles cause these parts can become worth a fortune compared to the now low prices if you can get them in the next month or so cause dealers will offer discounts soon once DJI declares a no longer sold or eol anouncement.
You can check this for all goggles dji had released, always the same pattern of the prices and spare parts cause they will sell out sometime.

I don't have money to be dropping on fpv goggles every time the company comes out with a new one. It appears to me that no one is ever satisfied 😅fly your shit and be happy.
