      +NetPro khan That time India was divided in to more than 400 small states ruled by Kings, every one was hving some score to settle with the other. Now it is united through democratic elected govt. And prior to it read the history of Maharaja Ranjit Singh, who defeated many powerful Pathan invaders badly. Now Britain will not even think to attack India.

      To count it all up and not get betrayed by one by the other. Only fight for the sake of ALLAH (god), in this you will never get betrayed, and you will achieve reward. Fighting for created things is foolish at even sight and you can get betrayed since creation is imperfect, while creator is 100% perfect.

      You're more than welcome to learn about Sikh way without needing to convert. In fact, the only conversion we have is when one voluntarily takes the initiation ceremony to become a Khalsa. Vast majority of Sikhs are not member of Khalsa and didn't undergo any formal initiation/conversion of sorts. Visit YT Channel called "Nanak Naam". It's a good one for a western audience.

    A Sikh will be the first to save a humans life. I remember in Brampton Ontario Canada I was driving and approached a traffic stop. A car zoomed across and jumped the curb and crashed into a wall. The man apparently had a heart problem and could not stop his car. I ran out of my car to assist the man. Soon as I approached I noticed he was a Sikh man and regardless of his body injured and clenching his chest due to a heart attack, he said "please get my turban it fell off". I got it and placed it respectfully on his chest. Medics arrived. The man was saved and alive.

    • @balrajsingh78
      @balrajsingh78 Před 8 lety +9

      Buddy.. I agree with most of what you said. . Sikhs haven't thrown out those who chose to not wear a turban or cut their hair. But that's all it is.. a choice people made. I'm replying to your message to say that such tolerance in our religion shouldn't be confused with what the rule is. The un-cut hair & the Turban are crucial to a practicing Sikh's identity.
      But again I agree with you that this gentleman did exactly what the religion preaches.. that is to help other human being. Thousands of Sikhs sacrificed their lives for others.. I'm glad there still are some who carry on that tradition.

    • @milkweedsage
      @milkweedsage Před 8 lety

      thank you so much for your input! if someone has cut hair, but has all the other sikh items (example, the metal bangle), what is your leaders' response? are they frowned on because of the hair, or are they fine, it's a choice?

    • @balrajsingh78
      @balrajsingh78 Před 8 lety +1

      +milkweedsage Well.. the answer to that question is becoming more and more irrelevant. We still preach in our Gurdwaras every day the importance of the five articles of faith. Our youth however.. often consider fashion more important than the tradition. Then there are others who feel that they have to look like others to be accepted in the society. Then sadly there are those who are misguided and feel that the five articles of faith are not so relevant anymore.
      The religious authorities seem to have lost this battle. Yet have not set the best example for the youth and this has lead to a constant deterioration in our values and respect for the religion overall. That however is probably the case with all religions.

      i strongly suspect that's true. i know very few religious young people. those who are religious, are for the most part pagan. the other families i know who have devout parents have kids that exhibit some kinds of turning away from the religion. for example, my sikh friend wears a turban, but his son does not. from what i can gather, the son never has. i haven't asked him why because it's not really my business, but when we were kids i had always assumed that his kids would follow tradition. his son has short hair.
      mind you i can't point fingers. for the first 10 years of life i was in an atheist household and then a christian one til i was 18. despite still having near 100% christian family, the only religions that make any sense to me are buddhism and midewewin. i don't know enough about sikhism :)

      +milkweedsage Sadly that's why a lot of us don't understand enough about religions other than our own. We are to afraid of asking the question. I find that questions are better than generalisations.. something we are all very good at.

      Religion is to blame because it teaches values and creates culture. Some cultures are more peaceful than others, some teaches we're all valuable, some that we're not. Islam teaches that you're only worth something if you follow Quran and if you don't, you'll be punished in this life and the after life. In other words islamic ideology creates a culture of hate, finger pointing and fear. That's why it has never really worked anywhere and it never will. Muslims can't even get along with each other, that's how intolerant environment Quran creates. And yes, I've read it.
