- It was time to incroporate some earthy terracotta colors for this fluid art blowout on an 16 X 20 canvas. I love the composition of this piece and the unintentional layering of the gold and terracotta at the bottom of the painting that gives this a color shift illusion. This is part 3 of a series using Southwest colors, so more to come! Let me know your opinion in the comments, and thanks for watching!

THE RECIPE:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG MultiPro in Satin from Home Depot.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe's). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added!
Use the colors and brands of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix:
Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium.
Any brand fluid or high flow acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint, I added an 1/2 ounce of paint (1/2 teaspoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol + Amsterdam Lamp Black 2.5 -1 ratio Floetrol to paint.

So beautiful ❤️
I live in the Southwest and you absolutely nailed it with this color palette! It is absolutely stunning. I agree with a previous comment that this may be my favorite deconstructed bloom of yours 😊
Stunning Karen❤
Karen really beautiful 🎉 I love how the gold shimmers in the change of light that was so awesome! I’m also very excited to hear that you’re finally going to do some deconstructed blooms. I know that you deconstruct them but it’s when you take three and turn them into an amazing landscape that I am just over the moon and love with them, I can’t wait for you to do that. Thank you. By the way, I’m one of the people that asked you if you could do it again. Because I truly am going through withdrawal it’s been a while.❤❤❤
Beautiful 🩵💛💜
Gorgeous
STUNNING🎉🎉🎉
Love it!!
I can not tell why but this one is probably my favorite of yours in the past 1 or 2 years. And God knows how much I love your paintings... What a beautiful color combination and the outcome on the composition is amazing. This negative space is incredible and brings this paiting to another level. Wow wow wow....
Wow, thank you! 😊 ❤️

My husband's son and I went to the Grand canyon last summer I had to drive my niece over to live in California My husband and son met me out there and we drove back together and went to the Grand canyon Bryce canyon we saw the grand staircase Moab Zion if you ever get to do scenic route 12 it starts at Bryce canyon it's amazing. I actually have a Grand canyon idea myself but it's a little different than what I usually do. I'm actually going to make a working model of a Grand canyon give or take we'll see how it turns out but over months what starts out as semi flat with water running over it hopefully will erode making a canyon and exposing a different layers of colors and types of rock like the Grand canyon it's going to be a small desktop fountain. We'll see how it goes. Love your work love these colors but they're making me want to get some southwestern food! Your paintings always make me hungry so what's up with that? Jk no really I am going to go get myself a taco bowl now lol I'll let you know if I make a mess like I did the catch up and mustard on Instagram
I want a taco!!!🌮

Karen, I haven’t been watching your videos for sometime now, since your vocals are not very audible for me anymore. I have mentioned it before and you tried to do some adjustments but for me it just got worse. I love your work and the outcome of all your pieces but I like hearing what you’re saying but can’t anymore. I can’t believe I’m the only one that can’t hear you. But besides all that I noticed this and another one from this series and they are really beautiful. You do really have an eye for these colors and such talent for making them work. I miss watching your videos.
Hi Kathy! I’m really sorry you can’t hear my videos!! I haven’t had anyone else complain ever since I bought a wireless microphone. Have you tried watching on another device such as your TV? Otherwise I’m stumped and sad. -K
Clear audio here, always..👍
