Happy New Year!! Good grief do I love art with a hairdryer! Watch this big bloom blowout on a 20X24 canvas! This new color palette was introduced during my live NYE bash; but I knew I had to do it again in my studio. I absolutely love these colors together and while I meant to discontruct this, it turned into a deconstructed landscape instead by paying attention to what I saw in the blown out puddle and tilting accordingly to tease out the composition. I really love it!

THE RECIPE:
House Paint-base aka puddle for the substrate: PPG Multi-Pro in Satin at Home Depot.
Pouring Medium aka PM Recipe: mix with all colors EXCEPT the cell activator:
Behr 8300 Untinted Deep Base Paint (Home Depot); and Valspar High Gloss Ultra Base C Untinted base (Lowe's). 50/50. Mix well. NO varnish added!
Use the colors of your choice! These tutorials are meant to educate and inspire! Here's how to mix:
Pigments: For a 3 oz cup I add 1/4 to 1/2 teaspoon of pigment powder to the cup, then add enough gloss varnish (any brand; I use JoSonja gloss varnish) to cover the powder. Mix well until all pigment is thoroughly wet; then add the pouring medium.
Any brand fluid or high flow acrylics: I put about 2-2 1/2 ounces of the pouring medium into a 3 ounce cup, then squirt in color until I reach my desired shade. Mix well.
For tube paint, I added an ounce of paint (heaping tablespoon) to a 3 ounce cup, then added 2 ounces of pouring medium. If still thick I add a squirt of Golden's High Flow Medium (thins and extends acrylic colors) and stir well. All pigments are 1/8th tsp. pre-disbursed with a small amount of JoSonja Varnish to wet it (stir really well), then add into a 3 oz. cup of Pouring Medium; stir well.
Cell Activator/Color: Australian Floetrol + TriArt Carbon Black and Titanium White . 2.5 -1 ratio Floetrol to paint.

You are truly talented! Your color pallets, fantastic. I love the blow out here. And, I have to say, on your New Years Eve painting that you didn't like, I LOVED! The center, the texture with the lace cracking, looks planned. The off center asymmetrical swirl, is so different from so much of the work I have seen, it attracts the eyes to view the entirety of the painting, to follow all the lines, top to bottom. Personally, I would put a coat of clear resin on it, that would give, for you, the smoother feeling, but yet leave the texture that was created by extra paint. You are AMAZING!

This is a beautiful landscape painting. I could see some birds painted on it in the large white between the purples. Do this after it’s dry. And maybe a tree. Love it. ❤

I did watch the entire video. Karen is always asking us to tell her what we think. I didn't like the color combo...didn't say I didn't like the paintiing or Karen's work. Who's aggressiive? That painting wasn't even the NYE painting.
