I like how this farm was too easy so you made it harder with the floating water
That was the norm, until they fixed ice melting. You just made the bottom from ice, waited for it to melt, and then removed the support blocks. It was super easy. Now you have to do this piston thing.
cool idea : Make a squid head on top of the farm so that the water sources make the tentacules of the squid !
Good idea, they can just build the sides without a roof to still have good rates
they already made that kind of farm years ago. :)

5 minutes to design a farm, many hours to design a huge flex to go along with it.

i love how they're never going to need to run the farm again and ilmango still goes back to do the update suppression

LOL, for a second when they were doing the bottom of the farm I was thinking, “What the hell? They didn’t spawnproof it!“

So we just farmed enough materials to last forever and now I'm fixing the farm up we don't need anymore
ilmango could seriously make a Farm for everything, He might have an Air Block Farm somewhere in his private Creative world
And yet, he’ll probably even come out with a more efficient air block farm with each passing update
Air was an item in one snapshot of 1.9, so it should be possible to get it just like he got bedrock in Scicraft

One of the simpler squid farms I've seen. Probably also has similar rates to some of the more complex ones.

It's a really simple design, and technically you could even turn it off using dispensers (unless you want the update-suppressed water at the bottom).
I'm surprised how small it can be and still achieve these rates.

Ender fruit farm! is usefull to fall to the ground when you're way up in the sky, like in case you use the rocket and you arrived to the destination but you're still 5k blocks in the air (?)
You take the full fall damage though, ender pearls are much more useful. (Sidenote, they're called chorus fruit)
Can confirm fall damage for free fall and an eletry trajectory that is deadly, but if you are gliding such that you basically come to a rest, it doesn't kill you, basically pretend to land mid air and eat and you are safe. Done in 3min of testing in 1.16.3 and 1.12.2
@@andreaaristokrates9516 I wouldn't risk it, it's not worth the risk. Just glide/fall straight down until you're at around a y 150
Does it teleport you when you're 5k block away from the ground ?
@@themonsieurmonsieur7629 it teleports when you are 99k over the ground, I just tped to 100k and fell for 1k to test, pretty sure it works for all intents and purposes infinitely

I feel like this episode was really well edited with the timelapse of the update suppression, and the other sequences, continue like that it was awesome
Now the farm is perfect.... at least for our purposes. Why do I feel that he's somewhat disappointed with himself for not making a farm that produces at least 25,000 ink sacs per hour?

I have no business being subscribed to this channel. I don't think i have ever placed a line of redstone in my life and the most complex thing i've built is a bubble elevator but the things you build are just incredible and here i find myself on a squid farm with the most gigantic flex a squid farm could have.
OMG yesss I knew it. Squid have their own mob cap. I have no idea where I've heared that, but my brain was so conflicted when you said fish take their mobcap

btw this farm can be functional with one water and one hopper if you don’t want to invest time.... still provides plenty of ink when given time!

the farm looks like a domino piece trying to be very extra
I followed your old tutorial for building a squid farm once and it was so much work placing all the sugar cane and everything. So it's good to know that these farms can be built so much simpler now!
The tips about the size of the farm and the AFK-spot are also really useful as it means you don't have to find a really large section of the river and drain everywhere around it, ruining the landscape.

Villager trading isn't the most thrilling task but you're right I suppose that is an easy method to get it

Noticed something while watching, really interesting to see ilmango actually collecting the blocks that he breaks in the timelapses. For his other SciCraft timelapses, there's always hundreds/thousands of items left behind due to their renewability.

I did not know you could freeze water like that. I now have the full idea of a water squid build and the water can look like tentacles with a few other block pallets.

That floating water is not update suppressed. Instead, it is floating because of a glitch with sticky pistons when they are trying to retract a lot of slime blocks or honey blocks. If they exceed the push limit, or an unmoveable block obstructs the slime, the sticky piston heads do not update anything.

That is such a good flex
Idea, make the columns half as tall but have twice as many. That way you keep the same number of spawning spaces but squid that don’t exit the column and flow down it will fall out the bottom faster on average. I’d expect the rates to be slightly higher.

Hey Mango, not sure if you’re already doing this but would it be a good idea to trade emeralds for redstone with clerics? You guys have a good supply of emeralds so maybe it’d be a good substitute for a witch farm

The biggest flex I've ever seen
so I was using the waterlogged signs design and the farm was pretty much broken as of 1.18. redid the water columns in this manner and it's working again. maybe they no longer spawn inside waterlogged things or at least the rate is severley reduced.

You can make a semi afk diamond farm by leveling up armorers then buying the 4 pieces of armor and smelt the armor for diamonds
