  • Vic talks us through the first flight, with his recommendations and best practices. Sunday we will record another video performing an actual first flight in the RV-10. There will be airborne video.

Great video Vic. Thanks for sharing this! I'll be referring to it when I'm closer to the first flight in my RV-14A.

Great video series Vic. I'm a couple years out from my RV-10 first flight, but really enjoyed these. Good, practical advice for someone who will be doing this for the first time. Thanks for putting them together and your other videos too!

Totally agree with your "No Chase Plane" concept. I cannot express how frustrating it is to mentally evaluate an abnormal situation while someone in the background is vocalizing their opinion & playing PIC other than you. As always - it’s another learning day at Base Leg Aviation. Thanks Carol & Vic..!

Excellent series of videos, Carol (and Vic)! I like that you address the mental side of the first flight. With good transition training the physical side should be automatic. If it's not, then I'd recommend more training. Making sure you are mentally ready for the flight is really helpful. I "chair flew" my first flight 100 times at least, plus spent a lot of time in a VR simulator going through emergency scenarios. While I do recall my first solo, like everyone, my first flight in my RV-8 was very special and rewarding. Please keep the videos coming!
