Complete Farm Animals Guide [Birds, Rabbits, Chickens, Cows, Llamas] | The Sims 4 Cottage Living

This guide will look into how to care for all of the different farm animals as well as all of their key gameplay features. And of course, it will look at how ever treat impacts on farm animals as well, with many of the treats having different effects on chickens, cows and llamas. There is an incredible amount of gameplay brought in through these animals in the pack.
Treat Ingredients:
Animal Party Treat: 1 x Any Mushroom + 1 x Any Berry
Chocolatey Treat: 1 x Custard + 1 x Chocoberry
Fishy Protein Treat: 1 x Any Fish
Flirty Treat: 1 x Strawberry Jam + 1 x Sugar
Friendly Treat: 1 x Any Fruit OR Any Vegetable
Fruity Treat: 1 x Apple Jam + 1 x Blueberry Jam
Golden Treat: 1 x Golden Egg + 1 x Cowberry Jam OR Cowberry Honey
Healthy Treat: 1 x Any Fruit OR Any Vegetable + 1 x Lettuce
Midnight Treat: 1 x Obsidian Egg + 1 x Cowberry Jam
Pumpkin Treat: 1 x Sugar + 1 x Any Pumpkin
Rainbow Treat: 1 x Blue Egg + 1 x Orange Egg + 1 x Green Egg
Spicy Treat: 1 x Spicy Mushroom + 1 x Any Vegetable

I love that they gave us the ability to knit the animal clothing ourselves. Also, if you do befriend a fox, it will chase the other foxes from the lot. I had one that was very aggressive in defending our lot.

@@hazousworld6875 It happened in my game when the fox I befriended was on the lot and another fox came around. I couldn't control him but if he was there, he would chase other foxes.

I've never even thought of that! I'd really enjoy being able to do that.
If you have level ten handiness skill you can instant upgrade your farm buildings without needing those animal upgrade parts.
You need The Knack trait, which you get from completing the Nerd Brain aspiration but yes you need the handiness skill at lvl 10 as well :)
I have gardening level 10, is there anything i can do with that? (The sim is already a plant sim)
The fact that Rabbits can kill you gives me Monte Python Flashbacks.

I do have a question though. If you have the Realm of Magic GP, can you turn one of your farm animals into a familiar? I think it would be hilarious to have an evil chicken as a familiar

I've been binging your videos, and ive never enjoyed playing sims as much as I have been for the past few days while watching, thanks for all your ideas on how to play! I honestly never took the time to understand how to play all the packs and after spending years just making all my homes and sims I'm finally enjoying the gameplay and story lines I've been able to come up with 😊

Love how so many people use red headed girls on sims 4. They all look like identical to me. Saw on the gallery a “Beautiful Base Girl” who literally looked just LIKE my sim, and just like me. It made me feel so nice. 😂 red hair is so in, my mom always told me this would happen hit the amount of torture I went through being bullied for my hair as a young girl was I bearable. I hated my hair for the longest time. Kills me how so many girls say they’re red headed now when they just flat out are not. Everyone has small tones of red in their hair but when you have red hair, it is undeniably red- period. You can’t see anything else but boom-red. There’s strawberry blonde too but that still counts. I’ve seen straight up dirty blonde girls calling themselves red heads all the time! Especially if they have freckles. Like, that doesn’t make you a red head!!!

The only thing this was missing for me is the ability to breed lamas and cows. It would be nice to have a chance at getting permanent variants like you can with chickens

Thank you so much KW! So I had this issue myself but I think [could be wrong] it's a case of poor wording for the Golden treat. As it says as an ingredient cowberry jam or honey, we assume there's a cowberry honey, but I think it means you can use 'cowberry jam' or 'honey' - as in honey from the bees in the sims 4 seasons I think! That's what makes sense to me as I was trying to find 'cowberry honey' and just never could, but maybe I am missing something.
I'm late with this, but you can combine other treats and the fishy protein treat, to have more of rare products, like golden eggs, black wool or rainbow milk the next time it is time to gather them.

Silly question, do you need a pack to be able to find the animal homes such as the rabbit home? Or can you just find them?
Thanks for the kind comment SeaQueen :). As long as you have Cottage Living you can find them around Henford on Bagley, but you do need cottage living for them.

Can you clone or copypasto livestock upgrade parts? I’m not sure but If you can, you only need to get one (provided you have get to work and have unlocked the cloning machine or have realm of magic and have unlocked copypasto)
I know this video was made a while ago but im curious if anyone knows if you own cats and dogs pack would having a dog or 2 protect against the foxes it makes sense because some breeds are guardian/protective breeds

All my hatchable eggs keep getting spoiled!
When I put the into the coop to incubate them, after a day or overnight they get spoiled without any chicks begin hatched! Once I put them in the coop and hover over them, it shows me: “will be hatched in 1d~ + some hours~” but they ALWAYS spoil before that timer runs out.
Is this a glitch?? Or do incubated eggs actually spoil in the coop, if they won’t be hatched within the same or the next day after being incubated? And if so, what do I need to do in order to stop getting them spoiled??

I have just had a vacation in game, and the animal were in the same state as when I left. So no extra produce, well fed without the feeder upgrade . Animal aging is kind of buggy in my game with chicks growing older than the hen actually having layed their eggs, so I cannot say anything for sure about their aging. (This was without the healthy treat.)

Does anyone know how to sell multiple items at the grocery store in sims 4 without having to click a bunch? For example, I wanna 20 bananas, I need to click 20 times!!! That is very killing me! Help, PLS!!! Plus, I know I can drag the item from my inventory to the bottom to sell it but if I sell it to the grocery I can have 10% or even 25% more profit.

Do cat/dog lovers have extra interactions with cats and dogs?
I don't think so now that I think about it...that's really interesting. I would say they get giddy around them, but even non-dog/cat lovers do that. The only special interaction relating to the animals themselves involve having the Cats and Dogs aspiration (can't recall what it is at the moment), which is just the "Friendliest of introductions" when meeting a new cat or dog.

You’re probably not gonna respond to this but i can’t get new or old animal sheds/animals to work after I moved to not my lot with my family. Can’t move my old animals in, can’t buy new ones and new sheds to get it to work either. So essentially, this pack is mainly useless to me now. So frustrated. Idk how to fix it.

The game must only work good on the PC. Because the PlayStation 4 is a crashing mess. I would like you to fix that problem before I die from cancer. You think you can do that. You don't mind collecting the money. Then you shouldn't mind fixing the problem.
Like literally bro.. I have a ps4 and there’s so much bugs on sims, they never fix it.. I mean they do but like it legit takes them forever to fix all the bugs it’s like the sims creators favorite PC players.. and is ps4 players are just kinda left out. This shit is annoying like at least fix the bugs for us since we can’t do mods and shit and have decent hair & clothing bc let’s be honest, all the hairs pack or no pack are ugly asf. With how much a pack costs, we should get AT least decent clothing , hair.. this is just my opinion

I wrote you an Gameplay/challenge Idea I had on Instagram :) If I was a sims youtuber I'd make a video myself but I'm not but i felt like the challenge is too good to not share and ties in SO well with the cottage living expansion (also get together and get famous and eco living). :)
