I really think this could be the start of a decent size niche. Heck, I'd want to get one to compare headphones. Knowing that they're pretty much neutral is excellent for comparison
I think Fosi really should make a bunch of different variants from IEMs to large balanced headphones and a much higher version of the same principle would be great!

Any other version would almost certainly cost quite a lot more so they can fix the background noise problem with higher end components etc for the IEMs, and to give more power for more demanding headphones.
I honestly doubt they would make anything else, since the professional audio scene already has that covered quite substantially.
I think most of their business model is to keep things cheap for the consumers, while making things attractive enough that people want to buy them, instead of the grubby looking rubber-grip volume knobs and high contrast printed text on plastic you see on similar products.
Or just get a handful of cheap resistance adaptors for IEM reviewing.
Probably should have thought of that for the video, but I'm not really an IEM reviewer ¯\_(ツ)_/¯

Thanks for this. As always they have great aesthetics. "Mr. Modder's Earbleeders Kit..." HA

The 'Custom Cans' YT channel also did a video on it, and he opened them up - this thing is also built like a tank!
The value for money is kind of insane.

Finally a good review. But just wanted to ask if you noticed change in sound through this amp vs direct connection? I am asking because similar splitter/amp Behringer HA400 degrades the sound audibly and I wanted to upgrade it. One reviewer said that there is a hiss when using low impedance hp, is it true?

    • @GREQReviews
      @GREQReviews  Před 3 měsíci +2

Only in two instances do I hear hissing.
1 - using VERY sensitive IEMs (like the HA-FW1800 in the video)
2 - turning up the volume very high (with sensitive headphones) while no audio is playing - HD650 for example had ZERO hissing even at max volume.
I think harder to drive headphones like large planars and some vintage headphones do need a bit more power, and will sound more dynamic through bigger amps, but generally speaking, there isn't a noticeable penalty for casual listening with 'normal' headphones on the PH05 - I still can't recommend it for 'audiophile' music listening, but between the PH05 and my other amps, I can barely hear any difference.
There is no obvious degredation in quality to my ears.

@@GREQReviews Thank you for your father explanation. Seems like it's better choice then Behringer HA400.

Can I use dt990 pro on this amp ??

Yes, the PH05 will definitely be able to run it at and beyond normal listening volumes.
