Just a heads up, Nitro (NTR) is the ds' codename, not a potential switch 2 codename, Midori used it as an example of previous nintendo consoles codenames.
You're one of the CZcamsrs whom I regard their educated guesses the most. I also think we're either getting a brand-new 2D Zelda or a Spirit Tracks (or A Link Between Worlds) remake. But somthing from Grezzo, no doubt. Nintendo has not re-stocked Link's Awakening for store shelves (as well as other games). My educated guess for this June Direct is, from most to less likely.
- Metroid Prime 4 Teaser Trailer (2025 release date)
- New Mario Party (middle-ground between Super and Superstars; there might even be a Board Creator!)
- Metroid Prime 2 Remastered (shadow-drop, digital-only for now)
- New 2D Zelda (or either a Spirit Tracks / A Link Between Worlds remake)
- Poochy & Yoshi's Woolly World port
- Donkey Kong 64, Diddy Kong Racing and Banjo-Tooie added for NSO
- Kid Icarus: Uprising Remastered
- Fire Emblem Echoes: Genealogy of the Holy War (December 2024 release date)
- Xenoblade Chronicles X port or Xenoblade Warriors
WWTP is far more likely than a new 2D Zelda or any other Zelda remasters.
Why do you feel Spirit Tracks is going to get a remake?

@@shooter86-uw8ce Oracle of Seasons, Ages and The Minish Cap are not only made by Capcom but also already on the NSO. A Link Between Worlds is also fairly recent and doesn't need that much of a remake.
Phantom Hourglass and Spirit Tracks however, didn't age that great and doing an overhaul with a Switch-friendly approach would do wonders for both; and out of the two, I think Spirit Tracks has a more unique story and characters, and is not a direct sequel to anything unlike PH is to Wind Waker.
I do feel that it's likelier that there will be an actual new 2D Zelda instead of a remake.

Honestly I could see a possible oracle's game remake, but with a Twist. Remember they were originally supposed to be a set of three games but they had to drop one of them do to possibly not having enough time to make it so maybe we could see them come out as one game but with maybe a third part taking place with what Zelda is doing.
They’ve talked about this, pretty much all ideas they had for that third game were ultimately implemented in the other 2, if I recall correctly mostly in Ages. This is similar to how the cut dungeons’ ideas from Wind Waker just ended up getting repurposed in Twilight Princess
So there really isn’t any ideas for that third game that never got used, if they wanted to present something as a third game, it’d just be a brand new game altogether

And this "timeline split" stuff mostly exists to delineate "the other Zelda games" that are seen as spinoffs, the same way Mario BROS is seen as mainline and 3D Mario games are seen as spinoffs; it's a seniority thing.
The couple of games with any relation to OoT, are seen somewhat like remakes. MM and WW are retellings of Link's Awakening , while Oot is its CONVERSION into 3D, and TP answers the question "how can we make more of these mature 3D games for western audiences."
These games are SPINOFFS, they're sort of like Link's Awakening Gaiden, and that legacy is passed on to Fujibayashi originally from Capcom. No hate, Mario is itself spinoff of Donkey Kong, but it has an air of novelty compared to the "old", Downfall timeline games. They were ONLY just now retold through Fujibayashi's lens as BotW harkens back to Zelda 1 and 2.
These novel games form sort of a new era, more with Fujibayashi's sensibilites. Coming-of-age theme is downplayed, while Dragons become a pivotal element of the story, probably because they're strongly influenced by The Flight of Dragons 1982.

One thing I would like to point out is that both the games Mamaeda No Bakeru (Goodfeel action platformer and successor to Goemon) and Yokai Watch 4 have had their fan translations C&D'd seemingly out of nowhere. Similar to how Miitopia was localized in the 3ds's last year despite being out for a couple years prior in Japan, i think these games would do a lot to fill the switch's last year of releases.
Especially Bakeru. Genuinely one of the best Switch exclusive platformers. It rivals Kirby and the Forgotten Land in a lot of ways and I really hope more people get a chance to play it.
Glad to have you back on CZcams! I think based on your definitely not a hint tweet and what Midori has been saying, I think we’ll get the reveal of a twilight Princess remaster with new segments or a side story where you play as Zelda.
My counterpoint to the comparison with links awakening on NSO is that the remake came out years before Game Boy NSO will even a thing. The Oracle games were put onto the service not too long ago, I just don't believe they would have put them up BEFORE any remake that must have been in the works at the time. For example we haven't had any hint of Advance Wars or Mario Vs Donkey Kong on the GBA App.
A cool zelda game would be one in the fallen hero timeline when you play as zelda/sheik with dark themes.

- A crossover game featuring lots of original Jetix characters (probably Kingdom Hearts IV or something else)
- New version of Tomodachi Life, with a wild Mii maker (like in Miitopia)
- New Mario Party with the addition of Geno, Vivian and Pauline
- New Rhythm Heaven installment
- Duelverse, the first fighting game full of various duelists (from the Yu-Gi-Oh! universe)
- Enhanced ports of Fortune Street and Mario Sports Mix, now with the addition of Geno, Mallow and a few others (who didn't make it in the original)
- An action-oriented platformer featuring Geno as the protagonist (same treatment as Snufkin, but with combat)
- Mario and Sonic in Paris

I'm guessing TPHD for Switch holiday, Zelda-led game for Switch 2 launch. A new Zelda at launch, even if it's a smaller scale game, would do wonders.
it’s looking more likely that the switch 2 will launch with a new 3D mario or mario kart (whichever doesn’t launch will be a first year title); with TPHD and WWHD released in the same way as pikmin 1+2 as a shadow drop in June after the direct; and a 2D zelda (either new or remake) as the holiday title.

Nintendo wasn’t the one who cancelled Paper Mario preorders. Walmart and Amazon cancelled them themselves. Target and Best Buy continued preorders until release day and I got mine from Target online and got it early

Anna and Elsa are not just random girly movie characters. The Universal stage production based on the novel Wicked, for which Idina Menzel was typecast as Elsa, was wildly popular in Japan, inspiring Naruto, Berserk, as well as Harry Potter that likewise is crazy popular, with theme park and merchandise well sought after.
It might as well be called Zorro or don Quixote, for a boy-oriented IP.

Hmm, not sure how I feel about the Link’s Awakening art style being used in other 2-D Zelda games. The juxtaposition between it and the anime cutscenes make sense in that game given the setting/premise, but not so much in the other games.

A small note: A lot of people assume the next Nintendo console will just be an upgrade to the Switch. While I do think that's possible, even likely, we should recognize that it's also possible they do something entirely different. They probably don't want a Switch U situation.
the issue isn’t having a console similar to the last, it’s about good marketing and naming. if they have a switch 2 and market it as a more powerful successor, then they’re fine.
if they call it switch U and focus the entire marketing on the new gimmicky controller (exactly what the Wii U did) and not the console itself, then it will fail.
also it’s almost guaranteed it won’t be something different. every single insider, and even devs from third party companies who spoke anonymously, have spoke about this being another hybrid console. the branding could be different (most likely not bc that’s a dumb idea), but the idea of the console will stay the same.
Legend of zelda oracle of secrets, plot is that Falore meets link on a place, gets trapped in another dimention where link cant get to, but can move around, basically the main gimmick is falore's powers.

I finally got the Link's Awakening remake earlier this year and find it a lot of fun, so I would definitely be in for a Zelda-focused game with that same art style. Only thing I'm not sure of, would be how they would handle the gameplay with her as the protagonist. I'd also definitely be in for a Twilight Princess HD port for the Switch, as I've never played it before. Wouldn't be against a Wind Waker HD port either, but wouldn't want it as a 2-pack with TPHD.
Its going to be a strategy game where you star as the zonai from the heroes aspect. Zonai and guardians.

My prediction is some F-Zero 99 content, namely reversed tracks which would take no effort to do, just make everyone race on tracks but in reverse and boom you have new tracks that change up how they need to be tackled. I’d prefer the lost media BS content but that feels like a pipe dream. There’s also a supposedly a new Mario Party that could be shown.

There was a charater called "Edward Maki Jr." in that Virtual Boy Robot boxing game, developed by "Nintendo Integrated Research & Development" (defunct in 2015).
If we go by those "Richard" logics, maybe it's a new Arms game? lol
Also, remember that "Nintendo NG" rumor which was around for a while? People thought, if the Switch was called NX, then NG might also be a possible name. In Japan the latin letter "X" is often used as "cross" (like on all those Smash announcements. "Smash Bros. cross Persona" etc.) Which makes sense because the switch is a cross between console and handheld.
However "NG" in japan stands for the english "no good". NG is commonly used as the opposite for "OK" there. I highly doubt they would call it that lol

if we get another Zelda remake and it's not Ages/Seasons I will be super disappointed, not gonna lie. having recently replayed them since they were put on the GB emulator on Switch online, both games would be absolutely wonderful if they got remade and sold as a package of both (with the crossover content)

My top 5 prediction for this June direct: Shantae Advance release date, Anything Mario related, New DK game (2D or 3D), English Localisation of Mameda No Bakeru (Goemon's successor) and More N64 games on NSO hopefully Diddy Kong Racing or Banjo-Tooie.
Love these speculation videos! I'm hoping for more Zelda stuff and the hope that MAYBE Nintendo might do something to celebrate Earthbound's 30th anniversary this year.

Yeah. Personally I think one could take inspiration from Etrian Odyssey where different Zelda races or archetypes like (hero for Link) could be classes to fill a custom party with. Zelda has so many races imagine having some as party members without necessarily bringing back specific individuals from them.

Adding Zelda isn't an idea in the way giving you all dungeon weapons to start is. Its just a different skin. I'm sure they would want some new gameplay concept to be central to the experience beyond it's now Zelda.
this. just having zelda be playable and not link in a 2D zelda focused on dungeon and item progression literally changes nothing.
Zelda uses way more magic. In a traditional RPG Link would be the fighter/warrior, Zelda the healer/Spellcaster. I could see it becoming more about magic that way. Or have a game with both and you'd have to switch between the magic of Zelda and the fighting skills of Link.
Peach has only 2 games with her as the protagonist show time as her 2nd game the ds1 with the umbrella she uses is her 1st one
The more I think about it the more I really like the idea of a playable Princess Zelda in a Zelda game. I’m imagining that the combat would be focused a lot more on magic and items rather than using a sword. Maybe she could summon knights or fairies to help her in combat, or even use the different abilities of summons for puzzle solving.
I really enjoy when you make videos beyond just predictions and announcements for Smash-likes. I got into your content around the hype for Smash Ultimate. Those were good times. 😊

i was thinking like a Link and Zelda Coop game for the new switch console could be cool as a cheap release title using new things this new console could do focusing on puzzles and stuff. well idk just thought about it haha
i think the fanbase is pretty tired of co-op zelda. also since we literally have only had 1 2D zelda in the almost last decade, and it wasn’t a new game it was a remake, a new one being 2D co-op would disappoint most fans.

We need a Zelda game in the fashion of Tomb Raider style and have Zelda be some kinda explorer like she was in BOTW, during the game she can switch between magic and ninja combat styles. Basically she can switch between Zelda and Sheik. You can have some missions where her father refuses to let her out the castle and Impa would help her escape the castle by reminding her of her training. From here you can go out of your way and have Zelda do OoT style combat with more focus on magic and elemental buffs.
It’s also the 25th anniversary of Donkey Kong 64 and the 25th anniversary of smash! Any chance we get any of those in the June direct

Let’s not forget that Grezzo will take the helm of possible remakes of the Oracle games. Furthermore there was evidence on their website that they are working on an upcoming game possibly another Zelda title cause the recruitment project descriptions said “medieval” and “stylish” and what falls under those categories? Zelda! Of course the link on the site has been removed so it’s likely they are finished at this point

One game that a lot of people seem to really want brought to the switch before its successor comes out is Tomodachi Life. Especially since it seems like Nintendo is sort of starting to also port 3DS stuff onto the Switch, with Miitopia back in 2021, and Luigi's Mansion: Dark Moon coming out at the end of this Month. And plus, as mentioned, miitopia is already on the switch and was i think the less popular of the 2.
yeah miitopia sold 1.22 million on 3DS and tomodachi life sold 6.72 million. the only reason we got miitopia first is because it’s easier to make. there’s plenty of behind the scenes info on how tough tomodachi life was to make; and why tomodachi collection on DS was never localised.

I highly doubt we will get Link’s Awakening art style again. People miss the point of the art direction of that game. We got that style in contrast to the opening animation because nothing that happens in the game is “Real”, so Link is literally a toy in the game. It’s not just cute artsy style character, he is a toy. Could we get a topdown style again in a Link Between Worlds style? Yes, of course, but there is NO WAY we will get the style in Link’s Awakening. It served a specific purpose in that game that just wouldn’t work anywhere else.
i mean it would still work because it looks amazing. regardless of the story significance, it’s still just an artstyle. it’s not like the oracle games can’t have it. they’re the same tone, artstyle on GBA (reusing many sprites) etc.
if not though, definitely a heavy anime art style akin to the intro cutscene of links awakening remake would be best.
My hopes:
A new OoT style linear 3D Zelda hopefully with Rito & Zonai
Hyrule Warriors 3 with the crossover aspect of HW1 back
A turn-based dungeon crawler like Etrian Odyssey
