One of the reasons he was often injured was that his growth hadn't stopped yet (Especially knees). I am happy that he is finally stay healthy in 2021.
Now everyone talks about how they never doubted Ohtani's ability from the start, but at the time they probably thought it was just a 100 mph pitcher who happened to hit three home runs.
They didn't even know that his true form was the home run king.

I'm not a baseball fan but what this guy is going is incredible.
I've followed baseball my whole life, this guy is probably the player that I've seen the most hype about coming into his rookie season. It's sooooo good to sit back and watch the show he puts on, he's still growing as a player and the more time he spends in the MLB the better he'll do, until age finally starts taking away his gift for the game.

I had faith in Ohtani even as he struggled in spring training. I was interviewed by a Japanese lady out front of the big Å a week before the season began. I told the lady as she recorded me that he may be struggling at the moment but he'll be fine.

non baseball players have no idea how impossible it is to do both hitting and pitching at this level. all eyes on the coach from here on out. needs to give him balance of rest and work.
It didn't even sink in til today that he pitches righty and bats lefty....naturally there are a lot of guys that can switch hit, but it makes him even more of a phenom that he can throw 100 with his right and hit effortless bombs from the left at the plate. I've never seen anyone do that.

thats the way allllooooottttt of japanese players swing most of them are left handed batters even if they throw right handed because they do that little stride after their swing so even if its an infield hit they can beat out the throw to first (or atleast try)
Frank Williams As an Asian baseball player myself I can testify that small ball is way more important to us cuz not everyone is physically capable of hitting home runs. Batting left gives us more momentum and less distance to first base to beat out the throw.

Only he’s twice as big! Every ball he hits seems hard. A lot of power and underestimate speed. Pay attention to how fast he gets to first on ground balls. Athlete
again he would be a half second slower to first if he strode like the normal mlb player but he has that special stride that gets him there faster its really a useful tool he plays great small ball along with his pop
