I APPROVE this message. Military really benefits ppl fresh out of high school bc it provides them with direction considering if they were raised in the "hood". As a 30 year old with a college degree, military is blah. You were spot on when you said "I'm not using the military they are using me". The military will get theirs no matter what and I would have no motivation for a job that gives me diminishing returns

There's nothing wrong with how you feel, and I understand completely what you are dealing with. I joined at 17 and still serving and now as field grade Warrant, I see myself in a lot of new Soldiers and had some of the same issues they are going through. I hope you don't receive any negative comments about how you feel. You are entitled to those feelings and it's ok to agree to disagree. I consider myself lucky, but I know is not the case for everyone. Drink your water, find something you enjoy to keep you busy and time will go fast in the event you decide to ETS. Lastly, I wish we had more mature Soldiers like you. I was a drill from 2007-2009 and I had to pray a lot. #YouGotThis!!!

@@kyonnap_ I hope so as well. It has been a roller-coaster for sure. Every time I thought about retirement, I had Soldiers like you that I felt I needed to protect, but I don't have any Soldiers in this assignment so, I don't feel too bad about retiring.
Im sure making it to the retirement stage is one of the best feelings!! I’m glad the Army got to experience having a leader like yourself 🥰❤️
@@kyonnap_ Thanks for your kind words. I try to be, my hope is that those leaders after me remember where they came from and treat Soldiers well. I was hard, but fair and took care of everyone as much as I could.
Even tho I’m 25 I went to a community college at 17 and I didn’t really accumulate loans because I knew I didn’t want to be in debt. So I just stopped at my associates at most I think I owe $2,000 because I did transfer to a four year but left as soon as the pandemic hit. I was sheltered so I’m gonna feel like the younger ones because I didn’t get much life experience I just worked in childcare and didn’t venture out. I totally see what you mean though, if you came from a two parent household and had a good start… the military might not seem like a step up if you’ve already had a leg up on people with a lower socioeconomic status. I want to join the National Guard or Air Force. Thank you for this insight!
Im so happy you decided to share that with me because that’s why I preach that it depends on your background. I actually come from a single parent home,my parents were never together. My daddy also lived in SC while I was in TN. My mama just was straight 😂 Well now that I’m smarter, I would’ve never let my mama take out a loan on my behalf while I’m 17 lol but I have different opinion on that! So it’s smart that you still can come in without being in debt at the start of your career. And you probaly never will be.
I hear some good things about the National Guard but I definitely would recommend AF now that I’m in. Just score high on ASVAB

Happy New Year! 🎉 You're right people do something for different reasons, and then they will have different expectations/outcomes. I'm familiar with the two vids regarding the army experiences that came out in the last couple of months. Everyone has to do deep soul searching for oneself , where you are, or were, at that point in time, and one's choices may not be like everyone else's, and their results is not going to be like everyone else. That is also true in civilian life - there are some jobs/companies I would never work for no matter how big the "reward" (ie benefit) is, but I don't stop others from pursuing what they see as God's greatest (and possibly only) blessing. Hopefully soon, a way will pop out, where you can "make the job work for you". Regarding school - do you want to be in a full-time master's pgm at a certain univ? Many schools are have distance online pgm, taking one or two classes at a time, that are more accommodating to working adults.
Absolutely! I’m glad you get my point ✊🏽 And that’s the thing, I know manyyy people before & after me will benefit greatly from the military. I just am being adamant about presenting both sides because no one did when I came in! The programs I am able to attend out here are hybrid courses. So some are online while some require in person hours. That’s good, until I can’t make the in person hours. And for social work it is a residency period that is required. I have to ensure I’ll be granted leave for it or I will not graduate from the program. Residency sometimes can be 1 year long.
I'm applying as for OCS, but if the OCS doesn't work it's reserves for me. I'm keeping my civilian job. To go enlisted is to go backwards

Yes I do! But I’m more-so disappointed at the knowledge I lacked that could’ve been a key component in me making the best decision!
I’m about to finish my bachelors in Psych and I’d like to become a therapist. What do you think would be the best route to take? 68x? OCS? ROTC for grad school? What would you suggest
@@johnmichaelzayas2847 Meet with an AMEDD recruiter. Tell them you want to go the Clinical Psychology route or MSW route. If not try ROTC, then OCS last. The last two options don’t promise you the job of your choice!
