Just a few personal reflections of mine: This song brings back the best of memories from the spectacular year, 1979. From the above albeit short-lived series, Philadelphia is shown in the vivaciously best light as it was back then. Saw Maureen at Cafe Carlyle. Anything Maureen sings is charming. Well, that's her.
A sitcom that got canceled for absolutely no reason, it was good enough to see a second season, yet some idiot canceled it because he didn't think it could last 5 seasons
I loved that time. This song made me so happy then and today it makes me remember all those great days when anything was possible. This show was actually very funny, I loved Doris Roberts in this before she was Marie on Raymond...Donna Pescow was fantastick.
~ R.I.P. Doris Roberts ~ Thank you for posting this 1979 fun dance song from the TV show ~ everyone including Nicolette Larson, Carly Simon, Carole King & Helen Reddy made a dance song for this particularly dancey decade ~ Cheers, DAVEDJ ~
DAVID WOLF love all these ladies you mentioned! That’s really great company for Maureen to be in. This was a different era where it was just about the music and feeling good.
Don't forget Maureen McGovern she's the one that sang the theme song for the show and she also sang earlier the morning after! They were all very good in their day.
On this day in 1979 {September 4th} Maureen McGovern performed "Different Worlds" on the nationally syndicated weekday-afternoon television program, 'The Mike Douglas Show'... At the time "Different Worlds" was in it's first of two weeks at #1 on Billboard's Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, and three weeks later it would peak at #18 {for 2 weeks} on Billboard's Hot Top 100 chart... It reached #1 on the Canadian RPM Adult Tracks chart... Between 1973 and 1981 the Youngstown, Ohio native had eleven records on the Adult Contemporary Tracks chart, three made the Top 10 with one reaching #1, the above "Different Worlds"... Besides "Different Worlds", her two other Top 10 records were "The Morning After" {#6 in 1973} and "Can You Read My Mind" {#5 in 1978}... Maureen Therese McGovern celebrated her 70th birthday two months ago on July 27th, 2019...
That’s very interesting ! I never she was from Youngstown Ohio . Ohio has given us a lot of talent . I’m glad I’m a buck eye ! Allison Janey from Oakwood. & Beverly De anglo from Columbus Ohio Carmen Electra from Sharonville Ohio Halleyberry from Cleveland Ohio & Drew Carey & Paul Newman . Cincinnati Ohio gave us Steven Spielberg & Doris Day & Roy Rogers . & few others . In Yellow springs Ohio Dave Chappell . I’m in Beavercreek which I’m not far from yellow springs !
Music by Charles Fox who at the same time ANGIE was airing, also had the themes to HAPPY DAYS, WONDER WOMAN, LAVERNE & SHIRLEY and PAPER CHASE (All w/lyrics by Norman Gimbel) as well as LOVE BOAT (Lyrics by Paul Williams). He often had the top 3 shows in the Nielsen ratings and as many as 4 in the top 10.
1:06 Googie’s Coffee Shop in downtown Los Angeles at 5th and Olive. They’re walking through Pershing Square park . LOL not quite all Philadelphia shots.
@@jc9716 Yes he was. During the episodes when Debra Winger was Diana Prince’s younger sister Drusilla, Robert Hays was a Pilot filled with fear, and also Drusilla’s boyfriend. That was the episode where Wonder Woman pretended to get hit by a bullet to inject a little bit of courage in him.
This song hit #1 on the Billboard Adult Contemporary Chart and #18 on the regular Billboard charts. Anybody know what the Adult Contemporary Chart is? Me neither. Should have been #1 on both charts.
Basically the Adult Contemporary Chart pertains to your soft rock stations, which also tap into Hot A/C, which means that's borderlined with the actual top 40 charts and songs
Love this song and all of Maureen McGovern's songs as well. I used to watch this TV show of the 1970's. Beautiful memories.
Watched EVERY episode, from the very 1st to the very last, back in the day... loved the show then, REALLY love it now!
Loved the theme song and the show. Loved Philly back then too. ❤❤❤🎉🎉🎉
I am a 70's Kid!

This dazzling song is tear inducing beauty, shimmering and sparkling alive with love. Her Morning After, definitely this song.
Loved the show "Angie" with Donna Pescow and Robert Hays.
R.I.P: Debra Lee Scott
This is the best version yet. This is very clear and the sound is good.
A sitcom that got canceled for absolutely no reason, it was good enough to see a second season, yet some idiot canceled it because he didn't think it could last 5 seasons
Loved the theme song and the show. Thanks for the memories
Maureen McGovern one of a kind!

This is what the whole world needs right now and always forever
well said, and VERY true!
A time when you had to work like the dickens but scored a massive payoff.
Dig all the key changes in this number. It's great, and so is Maureen McGovern, this, from a child of the 70's. :)

Yo ví Angie en Chile y era buenisima.
Donna Pescow--"Saturday Night Fever"; Robert Hays--"Airplane!"; Debralee Scott--"Welcome Back, Kotter"
Loved this show. RIP Doris Roberts.
Doris Roberts also played Linda Lavin's mother on "ALICE"
But as Marie Barone on " Everybody Loves Raymond",she was amazing!Miss the incomparable Doris Roberts... class act and great sitcom mother!
Yep. And Debralee Scott.
Angie was on ABC from Feb. 8, 1979 to Oct. 2, 1980.
Thank you very much for posting that I was always wondering when that was on in the late 70s and early 80s!
Remember Marine McGovern sang the song in 1973 the morning after?
Such a great show...& so many memories as a child watching it.
I never knew that Debralee Scott had a fiancee who was killed in the 911 attacks...
I love this song
Call out to Robert Hays for being my ideal guy!
Great t.v. show.
Yeah don't forget who sang the song, she was good too! Right?
Loved this song and this show - Had an early crush on Donna Pescow (And later Debra Lee Scott RIP)
I love that song. That show was fun, too!

turn on yur heart light and love will not hurt and you won't hate life
Gimbel and Fox also wrote "I Got A Name".
The song is SOOOO good for karaoke... even better if you CAN'T sing well!
Does anyone remember Robert Hays on the TV Show Wonder Woman?
He must have been a guest. Lyle Waggoner, from Carol Burnette, was Lynda Carter's co-star.

I always thought Doris Roberts and Vivian Vance were the same actress.
they look SO Much alike.. of course.... smh...

Adult Contemporary demographics are 25-49. In this case it was women in that age group.
Take a split decision when you can.
