NOT Fast or Easy! How to remove wine bottle labels. 3 Steps

A variety of methods and materials are tested to try to remove labels from wine bottles. The best method is then demonstrated.

It's time to bottle my first wine. What I did was soak bottles just in hot water and labels peeled off quite nicely. After that I used fuel used in camping spirit stoves to remove adhesive and I think it worked quite well.

To get the glue off I use equal parts baking soda and vegetable oil, let sit for 30 mins and wash off with water and dawn. Easy

I put bottles in a pan on a stove 180 Degrees or so add some Oxyclean wait for a about 15 minutes and the labels float off.

I put my bottles in a 350° oven for 5-7 minutes- the labels peel right off no problem. Any adhesive leftovers is removed with mineral spirits. The mineral spirits is a bit oily so I do a quick wipe with acetone. Then a good hot water and cleaner wash followed by the sanitizer of your choice to make them ready for use.

Beware, high oven temperature can weaken the glass.
