I remember when Minutes to Midnight came out, one of my best friends and I listened to it for the first time while driving, and he looked at me and says, “This entire album is a suicide note”. It was so hard to listen to, but so good. Rest in Peace Chester, he fought for so long.
"Given up" - There´s really something angelic about his demonic scream in this song. Really breathtaking vocal capabilties.
It’s not prophetic… it’s sharing your fears. He feared he would end himself. Those of us with such feelings often share them.
I don’t think there is anything wrong with saying Chester knew his ending. He was so very open about his struggles with depression, addiction, and childhood trauma. Music helped saved him for as long as it could. He left behind a plethora of reasons for not just his friends and family, but an an entire world to miss him.
The lyric was " Pretending someone else CAN come and save me from myself"
"The Little Things Give You Away" off this album might be my all time favorite Linkin Park song

When I listen to this song, I think this was a cry for help. Granted, he died 10 years after this song was released but you can see how long he had it on his mind.
This is a beautiful song but it’s heartbreaking as well 😿
Chester was a big twenty one pilots fan. I wish he could have experienced the Trench era. Maybe it could have given him more solace ||-//

Shadow of the Day is a song that rarely gets requested, but has a haunting message that is both inevitable and beautiful. The official video is great, too!
This song really helped me get through things when my husband passed suddenly and way too young.
We had seen LP in concert. So I had a great memory of him looking at me an mouthing these words as well.
This was years before Chester's unfortunate passing. I know that is most people's association.
This video itself, which the Sunshine like space theme also just feels so well done.
Mike's/the band's writing was often based on personal talk within the band though!

This is one of my favorite Linkin park songs. I highly recommend checking out “over again” by mike shinoda. Its from his album that he wrote after Chester’s death.

My father took his own life when I was 10 and I was so angry and sad at him not understanding, after hearing this song I broke down because it felt entirely like it was him explaining it to me. Still gets me every time I listen to it

Humans are at their happiest moments in life when their time is almost up and Chester was truly 100% happy in those final days before he died because he knew his suffering was going to end soon. We miss you brother, gone but never forgotten RIP
How's your heart feeling? as an OG LP fan, watching everyone's reactions now, makes me so happy and sad because Chester and the boys helped me through my teenage years.

Love your videos
This is one of my favourites. It reminds me of Floating in the Forth by Frightened Rabbit with the foreshadowing - the band released it 10 years before Scott Hutchison, the lead singer, died and the whole song foreshadowed his suicide right down to where/how (I Wish I Was Sober by Frightened Rabbit would be a good song of theirs to react to).
I remember when I first heard this song I thought it was about a failed relationship (how it leaves a hole in your life and how you want the other person to remember you better than your behavior at the ending might have been). Then when what happened , I thought that it refers to leaving behind loved ones when you’re gone.
Still not sure which version was intended.
Still enjoyed hearing your viewpoints on songs as it gives me points to ponder.

It reminds me of a totally different movie. Sunshine. With Cillian Murphy, Hiroyuki Sanada, and Chris Evans. Some scenes in the video are literal rip offs.
