    So I have been driving a 2021 Polestar 2 with the smallest configuration possible via Sixt+ subscription for one year now. Even in the old model, one pedal drive is so smooth and fun to use, the software is very sleek and clean. When you connect your iPhone, you can choose which voice control you want to use by either pressing the button shortly for the onboard Google Assistant or longer to bring up Siri. Route planning with Google maps including all charging stops is superb. Calculated charge state of arrival is calculated very precise, but with conservative driving I always get more in the end. Which certainly is better than the other way around. I have been enjoying this car so much, that I have now ordered a 2025 PS2 LRSM in color Snow, with a 82 kWh battery (instead of 64) and 200 kW single engine (instead of just 165). Acceleration in that setup was already absolutely sufficient and fun. I did not choose the dual motor or even the performance pack in favour of more range and driving comfort. I am so looking forward to the handling with the new rear engine setup, the glass roof, the leather seats, etc. and I can't wait to see, how far I can go with one fully charged battery.

    I have an MY24 LRSM, they moved to a rear wheel drive in the single motor variant for 24 and it is lovely to drive. The Google interface is fantastic, the battery percentage calculation is normally bang on or, just a little pessimistic, which is the right side of the line to be on when looking at range in an EV.
    Great Video as always ;-)

      Awesome, my son has the same and 12 thousand miles later is lovin it. He gets almost exactly the range of my Ioniq 6 SE AWD, though the PS2 batt is a little bigger. He finds the seats in the PS2 much more comfortable than the Ioniq's. Great car and one of the most "available" cars in Canada, next to Tesla. Everything else is backordered!

    • @wiselyauto
      @wiselyauto  Před 5 měsíci

      If you are buying new, the 2024 LR SM definitely seems like the pick of the range. We are hoping to get our hands on them as they start trickling onto the used market.
      Enjoy!

    I had an LRDM performance model with plus and pilot packages from January 2021 through August 2022 and I really liked it and I did 15,000 miles in it. Very fast, comfortable and very good handling. A little smaller than you might think in the front (quite snug for the driver), but better in the rear than expected. I loved the Google Android Automotive system - everything else sucks (even Tesla’s system). Range was about 210 miles when you just drove it normally, 230 if you took it easy, 180 if you drove enthusiastically. We don’t need two cars at the moment, but if we need another car I will buy one of these again.

    I've tried this and the model 3 and I really like the polestar. Model 3 is nice but the polestar I just thought was the better car. Android automotive is by far the best non Tesla EV system too.

    I’ve just read that quite a number of of potential Tesla customers are being put off because of Elon Musk’s troubling political views… I think, though I love my model 3, I’ll be looking to Polestar for my next car!

      Please cite his “troubling” political views; at least the ones you don’t like and please be specific. Or are you just repeating the common received wisdom? If you want a worse car, you are also free to do so as you are guided by emotion.
      It’s amusing how buying a car from the CCP apparently has ZERO troubling political ramifications. Just ask a Uyghur!

    I am old enough to remember having the navigation screen in the instrument cluster was such a big deal and only available for top end German cars. Even the cheapest Polestar have this feature is just unreal! This along with apple car play and android auto, I don't know what else one could ask for?

    I had the chance to rent one for a day in Belgium, as a nice upgrade to the car I had reserved. It's a great car, even in the lowest speck. Very good interior, much better quality. It's a hatchback, it's very comfortable, it drives well even in the one motor version (I had the front wheel drive version, MY2023, the 2024 is RWD and more powerful). The only flaw I noticed is the 11.5 m turn diameter. Everything else is better than the Tesla3, except the price probably, although they reduced it so you would need to check if it's available in your country.

    What a great review, you can see Volvo DNA running through this vehicle! I suspect it beats Tesla hands down on safety features. If we ever get tired of our i3, a Polestar, or Volvo EV, is on our next shopping list. I would be interested in a comparison video between Polestar and Volvo’s own branded EV’s?

    I love the PS2 MY23, it’s got a good mix of performance and practicality. The one pedal drive is excellent. Handling is good. Dual motor is very fast. I still like the look of it every time I see it on the driveway. Interior quality is also very high quality.

    Finally a review that mentioned insurance!
    As a 21 year old in a small town in the UK with next to no crime and a 2 year driving license with 2 years no claims bonus.
    2021 Model 3 SR+ (£18k used) - £3,300 insurance
    2021 polestar 2 SR (£22k) - £1,100
    2021 polestar 2 LR DM (£23k) - £1,400
    Can’t even get quoted to insure the 2021 Model 3 long range or performance.

    • @wiselyauto

      Really considering a used polestar because I’ve always liked how they looked… and they’re pretty affordable 2nd hand. And cheaper than my BMW was to insure last year too lol.
      An MG4 is £2,900 to insure but I believe that’s due to lack of parts since it is pretty new.

  • @zeedustrakok
    @zeedustrakok Před 4 měsíci

    A few months ago I had to get a new EV. The Polestar 2 was an option, I like how it drives, but the interior quality isn't there for a €70k car. My previous cars were Volvo V60 D4 and Volvo XC60 T6 recharge. Since I like quality and ergonomics the Tesla is a definite no. BMW i4 is the better car for a driver, but more expensive.
    Since it is a company lease it is the monthly price I pay attention to.
    So in the end I got a BMW i5, it was cheaper than an i4, and only 10% more than the polestar, but it is way higher quality.
    And for the google OS: it's not bad, but I am not the biggest fan. I do prefer the BMW version.

    I didnt like the very enclosed cockpit in the Polestar.That was the main negative for me. The rear passenger footprint hump was annoying also, i dont often take 5 people but i sometimes do.Otherwise it was decent ... oh yes at the time, this was before the refresh, it was very expensive once you added particular features you wanted you had to buy various expensive groups of options to get the one or two features ou wanted. Pity, its a good car otherwise. Maybe the next refresh will help these things. ETA FWIW was comparing with a Model Y. Model 3 is too low riding for me, this is a bit higher.

      Not just me then. I hired one a few months ago. As an engineering concept it’s a fantastic vehicle.
      But I’m 6ft2 & I found the cockpit quite claustrophobic. The low roof & the black headliner means I could never own one. Pity because it’s a super thing to drive.
