- Hey everyone, today is a special episode! Jon King runs the website called, “San Jacinto Trail Report.” It’s an absolute must-view for anyone who intends to take on the San Jacinto mountains as it provides detailed commentary on what the weather is like, what the trail conditions are, and what gear to bring. He also posts videos and pictures to provide visuals as well. Without a doubt, Jon has helped a countless number of people become more aware and more prepared by volunteering his time and energy on San Jacinto (at least 1,000 hours/miles annually). He deserves our utmost gratitude! If you can, please consider making a donation to Jon because the information he continues to provide is absolutely priceless!

Jon is a good guy. The best. We work fire lookout together in the summer.
Jon is super humble
of all the different vloggers of the PCT your the first one to show Jon and all the great things he does for local and PCT hikers
Mate you are looking thinner and healthier already in your face.
Thank you! ❤️😎
Look at you man! What a great way to spend your forced down time. Not only are you educating yourself and hiking very smart, you're helping others hikers. Awesome job sir.
Yes, exactly! Such a great guy.
Very well done . You have a career in interviewing! TY Jon for your efforts. Be safe SCH!
Thank you! So thankful for Jon! ❤️❤️❤️❤️❤️
Hey second, you’re a really great interviewer! Man I can’t wait to see you on Ellen.
Oh my goodness that will be so fun, I can already picture Ellen losing it laughing hard at something he says.
DUDE! You are so selfless. Thinking of & trying to protect others. So glad I'm subscribed to you. Bless you!
Wow, your confidence has grown 100% from your first video, you are looking so much healthier and happier. Great interviewing. Stay safe SCH.
I must chime in with everyone else, you're looking noticably thinner, healthier, and more energetic! Keep up the momentum, but do it safely.
Much love to you both, Mr. King, you are saving lives! Trail magic at its best. Thank you for spotlighting this fine man!
Back in 2005, my thru-hiker class lost Seabreeze as he lost the trail going into Idyllwild, in late April. A bunch of years later some lost folks found his body and backpack. I was in waist deep snow in late May but made it through. It gets real up there.
Mount San Jacinto - was my backyard before moving to Texas. The town of Idyllwild would be an awesome spot to wait for better weather - continue kicking ass!!!
YESSSSSS
I could see an experienced hiker like him using his inreach to assist someone else even. If he came across another hiker who needed help quickly, having that resource would be invaluable
Really special video, Cory, thanks, you are getting stronger as a film maker all the time. Take care out there buddy 👍😃
Looking good! Can see changes in your face already. You have my utmost respect for striking out on the PCT. Enjoy following you on this journey. Be smart and stay safe out there!
Thank you so much for the information 2nd chance you are doing awesome and an inspiration to all I have followed you from the beginning And you are like no other hiker God be with you you're the best
Thank you, playing it safe and getting the best information not just for myself but other hikers! I don’t want to see anyone get hurt!
Damn so many comments and it's been 28 minutes well I guess that was better than me being 665. Everybody see the same thing , the weight loss in your face , the jolliness is still their and the skillful artistry of an interviewer and most of all helping other hikers. keep up the great work Corey!!!
Hitch around San Jacinto and continue your hike. Be safe
Hi Second Chance.
With your 200 lbs. weight loss goal while hiking the P.C.T., I hope you are not forced to remain stagnant on the trail.
Just my opinion, if you have the resources, get yourself to a safe section of the trail a.s.a.p. and continue sweating your ass off everday.
We are rooting for you so much in Detroit and looking forward to hearing from the Luv Dr. :-)
Best video yet SCH! Keep up the great work. We are all pulling for you. Your willingness to stick it out is inspiring. Remember the words of Calvin Coolidge, “Nothing in this world can take the place of persistence. Talent will not: nothing is more common than unsuccessful men with talent. Genius will not; unrewarded genius is almost a proverb. Education will not: the world is full of educated derelicts. Persistence and determination alone are omnipotent. The slogan “Press On” has solved and will always solve the problems of the human race.”
Addicted to checking on your progress daily! You got this
Thank you both! Little less than 2 weeks and we shall be on the trail with you 🙂
Thanks for the update! I will make sure my PCT-bound friends check it out.
Excellent interview, Corey. You asked all the right questions. Robert (the Heavy Hiker) says hi. I'm praying for your continued health, safety, and enthusiasm. You are inspiring a lot of people! Cheers! - Larry: PCT Trail Angel and Section Hiker from San Diego.
Well done Cory! Yes, Jon is the man! He will stay overnight at the peak just to get the weather change conditions to all you hikers. Hopefully, some of you will see him on the trails as you hike through! sanjacjon.com
Wow, great vid! Special thanks to Mr. King for looking out for people hiking up there!
Excellent and important interview, second chance hiker!!! Your questions are excellent, and I hope you'll continue to interview people on your hike.
Hello my outdoors friend. Thank you for communicating with Jon. Many many hikers on the PCT will see your video. This timely information will be very beneficial to those who will soon be doing the NOBO PCT. Be safe out there and watch out for the Chip and Dale chipmunk gang. 🤗
Oh wow! You do look thinner in your face. Looking good my friend! What a great interview. This really helps out your classmate on the PCT. I live in the Reno area and this year we have had sone crazy weather. Be safe☺️🌻
Not only hiking and improving yourself but also helping and giving back to the hiking community! :) So are you jumping ahead then? Waiting it out?
Was getting worried until you posted this. Thank you for the update! Stay safe!
Gr8 interview, gr8 questions, you put thought into it. You are doing fellow hikers a service! Very knowledgeable man Jon.

Best year ever for the low parts of the azt. Good luck and keep moving.
Excellent interview! Thankyou for sharing!! I hope you're enjoying your time off...looks like you're keeping yourself occupied in a positive way!!
Cory you are my favorite hiker to follow on CZcams this year you are making the most of your journey so far and you look and sound great!!!
Thank you for posting this update. I know there are a lot of hikers out there that will be coming up to this section in the coming wks & not all of them are aware of the conditions. I’ve been carrying an inreach for yrs as well, especially after starting to backpack solo. I personally saw it used for a rescue last year on the Pct & had a friend that had to use one last yr in the Sierras. It’s well worth the money.
Dude you're killing it! Great interview and info! The best advice was to know how to use your microspikes, crampons and ice ax. Would you try to fly a plane without instructions? Self arresting after falling on your back and sliding head first requires training and PRACTICE.
The funny thing is if a warm storm comes through alot can melt. But then if it chills at night, ice becomes a major concern. Go figure.
Flipping ahead to Cabazon north, then heading back to flop later is a consideration to continue adding miles and keeping the mojo flowing. Keep it up!
Looking forward to see your vlogs of the time between Scissors Crossing and San Jacinto. Be Safe!
You inspire me! I want to see you finish this, slow and steady wins the race, listen to your body!
Great video! Skip ahead to another section that you can hike and don’t wait. You can always come back.
Great interview dude, you are a natural in front of the camera

Rooting for you- great job on this video. I agree with other comments - you look like you are improving already- Keep moving, don’t stop- maybe it’s worthwhile to skip ahead and come back later if you want to see it.

Beard coming in good! Valuable video. Thanks. Keep it up!
You're looking better with each video. I bet you feel great too. As somebody else suggested, you should find a hiking buddy who's experienced in moving safely across snow to give you some pointers and, as I'm sure Jon told you, take the necessary gear. Be safe!
