I've seen some of his videos now, and I'm not surprised many can't tell the difference, I'm just going to tell you, they aren't all from China. Also, this is not the only YT channel paid for these contents against China. I don't care nor picking a side, but US main media won't hesitate if these were true, except, if it isn't, there would be a huge monetary penalties with hundreds of court orders, so leaving small independent media do these, is actually common now.

No way it only takes $20 billion. This is like that "it only costs $7 billion to end world hunger" statistic. Homelessness in the US is largely a mental illness and drug addiction problem, which is a super complex issue with no perfect solution. If it really was that easy, someone would fix it and enjoy the endless praise from the entire country that they would be showered with for fixing an issue as old as mankind.

The ECONOMY OF HOMELESSNESS? You mean the people who eat up resources without producing anything, trash public property, and steal from businesses to survive, are somehow creating a thriving ecosystem of wealth around them? Well damn, sign me up. Imma sit on my ass and do nothing for the next 45 years, you can give me food, water, shelter, education, and basic supplies and rake in the millions. Thats what the soup kitchens are doing I guess? You have to be legit insane to think rich people see homelessness as anything except a problem. And even if rich people were somehow making money off homeless people through magic or something, that still wouldn't explain why no politician would fix homelessness for a measly $20 billion. They would be praised for generations, and their career would be secured for as long as they wanted to stay in office. If a president fixed homelessness, they would get a basically guaranteed 2nd term unless they made some horrific mistake that overshadowed that. Biden has made budget plans for well over $1 trillion, so why would he not tack on a small $20 billion addition to erase homelessness from the US, and earn respect from all sides of the political spectrum?

I met some of these people in Thailand after COVID. There was a small group of Chinese who kept to themselves at our hostel. One day I overheard them in Chinese repeatedly talking about my country Mexico which got me to talk with them. They were quite happy to learn I could speak Chinese but more excited to learn I was from Mexico. They started asking me a bunch of questions about crossing the border into the US to which I bluntly told them I had no idea about and discouraged it. I asked where they got these crazy ideas from and they said that people were posting videos and tutorials of how to cross into the US online. The Chinese government hard handed approach to COVID was what made them leave. They wanted to go both for the freedom and economic benefits but they had a very naive and overly optimistic view of the US. They saw the high wages US workers were making but had no idea as to the incredibly high living costs associated with living there. I tried explaining that there was a housing shortage and that their expectations for life in the US would set them for disappointment but they either didn't believe me or brushed off my criticism. I also tried encouraging them to go to German or Australia instead (places which I feel would be better and easier for them to enter) but they seemed dead set on just going to the US. Unfortunately I don't know where they are now as Wechat is blindly and constantly blocking and deleting accounts in SE Asia without reason.........................

My view is not absolutely correct. Because everyone's views are influenced by their life circumstances.
I don't know where to start..... I was born and raised in a middle class family in a city that has been developing at a super fast pace for the past 40 years, Shenzhen.
In the last 26 years of my life, I have certainly seen a bit of beggars, or homeless people on the streets, and prostitutes or some lack of education and rudeness, but these only happened when I was a teenager. In the last ten years, I really haven't seen any of these phenomena, not even a single beggar in my city.(But maybe in other places)
Poor people, sure, but they have their own place and the ability to put food on the table. Although poor, most of them I saw were organized, with their dwellings clean and tidy and very well behaved.
Of course, since this country has focused most of its energy on developing the economy in the past few decades, there may be some lack in education, for example, but not most.
We were never bothered by the security issues because if we were having a coffee in a coffee shop and if we wanted to go to the bathroom, we were at ease and not anxious to leave my laptop, cell phone, etc., on the table without any worry that someone would steal it.
I have lived and visited several countries like Italy, the states, and México.Because I am working in importion and exportation. I am currently living in México. But I will often think about security when I am not living in China.
It seems to me that most people think the same way on a deeper level, and there is no difference in nature.
This is just my own opinion and it may not be correct.

I am Chinese and in China NOW. I live in an ordinary city in Henan, central China. I testify that the situation here is worsening, economically and politically, at a speed I've never experienced. Many people lost their jobs, though I cannot give you numbers, but I can clearly feel it. A large portion of local factories and companies, including the one I worked for, have been and still are cutting down employee benefits since the midst of the pandemic. And if you walk around it's definitely not difficult to find shops and even entire malls that used to be popular and crowded are now closed. Another aspect, that communist ideology and mentality seep into people‘s minds in an all-round way. The education system, press, television, social media, and short video platforms, there is almost no escape.
Growing up in a relatively relaxed political environment under the administration of Hu and Wen, I used to be believing that China was on the right track to democracy and rule of law, just like Taiwan did, and I was being part of it. But now, proved to be dreams, not real. Since the pandemic, I have been tormented by depression. I find it difficult to see goodness, and easily to be trapped in desperation to find back the not-too-good but hopeful days. Noticing the rights and freedoms in aspects of life are taken away day by day, little by little, yet people around me, friends, families, and even my parents don't share the same thoughts, they only listen to you talking about it at best. My mother always tells me, whenever I mention these subjects, not to speak about them in public or in front of strangers or in the workplace. I see this place of no hope. Maybe I'm a coward and am weak, I’m getting tired of struggling.

    • @smigleson
      @smigleson Před 6 měsíci +33

Hey stranger, I'm from Brazil and i can't exactly offer much except sympathy and my shared faith that no matter how hopeless, when full chaos occurs there is always hope for being in the right place at the right time to find a way out of misery. It is hard to be alone, i understand that very well, most of my country people are illiterate. While i have learned not only portuguese but english and have been able to learn more about the world. I too have tried to find the truth no matter how bleak it was and have once thought that things would change for the better without going into full chaos. Most people still believe in climbing the economical ladder and that they will find some opportunity despite how reality hits all around them.
What i mean to say is that i know that seeing the world the way it is makes you feel desperate because you end up facing the problems in a way that makes you rely only on yourself, and in turn makes talking with people meaningless or a chore. But there is hope for communion and a better day once it all falls apart if you manage to hold on long enough. Find enough of a will to push through the solitude. You are only alone for the moment, and although it has been years and it may still go on for a few more, it will not be your entire life. If you want to talk to me, feel free to do so. But don't give up now, please.

Education, love for the human race, and correct views on religion/morality are the only cures again in my opinion. Stay awesome yourself, my friend.

  • @FloatLikeABeeStingLikeAButter

I’m a Chinese person in China. I don’t like here one bit but I cannot just leave because I want to take care of my mom, she’s old. The stuff in these videos are all true but I’ve seen worse here. I work in Shanghai for an American company, but since I’m already 41, I can’t be losing this job because if I lost it I may never find a job again as good as this one. Chinas problems are way worse than this, i as a working class, am afraid everyday that I would get sick, because I can’t call in sick because we have so few sick leaves here, even though I’m in a foreign company they still apply the Chinese rules. Capitalism and ccp combined is doubling pain. I have post covid symptoms, in China they officially don’t allow people mentioning covid because it’s a shame to xi’s governing, I have to suffer through it, AT WORK, because I’ve used all my sick leaves which is just 5 days… and that’s nothing compared to some other stuff I know. The large population created a large web of scams, the prostitution industry underground is massive, I don’t want to even think about it because I’ve seen some really good girls have to do that kind of stuff, it’s unthinkable because I know what those men are like…. The bigger stuff, like real estate, like tech and stock market stuff, all the world knows are the happy ones, although real estate and stock market can’t make happy ones anymore. The economy is really backwards it feels like the 90s again. The biggest problem is the mind numbing nationalists who can’t see people say anything bad about this country, they are like a cult, a cancer, they’re like when you go traveling in a good place you see a pile of garbage with feces lying on the ground. And also a big problem is that a majority of people have no moral values, feels more like a mad max world here without the violence, yet. I really want to get out of here, from the bottom of my heart. I want to take my mother if I can. But what I earn is no hope even to live better in this country. It’s like a giant prison here, yes you can go around, but the government made sure your mental state is locked up, even if you know they’re evil, you have to praise them like they’re saints kind of prison.

As long as no bastard is forcing their own idea of "better" on others then we have a chance of fixing the overall situation a bit. Over here in Aus things are pretty good really, but going downhill a notch every time our political betters try to fix us, the ordinary people. Making "the system" better only ever happens when people fix themselves. Fixing others is never help, it's only ever meddling.

The difference between homelessness in the US and China is that in the US it is almost exclusively tied to drugs and/or mental illness. Most choose to be on the streets. There are plenty of shelters, but the shelters might make you work a few hours and/or attend a sermon, counseling, or drug rehab every day and they won't let you take drugs. So they live on the streets instead and tend to stick to areas with better weather if they can. China most are homeless because they have no choice. There are no shelters. This is typically not caused by drugs or mental illness, but by the lack of jobs and no government assistance.

China is doing really well in the world's economy, making up almost 20% of the World's GDP and almost 40% of global manufacturing. It's impressive how China keeps growing strong even when facing challenges from other countries like the US and EU. These countries try to slow down China with sanctions and tariffs, but China still does better in many areas. This shows how strong and smart China is in dealing with challenges and staying ahead in the global market.

The factories that sprang up like weeds from foreign investment lifted a ton of people out of poverty, (often to the detriment to the middle class in europe and north america) It is sad that the money was sucked up into too few of people's pockets; and often sent with business owner's kids to foreign countries to go to university and buy homes... If the Chinese middle class was able to grow and flourish then China would have a more self sufficient economy with greater local consumption, so that even in this time when factories are moving to cheaper countries like in South East Asia the Chinese economy could be sustainable. I hope the chinese people see a bright future, they have come very far in just a few short decades.

this is the main issue. You guys don't even understand what true censorship means...
How it is to be unable to say what you want to say out of fear to go to jail or that something might happen to your family.
I'm German and I understand how the chinese must feel. Same shit went on in the GDR for 4 decades. No one could speak freely... heck even your son could be a spy and rat on you.
The news only broadcast lies and will never show anything bad about your country. And there is no alternative news, because all channels are blocked, controlled and closesly monitored by the state.
