- Ouroboros King Part 4 - in any other chess game, this would be completely unfair. But in Ouroboros King, everything is unfair so this fits right in. I'll need everything it takes to beat difficulty level 22. Enjoy!

Game already (probably) uses Fairy Stockfish. It’s open source and free. No reason *not* to.
@@9volt65 -- No way any form of stockfish is used here. Even at the highest AI difficulty the AI was making really weak moves.
I guess it could be stockfish but forced to make junk moves occasionally, but that feels bad.
Hi there, I'm Oriol the dev of the game. Sorry about the bug, all moves should've been bishop moves, it'll be fixed by release (Feb 27th). I'm also working on extra AI difficulty, but that may come in a patch after release. Thanks again for playing my game Tyler! :D

Chess roguelikes are possibly the nerdiest creations on this planet and I absolutely love them. Unfortunately I’m terrible at chess and can’t imagine I’d do much better at even more complicated versions of the game
The only other chess roguelike I can think of is pawnbarian. I wonder how many there actually are out there.

The immortal can be taken by a king/general but the king/general can't take it if it is protected.

The interaction between Assassin/Blade Dancer and Piece in a Bottle seems weird and under-defined, definitely questionable.
Dev has said it's a bug, all moves were supposed to be bishop moves in that last battle.
You know the weirdest thing, mounded king isn't mentioned, so it can be assumed they can't kill the immortal.

A general is any controlling unit on the board so counts anything including all king upgrades. Its phrasing is used in several chess games.

If the ai was too good, I’m not sure it’d even be possible to win. Either way it should totally affect difficulty rating.
I've played Chesscraft and CEO (Chess Evolved Online). Having an uncapturable piece that can capture other pieces is beyond broken. Probably worth around 28 points, if it can even be evaluated that way.
Also, if this game implemented the Fairy Stockfish chess engine, at max depth, you would lose. Be careful what you wish for.

I definitely hope this game gets more content updates, currently it seems cool but there's so much potential for more
I have to say blade dancer + bottles is kinda broken, I hope they nerf that a bit, otherwise you spend 300-400 gold and insta win the boss fights.
Yeah neither of them should be able to capture the king imo, except maybe if blade dancer does it as its first move. That and/or limit blade dancer to two moves.
Edit: also blade dancer's ability should be nullified under bottles. If it's supposed to move like a rook, it shouldn't get extra moves.
@@majickman or just make it unable to use bottles which is a significantly better option than nerfing a piece.
@@Subt0nix Blade dancer absolutely deserves a nerf even if bottles didn't exist. You can fork any two pieces and most of the time you can keep chaining from there until you capture the king, or at least wipe several pieces of the board in one turn. And even if your chain fails you get to retreat for free. It's by far the most powerful piece in the game right now.
If you're lucky enough, surround your king with them and nothing can checkmate you. Since Kings and Generals are the only pieces that can kill an Immortal, they can bypass your barrier, but since neither of you can move into check without losing, that isn't a good move so you can just sit back and relax while the enemy can't do anything (you need at least one other piece so you can attack).
As a great puppet chess master once said: When you get to the fork in the road, take it.
just wanna say that from my perspective the ai difficulty making their moves stronger is not a placebo and they played much better than before
8:57 just this edit alone makes me want to see Tyler play Age of Empires 2 (either HD of definitive edition), which is where the edit came from
with the difficulty thing at the end, its not like stockfish where it knows the best move at any possible time up to like 20 moves into the future. i think the dev just made an ai that thinks just a couple moves into the future since it isnt THAT smart tbh. at times it did make some actually really good plays, but obviously sometimes it blundered. hm, maybe thats why it isnt an engine and ai instead?
Please continue the "rook" or "check" memes they are my favorite reoccurring joke in this series.
For next episode you should play a normal round then a round with lowest AI to see how easy it is.

Blade dancer works with rocks! If you ever have a blade dancer and have the opportunity to get the shovel which places rocks you can sometimes win in 1 or 2 turns and sometimes you get a lot of pieces because of the combo

If he were to draw, he wouldn't get the reward for the map destination either. You always want checkmate.

Gotta say that any Bottle item with the Portal Mage is pretty broken.
The opponent’s King/General doesn't see the Portal Mage as a threat, but by using a bottle you can immediately take the King/General out.
Once i had an assasin and a room in a bottle relic and straight up solloed eida lol
In the marsh of madness level 6 you could have used rook in the bottle on immortal and move to the square right in front of tabetha, and its defended by agent +, meaning you would have won on move 2
mounted king's really good because it can checkmate and take a normal king in a one v one.

Maybe I'm not fully understanding the rules or I'm just missing something, but I believe that Tyler could've just ended the match at 9:55 with his Blade Dancer. Using the top left of the board as the origin, if he'd moved through the portal and taken the Pegasus at F4, then the Rook at F2, the Bishop at D2, then the General/King at F1, that would've been game right then.
Edit: After reviewing the description of the Blade Dancer, it moves by "jumping," so maybe it can't use portals. If so, that's kinda dumb, but probably done that way specifically to not make that piece too OP.

draw-on-offer run? if the opponent wishes to draw, you must abide by it. You can kill the king early, but that is the only time you can. (instances like the end where blade dancer wins wouldn't count)
