0:00 Yes, because normal chess starts with only 6 pieces on the board and a rock in the middle.
Idk that looks perfectly normal to me.
could be a chess puzzle.
@@jort93z true
@@jort93z Not with a rock in the middle.
@@alansmithee419 True, normally they put a pawn or something there to block stuff.

That last battle was disustingly hilarous
I was wondering why the enemy king was not killing the rook. Then I remembered about the spiked shield. Amazing stuff.
The best play for the AI would be to sacrifice one of the better units by taking the rook immediately but it didn't which allowed Tyler to chain the takes. The AI doesn't look very far ahead, and arguably only looks 1 move ahead or else it would see this cascade and try to prevent it.
Di *- S U S -* tingly?
@@Viscidsquare040nOOOOO
@@BenRHarsh actually because of the spiked shield there wasn’t any opportunity for the AI to take the rook that wouldn’t have gotten the king killed.
damn the editing here at 10:13 had me fooled. i am now very much hyped for this series if just this episode for the game is already this good
OMG I didn't even realize it was an edit lolol it was gooood

Hi, I'm Oriol the developer of the game. I had a blast watching the video, that was some really impressive and thoughtful play, congratulations!
I'll make sure to fix the "moving through portal" animations and add a description for the stalemate.
Really glad you liked it!
Wow good game, you can Make the "FLOWER" like a troop that Its the Witch Queen but can only atack If It jumps
How can one get this version of the game? I only have the demo and all thoe things arent in my game somehow
@@darkkirbygod Full game comes out on Feb 27th (next Monday) and it'll cost 9.99$.
looks very fun im gonna pick it up when it comes out for sure
@@frederickpollmeier1861 lucky you, it came out on monday ;)
I love that the final match was hyped up with "look, all the pieces that were giving me troubles are on the board at once!" Then an immediate sweep, it really shows how powerful his deck ended up!
The ai could have played smarter but eould have still been overwhelmed
The relics really carried this victory.
With improved ai and some visual polish this could be a really good game
It already is
we need to train stockfish for this
@@Manchweld it's kind of annoying that the AI is so stupid sometimes though
yeah, like what's the deal with the description of movement in words? They can VERY easily add a graphical representation for that
@@xicufwm I feel like some movements would be kinda hard to show in a graphic. Like the Pegasus can travel a very long distance so the graphic would have to be very big and in general they would probably have to be big to show the difference between infinite and finite move lengths for some units. Text descriptions also help explain the technicalities of each piece’s movement which can tell you things like exactly how it might get blocked by obstacles.
However it would still be a great addition and simplify some pieces massively. There’s a piece that wasn’t in this video but I found in the demo called the Blade Dancer and it’s description was like “moves 2 spaces vertically and up to 2 spaces horizontally or vice versa” which was pretty confusing. It was a lot simpler to understand once I saw visually that it basically just moved on the edges of a square around itself with side lengths of 5.
OH THANK GOD TYLER I WAS HOPING YOU WOULD PLAY THIS

Finally, after 500 years of waiting, the game got an update!!
Man this editor is just straight up fire! That edit for moving the pieces at 10:15 while you described the play was amazing.
The moving the camera through the portal is great too
This game would be one of the best if upon hovering over the piece to see its movements, to show a graphic alongside it, kind of like Shotgun King
that final match was hilarious 18:20
I wanna see more of this series
That's like starting the tutorial of Slay The Spire and somehow unlocking Ascension with that run.
BY KILLING THE HEART !
Well the enemy shouldve just traded one of the queens instead of keep castling
@@darkkirbygod They coudnt
I had heard about this game and I see it’s as interesting as I expected…
Also, it’s cool you have the platforms on the video now. Makes it a bit easier to know.
it would be better if they animated the added move like animated the move to the portal first then after they go through the portal, or like a pegasus that has 2 L move. it'll make the game look more refined and pleasing to look. and it will make the game a lot less confusing when they introduce a complex piece to the board.
Oh, I love this! Really easy to watch even as a person who doesn't play chess, and the editing was great! Your content has really stepped up over the past year or two, and I'm enjoying it a lot.
The editing on this channel has improved so much over the past few years
Its a lot easier to follow Tyler's 400IQ plays now
And it is much appreciated!
i love this game so much, please make this a full series
This is one of the most interesting games you've covered
This game fits so well on the channel, I would love to see more!
I'm sure somebody has pointed out but the 17:30 situation is that if andromeda moves then black loses because the fool would then take king. Killing nobles indeed.
It my civil duty to say chess battle advanced
Chess battle advanced.
Chess battle advanced
chess battle advanced
Thanks for the videos! Really enjoying your playlists!
This looks cool. I hope we get more SG king, and for that I hope the trick you tried worked
I feel like it is even more interesting to play than to watch. Would love to see more, though! What a game
I can’t wait for this. I hope this becomes a steady series once the game releases!
Can't wait to see more of this! Was an awesome video to watch, and shoutout to Dan for some top tier editing :)

I think the way in which this is useful is it lets you strategically get rid of certain pieces that are blocking some of your pieces paths
Yes I've been asking for this in your Shotgun King playthrough 🥳
The final scene is magnus’ head love the detail
I love this game, glad to see it on your channel!
A better idea for catapult would be “takes 1 turn to charge / reload, and then attacks any square that doesn’t have a piece guarding it vertically, horizontally, or diagonally
This game was really interesting! I'm also a sucker for the roguelike genre, so I for one, would love to see more.
I’ve been waiting for you to play this game!
This game reminds me of of the chess variant played in Murakami’s Hardboiled Wonderland and the End of the World - amazing stuff!
Will watch more of these
I am excited to see more of this game.
Heck yes! This looks like so much fun!
Final match hype and quick sweep showcased a powerful deck!
When I think of good editing I think of you, best editing on YT hands down
I love this game, please make this a series
Man, I hope he plays more of this.
I really love this idea!
Love to see more of this game
Just realised that keeping someone in check is definitely a chess reference
Like what!?, I never thought about it and then, boom, big realisation
I loved the video keep up the good work!
I wasn't aware anarchychess made a game
Google en passant
I WAS WAITING FOR THIS!!!!
Finally, Chess 2 is out

5:02 actually, it made 2 orthogonal moves, exploiting the portal.
I would love to see more of this game it was really cool, (I already wishlisted it).
Is he playing as medieval Magnus Carlsen?
Yes
Every video I watch makes me appreciate your editor more and more.
So happy you're playing this game!
Been waiting for you to try this out.
6:40 and 9:44 are absolutely hilarious Tyler you have the best editors
10:55 im pretty sure you could've blocked the check with your knight rider; knight riders can move twice, but can't jump over the first square it lands on before it jumps to the second one
Very interesting game!
OO this is really interesting. I hope you paly more
5:00 actually I think it went down twice into the portal below and thus went out of the portal to the left of your rook. The onscreen description for the Viking doesn’t say it can move diagonally and as you found out immediately after, the game doesn’t show the process of portal moves-only their results.
I'm pretty sure you're right. The other thing is that the portal adds one square of movement to what it feels like it should: the Viking looks like it can only reach the portal but wouldn't have moves left to go down, but that's not how the portal works, reaching it is enough.
@@DavidGuild yeah the portal seems to sort of duplicate the move into the portal to find a suitable location (somewhere not on top of a portal) to place the piece once it exits the portal.
after thousands of years chess got an update
I love this and the little edits make the game a little more fun for eagle eyes viewers so it’s not to distracting great content 😊
Huh. Seems like another actually fun chess game. I didn't know that such a thing could exist, but now between this and SG King, you've shown that not one but at least two exist, maybe more. Fascinating.
17:30 This was a much better fork than you thought it was, because if Black moves Andromeda, your Fool immediately takes the black General. The Fool seems hard to use, but it seems like it can sort of "pin" very powerful pieces from anywhere on the board, by being that move away from the enemy General.
Cool to see this played by someone who's actually good at it.
Backstabbing knife is mostly useful with assassin and blade dancer, although blade dancer is broken regardless, especially with the rock breaking passive and rock placing passive
This game looks amazing! A shame I don't understand chess too well, but your editors are doing a lot to help
Was literally just looking at this on steam, crazy
I would love a 10+ videos series, where you explore and exploit all the builds
This looks sick!
I played this game today and I wish I can see you play it,my wish came true quite fast
This seems like a pretty cool game!
Love it!
This game looks amazing maybe just a little more polishing but the gameplay is fantastic
That Bossfight was so intense
Yo this is sick. I wan a play this now now
Finally
A Chess DLC we've been waiting couple thousand years
all i can say is oh no... the chess pieces are evolving.
evolution does not favor the pawns.
omg, i saw this game on a nother channel, but since i don't have the Patreon, i didn't think i would see this on this channel
seems really fun
Hope this becomes a series
Its my first time watching a vid from this channel when i saw this vid i subbed
Love this
9:10 You missed a pin which would lead to victory after the king moves then you capture.
The editing is incredible
dan and ben have to be fighting for a payraise or something
awesome content!
I love how the picture of the king at the end is magnus carlson
The amount of times I had to rewind this to understand haha
Yess! So exciting
That was cool!
thank you tyler for playing chess but not chess
After waiting 1000 years it finally updated
17:30 it couldnt move andromida since your jester would then be able to take his king, so the AI couldnt do much other than break the 'pin'
This is awesome
At 17:30 the reason Andromeda didn't take was because after your fool recaptures, the Agent X would not actually be able to take your Pegasus. If it did, the Fool would gain the movement of a Bishop, allowing it to take the black King.
I love chess variant games they are so awesome
Seems like fun, would be nice with visuals as if it weren't a game of chess.
I'd really like you to look into crosscode!! the puzzles are so good and satisfying
This, this is good.
