okay but with the armoured factory vs military base stuff you got to remember that military base was created first, and they officially leaked the rework first. don't even get me started on "oooh but they did the teaser 2 years ago" well with that logic, TDX copied because military base was released 5 years ago. ppl don't even take 10 seconds to learn the history of the 2 towers and they js look at one and say "yep that's a copy".
Yeah, and they would never do something and instantly show it to public, military base was probably done already before they leaked first image + off topic, john on livestream said that refractor and war machine towers are done but will come in around 2025 and we didn't get really much leaks about them, so we can't say that first leak date is when they started to work at that thing

I like how everyone think that the devs John were so friendly with all these years turned on him the second he made his own game, like I doubt there that much of vultures
The problem is not whether or not TDS copied, (they undoubtably did), it is the lack of credit that TDS gives to the original creators. John brushed over this a couple years ago in one of the videos he did regarding the debate. He mentioned that the tensions were high between Below and Plan3t because Plan3t simply wanted the recognition he deserved while Below refused to give credit.
Also the arguments that BTD is the first tower defense game and all other tower defense games need to bow down to it is absolutely ludicrous. With this same style of thinking, one could say Space Invaders (look it up) is the first tower defense game. Then you could argue that Rampart (look it up) is the first tower defense game. Then you could follow the timeline to Gem Tower Defense, then Flash Element TD; The list goes on and on all the way to modern day tower defense games such as TDX, TDS, and BTD6. There were plenty more games both before and after BTD so the argument that it was the first is 100% invalid.

@@ivan.2050 this isnt a competition the ''this game was first people'' are just dumb overall thinking a first game of a genre is original and rest is copies the only reason they think that way is because issues about tds copying tb and tdx though its overall a retarded mindset different games in same or similar genres can add unique takes new original content and so much about competition its not true at all considering the fact tds is overall the most popular td in roblox game that has a very active fanbase despite that game literally doesnt even have their own ideas most of the time they usually steal dirrectly steal its not inspiring its just slightly different keyword slightly the fact they also dont give any credits and overall ignore the issue completly proves they dont even care about it and expect it to be shrugged off eventually
The amount of comments I see that say they copied is wild. Some fans just think that their favorite game invented people holding grenades or guns, it’s just sad
They did tho, they literally got every tower and decided to make original ones after they finished. The gameplay is still different but the concept of the towers is not.

I'm not sure how related this is to the video, but I think it's worth pointing out that part of the reason TDS surpassed Tower Battles' popularity so easily, even with the blatant copying in the designs in the early days of TDS (which haven't strayed away extremely far), is because Planet hasn't really updated Tower Battles very often at all. People tend to jump on the "lazy" bandwagon when it comes to these sorts of developers for these games, but a handful of years ago planet mentioned the lack of updates/time for him to update being from a bunch of IRL stuff, at some point mentioning that he was double majoring engineering and psych at a university, and while time has passed since he brought that up (which makes me think he's finished with that now), I wouldn't put it past him to be focusing more on other personal stuff as well. He even mentioned that the success Tower Battles had was able to pay for his college tuition. (I think planet's also mentioned motivation being a big problem when it's come to updating tower battles, but I'm not 100% sure)

This "copying" thing is a really dumb idea, i am also making a TD game and taking inspirations from other games (Ultrakill mostly), people just hate a lot of the competition like TDS and TDX even tho we all know that the BTD franchise is the beggining of the popularity of the TD genre.
I agree with you, people are gonna be so mad at you just for taking an idea of a guy with a gun or just a spawner building. Even if they have different stats or mechanics. They are gonna see you as COPYING just for that ;-;

Yeah, sadly the td game follow the second path is more popular rn. Like look at TTD and Anime Defense, they are more players than TDS and TDX who follow the first path.
@@PhatTran-nw9ri TTD is just because skibidi toilet is popular and all the kids are playing their game, and Anime Defenders is just filled with a bunch of afk bots gambling. TDS and TDX have much more loyal players and a fanbase that actually play the game because its fun, not because it is based off of their favorite tv show. If TTD changed their branding to something different rather than skbidi toilet but actually improved the game all around, it would actually KILL its whole fanbase because the fanbase is based off of skibidi toilet watchers. Or, if skibidi toilet ends after a while and the game has no more updates, the players will slowly but surely decline while TDS and TDX keep going up because TDS will constantly have updates since it's not based on something that would eventually end, and TDX is still a newly released game and has a bright future ahead of it to continue growing.

Yes it is a bad thing. Below practically acts like the other games don’t exist, never giving any credit to them, this is mostly copying from tds, but even if you argue it’s inspiration they still should’ve given credit, but they don’t.
I'll be honest here, if you couldn't copy any ideas, then we would run out of games quickly

In fact, TDS copies, but now it takes existing things and does it in a different way, for example the mercenary base that has the same barracks system with several changes like the plane that brings the mercenaries, the riot that rushes and other things.
and you have to put it near the track for it to work and if you want the dmg buff, you have to put it in your main defense which can take up a lot of space but is still really good for mid-late game

Tds main deal was the great events but today it is just reworking sim and when they copied tb they tried to overcome them by cheap diffirences while tdx added way more original things and collabed with tb

Inspired is one thing, copying is something else. Copying i feel like is just stealing it. If you use a similar idea thats fine if you change it, but if you just take it then that's my issue.

I don't support modern TD games on Roblox as much anymore specifically because of the copying from other games being so blatantly obvious. Old TDS was great, it was a breath of fresh air after Planet hadn't updated TB as much as before. Now it took on it's own style and new mechanics, but that doesn't make up for the "copying" of other game mechanics. For example, TDS has taken several ideas from TDX and TB seemingly without credit. Now who knows, Below might be in contact with John or Planet, but that doesn't excuse the several ideas taken from each game without credit. Aside from the similarities, I believe all 3 of these games are in it's own league. Yes, I might have just dogged on TDS for it's blatant stealing of ideas, but at least they're trying to step away from the original game mechanics that had been taken from Planet at first (ex. rebalancing towers and reworking them to work differently to the TB counterpart). That's very respectable.

Tdx dosen't have attack buff perk or tds don't really have rappid airstrike perk, people just keep looking for a way to make war. That's what make us human so normal??? The concept of military warfare is nothing new, and both games would likely have some similarities with thier towers if they're based of it. We can agree a person with a gun have exist already.
So playing one of these games, you can understand that this tower have this kind of role for example : Sniper, high damage, long range but slow firerate. And you can apply that to other (and many) game and don't have to relearn everything.
They didn't willing to "copy", just didnt share things too distant from eachother.
And in the end.. it was all the War Without a reason..

I think games copying each other can lead to newer / more polished versions of the those games. TDS (before tdx), was TB but more further polished, and in a more childish style to appeal to a larger audience, which also let it grow bigger and ultimately becoming the better game.
Imagine a whole TB x TDS x TDX collab(it will never happen)

It's really hard to make any original ideas especially since many ideas have already been explored by this point. Maybe there are 1 or 2 things that are completely new like towers or gimmicks but other than that, every tower defense game will always be somewhat similar to each other (i mean, btd6 predates all these roblox td games and it has a ton of stuff in it)

The reason why people only care when tds is copying anything bc below did something bad in 2020 and he has not apologized for everything that happen in that year till this day,and keep taking planet's idea, especially the new commander update recently is 1:1 tb commander, at least john contact planet first even he directly made tdx as tb sequel. You must look for planet's old chat to see how much damage below did to him.

Both games are good, isn't that obvious? TDS Got more cartoonish style, more UNIVERSAL to teenagers, children, and basically everyone, while TDX got more military, close to realism style, with not so like year 3000 plasma tank e.t.c. My personal thing, because i like weapons, armory e.t.c, i prefer tdx, but i play tds with friends, because it's good too, just badly optimized, that's all.
