    It litterally sounds like a guitar with a chorus and slight reverb built in! OMG That sounds IMMACULATE!

      I bought one used and when I play Boston songs or licks and other stuff it does have that chorus reverby effect it's great the guitar sounds even better playing it.

    I've had several 12 stringers over the last 50 years ... and THIS is definitely my favourite! I usually change the strings down to thinner gauges, but for this guitar, I tuned it down to Open D, to stick with the Elixir strings that came with it, as per Mr. Taylor's recommendation. And yes, definitely a beautiful sounding guitar!!

    Tony - I always enjoy and appreciate your reviews. There is just one thing I'd like to see, though. I would appreciate it if you would review a Larrivee acoustic occasionally. Now that you're no longer working for Music Villa, a store that doesn't stock Larrivee, might you be able to review a Larrivee once in a while? Seeing you go through your usual playing routine for demos/reviews on a Larrivee would bring me serious happiness. Peace and best wishes.

    I like the idea of a small 12 string that can be amped. But I wish there was a more economical version. Many of the design choices that inflate the price will have little imapct on the sound and playability. They are either purely aesthetic or else make only the slightest difference in tone.

    • @pickerdad8402
      @pickerdad8402 Před 4 lety

      Hey, Mark O., I had the opportunity to play the full Taylor line from 1xx to 9xx at a recent (07/2019) guitar show. There is definitely an easily perceived improvement in tone and responsiveness for each step. The 5xx series is where magic begins to happen; the 8xx is close to the magical quality of a vintage handmade instrument by a top luthier. :-). Remember, a fine guitar like this one is an investment; their value only increases over time. Much faster than inflation, and often faster than stocks or other financial products.

    Hi, do you have a review on the Taylor 555 12string? Is it really necessary to tune the Taylor to E standard or stick with D tuning? I notice your using a micrphone. Are you recording the audio with that? I have 3 sets of Oktava MK- 012-01 with two attachments and have never used them. Thanks.

      Mario, I have a 1987 555 Jumbo 12 and it's fine in E standard. Adjusting the neck on a Taylor 12 is very easy. There are even instructions on CZcams via the Taylor factory. Just forget about barre chords on a 12. Kottke made me feel so much better after he confirmed that crisp barre chords are impossible on a 12. I always thought there was something wrong with my Taylor, but I was expecting the impossible.

      Best thumb picks are made by John Pearse. Next best Fred Kelly's slick pick. There are some boutique thumb picks out there for $35-$75 each but I don't think there any better than the two I listed.

    Hey Tony,
    I always have been a great fan of Taylor acoustic guitars, however never had one.
    Now, I am just starting to learn first and after that, I am going to buy a Taylor Jumbo 12 string.
    I have been looking online, trying to understand Jumbo models, and specs of each model. For example I don't know the difference between 855, 655, 455 or 355 etc.
    Basically, my personal taste would be a Taylor 12 jumbo full body (non cutaway) all solid, but not new...probably something from 2006 back.
    I would like to know which models were available, which types of wood were used back there, inlays available, specs wise and etc.
    Can you suggest any link, or provide reading material to learn all the differences between the models?
    Or even if you can tell me the whole story.
    Thank you!
