I'm glad you enjoyed Destroy the Day. It left me a bit underwhelmed. There was so much I like about it but the only part that elicited emotion was that one part at the end which did make me tear up. I did like the series overall; I loved how it went into the politics so much.
I tried to read Powerless but didn't find it very interesting so barely got to chapter 3 before it had to be returned to the library. I have a Libby hold on it coming soon so I'll give it one more try to see if it was a wrong book/wrong time thing or if I don't actually like it.
My February favorite was Into the Heartless Wood, which is a very dark fairytale in a ghibli/cottagecore world. Tree sirens lure people to their deaths, and the male main character is one of those lured but the siren saves his life instead. The writing was lovely.

Destroy the Day made me cry like a baby. It really played with my emotions and I love this series and author! (You should read her other books, I really enjoy them!) I’m sad you didn’t like Powerless but it’s totally understandable. I did rate it 5 both times I’ve read it, but I do want more politics in the next books. I’ve always thought it was more rivals/we can’t like each other to lovers. When people categorize it as enemies to lovers I get upset 😭😂

I’m SO glad you enjoyed Destroy the Day too!!!
      *Spoilers*
I legitimately freaked out when I thought a certain person was dead at the end! And I cried at that last chapter!! I was so happy with everything that happened 🥹🥹🥹.
And I’m also really glad you enjoyed Powerless! I hope there is more politics in books 2 and 3!! Idk HOW Kai is going to defy his brother?!
And YES! Immediately when I wrote my review I was like, yep this is enemies to lovers and when I filmed this I thought… actually no. Kai never viewed Paedyn that way!

@@katreadsit Yes! Even Paedyn liked Kai from the beginning, she tried not to but she truly did.

My reading month was all over the place too 😅 I started reading books blind because the reviews spoil my experience and my expectations and because i'm a fantasy reader I stumbled upon a bunch of really weird scenarios 😅 Mostly orgies alot of orgies 😐😐😐 a lot of stuff i wasn't expecting and needless to say I dnf alot of books after a couple of pages 😐

I have actually been thinking of going into books more blindly(reviews can totally be hit or miss- it’s like roulette looking at them) But that’s definitely sounds like an unexpected surprise as a result 😂. Here’s hoping March yields reads that are a better fit for you 🥰.

@@katreadsit I wanted to form my own opinions and not just go from others because it's ruined my experience with a few books and I don't want that to happen again 😅 I'm going to start googling what kind of relationship the couple in the book has so I can at least know what i'm getting into 😐 Thank you hope you're march reads are better as well 😊
And if you don't mind me asking did you read from blood and ash ? And is it safe to read 😂

I wanna read literally all this books, but I’m currently in a reading slump 😢 I’m rereading some of my favorites and reading the Shadow and Bone trilogy at the same time so I can get back. Any additional tips? ❤

Oh NO!!! Reading slumps are the WORST! I think you’re one the right track! My go tips are to reread a fave or a few and if that doesn’t work than I try to take a break from reading. In December I think I read maybe 1 book? Nothing was working so I just took some time off and then I was back!! 🥰 here’s hoping that rereading shadow and bone will do the trick!!

my main problem with Powerless was the romance, I thought the way they were acting was more of a 'fake dating / I have feelings but have to pretend I don't because the other person can't possibly have feelings for me' type of trope, and then throw in the bit of flirting / love triangle but it's not really with the brother and just ugh. eff off. I don't need / want full on smut and spice but just. either be a couple or don't. and don't fuck around with the brother unless you're going to be in a relationship with him as well. I don't know, I was just very annoyed by the whole thing, can you tell??? :p The other story bits didn't bother me because I've not read enough fantasy to know what I should or shouldn't be missing, if that makes sense. I also bought Next of Kin when I saw it on sale, I don't know when I will be reading it but hopefully sometime this year? ps. diarrhea

      I COULDN’T AGREE MORE!! Well said 👏.
I didn’t wanna mention any of the love/love triangle stuff in my spoiler free review but I fully agree. (I genuinely felt bad for Kitt at one point…) It felt unnecessary but also half in half out? I needed more focus on one relationship. Also how are those brothers NOT communicating more about their feelings for Pae with each other? We got moments of jealously from Kai but his brother was… aware of Kai and Pae but didn’t care if he got to be with Pae instead of Kai being with her!? It needed more flushing out for me for sure.
Also Next of Kin!! I hope you like it. It’s not a perfectly flawless read, but it is entertaining and has a lot of heart/representation. Definitely let me know what you think when you read it 🥰 (whether it’s a win or not - I’m about open for a book chat ☺️)
