      well...there are two important character that isn't present in this game. You need two sacrifices for the final fight in the first game. The original two out four heroes are present in this game, and one of them have been with the crusader since the beginning of his journey on the old road.
      Take a guess.

    • @zeta1593
      @zeta1593 Před 2 lety +16

      I'd say more that the plague doctor is overly rationnal to flee from the hard realities, but you can feel she lost some of her mind;
      The Grave Robber has that hopeless feel of "I've quitted everything for treasure, and now I am the last hope of a money-less society". Such bittersweet in her!
      Hasn't Dismas found some redemption?
      I love so much the Man-at-arms back story. The selfish rich officer that is haunted by his own incompetence, and now he has to fight like the mediocre soldier he was. But in the dark corner of the Hamlet, he found himself the soul of a true hero.
      Dismas and barristan always ends up being lovers in my playthrough lol

    What I really like about this piece how it runs parallel to the campfire theme from DD1. I love how it emanates a pervasive sense of weariness, fatigue and gloom in lieu of the sweet and delicate peace of a campfire.This thick atmosphere where the proverbial walls creeping in ever closer and closer as the light threatens to dim at this dilapidated shoddy inn

    Hmm, how to describe it? It has both a feeling of respite, but also this bleak "How long do we have to do this, until finally something changes?" feeling to it. The last part especially sounds like the local church quoir is singing to encourage.
    I think saying that this is a great piece of music is both superfluous at this point and a massive understatement. Waiting in Germany until 1 a.m. in the morning is definitely worth it. Hope i can still sleep and are not humming the melody in my head all night.^^

    Stuart. With this the Inn feels more like a place haunted by the heroes that have come and gone in the service of the player. The Inn feels less like a place of respite and rest and much more like a gate to the afterlife, like it's the last place so many heroes drank their last before setting off on the expedition that would take their life. So many have left this place and not come back, certainly it is only a matter of time before your last visit to the inn arrives.
    Your work has always communicated the themes of the game so well but you nailed it here, making me see an Inn a way I've never imagined before.

    I absolute admire how masterfully this soundtrack paints the athmosphere of the moment.
    Even in this short period of respite from the madness outside of these walls, there is no true peace of mind. The melancholy reminds you of the horrifyingly tragic transformation the world we knew has undergone, and it might never return back to the old times, and the slight undertone of uncanny portrays the feeling of dread that sooner or later, we have to return to this hellscape perfectly.
    As it managed to make me tear up, I can easily call it one of my all-time favorite videogame music pieces. Chef's kiss from Belgium, absolutely pristine!

    One of vidya production's biggest rules: if your save room / safe area / save screen theme cannot be made into a 10-hour extended version, you have failed as a composer. This one obviously passes that test.

    • @StuartChatwood
      @StuartChatwood  Před 2 lety

      I’ve noticed a demand for extended versions from the first game and I made some of the new cues longer. 10 hrs though…that might be zen like.

    I have no idea how it happened, but I realised that somehow, in a twisted sense, a turn to major in this melody is not a resolution. Mechanically it is, but due to all the minute details (like keeping the melody oh the dominant instead of moving to the tonic) it doesn't _feel_ right to end there. Despite whatever gain we might find, the solace is not staying with us. Even in these walls, the darkness holds dominion.
