- Walleye fishing with slip bobber is very effective! When live bait needs to be presented above the fish a slip bobber is almost always the go to. Although it may seem seem simple, there are many small details that will determine your success. In this video Tom Boley breaks down his favorite way to rig a slip bobber for summer time walleyes. A slip bobber is pretty useless unless you are around fish. Tom breaks down how he uses side imaging, sonar and down imaging to find walleye and present his slip bobbers to them. The early summer and mid summer periods are ideal slip bobber times here in northern Wisconsin and these are some fishing tips you are gonna want to hear! Thanks for watching!
Got these thinking they were the slightly larger Panfish floats czcams.com/users/postUgkx_rJB7cli5f1ofPVGgn80S7Yj4vqwq0gU they work just fine. The smaller size lets me carry more in my tackle box, and the 3 color choices are nice for different lighting conditions, backgrounds, etc. They aren't the most durable things in the world. But, as cheap as they are, it's not heartbreaking to lose one or have to replace a worn one. The price on these fluctuates wildly, from about $9 to almost $16. So, time your buy accordingly.
I had the pleasure of fishing with Tom about a week ago, we were on the same bite. We had an absolute blast catching walleyes. If you guys are ever in the Hayward area take the opportunity to fish with this guy, you will not be disappointed. He is upfront, honest and will do everything he can to keep you on the fish.
Thank you for explaining the side imaging element!
Outstanding demonstration!
Love that. Going back a watching some older videos. Great setup !! HOOKED UP !!
Very informative...great job Tom
Nice job guys! Definitely my favorite way to catch walleyes. I see so many anglers out there trolling with boards all day but I'll take this method over that any day! Much more fun in my opinion. Loved the vid!
One of the best walleye channels on CZcams! Keep making great vids!
Thanks man!
THANK YOU TOM For the info, Great video!!!
Just got a Hummingbird with SI. Awesome breakdown starting at 7:30. This’ll help me a ton!
Some of the best info. Thank you
Great info!! Well done!!
Your vids never disappoint!
*These are easy to use and highly visible **enjoyable.fishing** recommend they are extremely valuable for going from a dead drift set up to a float setup. They save time and you don't have to re-tie everything to add a float to your presentation.*
That last comment sums it up, "having to much fun, it's hard to leave"
Great video
The leader has zero stretch to it czcams.com/users/postUgkxOnWw4BwVtrW450xWozo3OpVX4931NDw5 which is expected from a wire leader. Can’t test the quality of all the snaps yet but packaging was nice and neat and I couldn’t get anything to happen when I pulled on it.
Just learning about slip bobber fishing... Gonna try drifting for eyes with this method this weekend....
Good video and information
Nice fish guys. Go get em
Good tips
Awesome vid!
Me and my buds are heading up to the Plum/ Trout Lake area in late May. I am wondering if anyone knows if this set up would be effective? We really wanna hit the trout since they're hard to find where we're from... I was told minnows are the way to go, but I will use leeches if those are the trick..?
Hooked up ur one of the best eye fisherman
Great video! Curious as to what is the deepest you would use this setup? Also what months do you fish this method? It looks like a blast and I’d like to try it in eastern Tennessee where I fish.
Nice video! Quick question what boat do have? I love how wide and open it is. If you have a video on your boat let me know. Thanks in advance for the info, - Tight lines be healthy!
Throw back Monday
I noticed there are quite a few different types of bobber stops. Which one is your favorite? I'm looking for one that doesn't move and easily glides threw the rods guides.
Won't be in Hayward in a couple weeks but will be on Long Lake. Hoping to find some nice walleyes. Only caught 2 last year.
Good luck
You ever want to come up to Winnipeg and slam some huge walleyes and jack give me a pm. Awesome vid. Keep up the good work
How do you determine where ( depth) of your slip bobber? Thanks
how high above the bottom/ fish do you set hook to,
Tom, after the bobbers down how long do you wait to set the hook? So its not to deep or get a miss.
What size swivel are you using? and what brand of mono to you guys use
Thill Wobble Bobber* if anyone is curious.
What stops the slip bobber on your line for depth??Do you just drop on the bottom
those are some dark walleye, dont get like that around here. great video keep up the good work
How do hook the leach on your 1/16 jig head with the short shank hook
what type of stoppers did u use?
How do you set up slip bobber? Thanks
Tom, what is the make and model of your boat?
How do you target walleyes during the winter but on a river that never freezes
Do you let the bobber slide all the way up your line or only so far
Hey TB - excellent vid, can't thank you enough for sharing the info. What is your rule of thumb on setting the bobber stop at in relation to the fish on the bottom?
2 to 6 feet up
Thanks - that will be very helpful!
@@TomBoleyAppreciate your reply. Was wondering the same thing.
I can see the walleye on your side images. Did you not see them? easier to spot then the down scan image
Awesome video. I fish walleye on Mille Lacs lake About 26 FOW. With the Same bobber, same egg weight, same swivel, braided line on reel, and 3 foot of 10 pound fleurocarbon tied onto a plain orange #4 hook. Sometimes when I crank up after I don't get a bite for a while my leech and the fleurocarbon are wrapped up around the swivel and egg sinker! Does this ever happen to you?? If so what can I do to make this not happen? Thanks for your help
Thanks for your reply......
Use a 1/16 oz. jig in your favorite color and the leach would have to work very hard to swim upwards and around your swivel.
Tom any success by tipping the jig/hook with a type of plastic or Max Scent? If so any preferred model color and size? Thanks
Just a leech
so if i am right 3feet under bobber ur gonna land 20-25 feet waleye ? im new to these
Do you add a bobber stop above the bobber ?
Cool! What’s the bait?
You just earned a sub by putting that random guy on some fish.
what is the point of using a small sliding sinker like that though instead of a split shot?
You will have a lot more hookups if you use a pencil type slip bobber like a venom or wave buster, almost no resistance when fish are pulling it under. The line slide is also on the bottom of these floats rather than the top, the line slides through much easier and can also be used when ice fishing. Also no need for a two hand hook set with walleye, simply raise the rod keeping steady pressure, the "big jerk" will pull your lure out if not hooked really well.
Bob Chapman you have infinite wisdom.
You’re really going to tell Tom how to fish?? LMAO
How far up does the bobber stop?
How are you setting your depth for each location? Just a depth weight and checking How far off the bottom?
Guessing
Which lake is this?
Hey, did you have to drill that Thill bobber to get your line through it?
Haha....no...get a bobbin threader.
Easy hack is to cut about a 6 inch length off the end of a steel leader. Use side cutters to cut the swivel off but leave the wire loop on the leader intact. Feed your fishing line into the loop far enough that you have 4 to 6 inches on the tag end. Then feed the cut end of the leader down through the slip bobber and pull the loop end through. As long as the tag end is longer than the bobber, the line should pull right through.
Tom what is the deepest water I can slip bobber fish
30 prob
Not even enough time to blow a fish whistle! Crushing
What’s size thill bobber are you using?
3/8
what I don't understand is, if you have a slip bobber, how is the bobber sinking under water when a bite is on if the bobber is not pegged down ??
Snip bobber knor
thanks @Tom Boley I really want to get into that style of fishing this year and you seem to have it ON POINT lol...you most def have a new sub :) thanks for answering me.
Do you use worms?
If you're fishing in 50' of water how do you know where to put the stop?
I guess I've never slip bobbed deeper than 25 ish
Haha. I misheard you in the video...15’makes a lot more sense.
great tips man, you gonna have any ICE fishing videos!?
Absolutely
@@TomBoley my guy! I've been struggling with catching eyes for this past year and wanna dial em in! Your vids help a lot A+. Keep it up man. Sharpshooting is on my list!!
I dint know how you do it. I fish all day for walleye and catch a walleye to save my life.
What graph do you use?
Helix 10 mega
Tom Boley Thanks! You have any other videos showing the use of your sonar? Great videos man!
A few but we will be doing much more.
Never addressed how to set bobber depth. Probably obvious to you but judging from the comments I’m not the only one confused.
Where are you fishing
Hayward area lakes
Dink city!!!
Did I miss something? You never said, why use a slip bobber, or when to use one, or how to use one, or, what is a slip bobber and how does it work? Nice video though anyway, rock on bro!
ever try dynamite?
how about just getting right to the bobber im out
Why not just go go with Fluorocarbon only ???
Z
fishing has almost become too easy with all this tech.
