  • Hey guys! Welcome to MY first Dreamliner flight on the channel, a United Airlines B787-9 over to Chicago, Illinois from San Francisco, California. I overall really enjoyed the experience and combined with additional 787 flights I would take in the months ahead, it has quickly become one of my favorite planes to fly. The crew onboard and the service also really made this particular flight for me, especially because of how stingy airlines are getting in the food & drink department nowadays. Having a choice of beverage and multiple snacks in Economy is very good. The hard product on United's 787s are also pretty decent and should be fine for long haul flights. If you find yourself on a shorter domestic flight like this one, it'll be more than fine. Hope you guys enjoy!

I have flown Honolulu to Chicago direct on the Dreamliner and LOVE it. Of course, I fly Polaris first class (the only way to fly). Worth every penny and I can’t wait to fly Dreamliner again.

As a ramper for UA at SFO, if you find yourself in this same situation again, there is an airside connection between T3 and the G gates. You can clear security close to where you checked in and then walk over airside which affords some awesome apron views along the way between the two terminals.

@@thejazzguy13 welcome to the Bay Area! Another cool spotting place at SFO is garage G at the air train station. You can see the widebody movement on the opposite side of the pier that you flew out of. And lastly, there’s a viewing deck at end of the G gates. It may have been closed for a while when you filmed this but I think it’s open once again. There’s another viewing deck in T-2 that’s accessible to everyone as it’s pre-security that just reopened too.

Nice video. You probably never really noticed while going over Nebraska, the dry, unpopulated west turns into the humid more populated east. You flew right over the sandhills and cowboy country, the Ogallala aquifer with center pivot irrigation (the circles) then onto eastern Nebraska where irrigation wasn't necessary anymore. If you flew this same route at night you would notice that small towns star to appear more and more frequently across Nebraska west to east. This is true all up and down about the 100th meridian.

Glad I ran across this video. Well done as we're flying the same route and airline next month. Coming from Japan, on our way to our next base in So. Ill. But, FWIW, we'll buy a house in Missouri. Lot less property tax and better schools.

This is helpful, I like to see a bit about the aircraft I’m going to fly before I go on the trip. I have a flight doing the opposite of this route next week, and I was excited as it was supposed to be on a 772- but United appears to have swapped it for a 789 which is a bummer in my opinion. Looks like it shouldn’t be as bad after seeing this, but still.

Surprised they gave you that much food/drinks. I recently flew on a 787 with AA from LAX to PHL in Main Cabin Extra (basically equivalent to Polaris), and all they gave were 1 bag or pretzels and one drink. Maybe I should fly with United.

Thanks for uploading another 787 Dreamliner flight video that you were on this time. A couple summers ago, I did a round trip between O’hare and Sacramento and the route looked almost the same because I flew over the same US states. I do want to ask though, what’s your favorite airport so far in California?

Next year in summer I'll be coming back to SFO with Lufthansa A350. Usually the flight should be served by Lufthansa A380, but due to the pandemic all 380 from Lufthansa will be retired, just a couple of them will serve flights to Japan and China from Munich. Most long haul destinations of Lufthansa will be served by the A350. For myself I'll miss the wonderful A380 and the 747. On both types I used to go to San Francisco and LA as well. Many Greetings from Germany 🙂
