- Hey guys! Welcome to another full flight video...this time starting from a different city I haven't filmed from yet! (at least inside) I've had my eyes on Cleveland for awhile now to fly out of and I finally got my shot in mid July when United put some $14 flights to Newark down that I couldn't pass up. I really enjoyed the departing experience at Hopkins and would gladly do it again in the future. The flight itself was also very enjoyable and United mainline this time did an excellent job. This aircraft was an older model, but the interior definitely felt refreshed, even the lavatory as well. It also had free IFE onboard, screens, WiFi, nice seats, an inflight drink service, and awesome views of both NYC and Cleveland. The crew was also nice as usual. Just a couple critiques I would give is the legroom could be better and I'd like to see some power outlets and/or USB ports, but everything else was near perfect, especially for such a short flight. As far as COVID, I think UA does a good job...not quite up there with Delta, Southwest, and some others coming up in future vids, but they're much better than American, Spirit, Allegiant, etc. Hope you guys enjoy!

I must say, I find the ex-hub airports like Cleveland, Pittsburgh, Memphis, Cincinnati and St. Louis to be very intriguing since they typically have great designs and few crowds since they are built to handle so many people.

Thank you for showing Cleveland Hopkins International Airport and the sights around. I recognized the Turnpike and State Route 237 going by the airport, I saw the hotel there at the airport it is still the same color it was when my family left the Cleveland area in 1985. @thejazzguy13 Aviation....Thanks for stopping by my hometown airport! I got my aviation start there working for a Frontier Airlines ground handler. Had the honor of pulling the hydraulic bypass pin out of the nose gear of the first Spirit Airlines flight to depart from CLE. Great to see the airport again. Well done video as always!

@@parinpatel5719 Delta is my #1 favorite, But United is a close second. The flights I've been on have had good service, nice FAs, and have all gotten me to my destination on time.

I’m glad United is refurbishing their cabins, i looked at the United 747 from 2014 and did need an upgrade especially with their new Polaris Buisness class.
At 5:15, if you look in the distance you can see the Continental Retro Jet tail which was stored here for a few months as well.
It was really cool to see you flying over my neck of the woods. I miss being able to fly out of Youngstown. Since Allegiant abandoned it, the only ways to fly from there is to charter a flight, or join the Air Force.

I remembered flying UA back in june and they did not have any inflight service not even just a drink service and it was 2 hour flight too. i'm glad UA brought the drink service back at least!

Nice trip report. Are all those B737-700's at 25% capacity? All airlines need to block the middle/aisle-side seats on all narrowbodies and the aisle-side seats on jumbo jets.
This is where I had to go do fingerprints back in 2010 when I joined UAL.. I got to fly to EWR, go there get my fingerprints done for my UA badging and got to hang out looking out over NY from big Terminal C terminal windows.. However you want to get out of Newark before afternoon time, or you could face ground stop delays. I was able to get back on flight before the shit hit the fan sorta speak.. I wanted to make sure I wasn't going to get stuck in Newark. I know it's reputation far too well from working EWR flights..

Howdy, great trip report as always Mr. Jazz! I have to say, UA did excellent here! Just to add some more insight, CLE and EWR were both Continental Hubs and when they merged with UA, they chose to keep ORD over CLE!😸😹😸
Did you know that Cleveland is also known as the City and Birthplace of the Wind Mill (this was much before the Rock and ROll era) and not everyone knows this!

I enjoy these videos jazzguy, but I must make one correction. Cleveland was not the birthplace of rock & roll. Alan Freed just happened to be a Cleveland DJ in the 50s, and coined the phrase. Rock & roll was born in Memphis.

Musically, yes, Memphis is the birthplace of rock and roll, but Cleveland embraced the music in a way no other city did. The Rock Hall has a great explanation why Cleveland is the home of rock and roll.

Cleveland used to be an old Continental hub back in the day and this route was a popular Continental hub to hub route
And I also know that the concourse used for CO's CLE hub is Councourse D, which has been mothballed since Continental merged into United, which subsequently dehubbed CLE.

Living in the Houston area,I picked up some frozen AA's pretzels from the local grocer,didn't really care for them,the pretzel has a buttery taste to it once it comes out of the microwave,box includes a package of butter that you smear on just after nuking it,didn't use the package but did use the salt package

Clearly,UA made no profit on you,it cost them FAR more than $14 OW to carry you the distance that you flew! Interesting that UA boards from back to front but getting off the plane,its the normal routine.I'm not one to stand in the aisle waiting for the jetway to connect,I sit until I'm virtually the last passenger. My initial thought was "Ok,he's at EWR,will he find his flight back to CLE ,pay a small ransom for his car and make the long drive home?" So it was surprise to see you leave CLE,presumably headed for the Big Apple. I have no desire ever to rent a car and navigate the NYC metropolitan area--the area seems to have good public transportation. What is the drive time between home and CLE?
